December 11, 2010 7 Night Western Magic (Part DEUX)

Who is going to decide when/where/what we are going to do for a cruise meet?

I would like to recommend we all do the tequila tasting for our meet because it's much more interesting when alcohol is involved.:rotfl2:

Ok seriously, we met on one cruise just before the sail away party on Deck 10, and another in Preludes Bar AFTER the sailaway party. I'm sure there are all kids of other ideas (like setting up a private photo op in the foyer on the first sea day or all going to Bingo together).

I am not up to the challege...;)

Would those of you with birthday children onboard want to share with me the actual day of your child's birthday.

I was thinking it might be nice to have a special little birthday surprise for them on their big day. Maybe a little something in the fish extender or a little card or something to make their day extra special.

That is a wonderful idea, so thoughtful!
My Mikey (her real name is Mikelyn) will be 6 on Dec 18th. We will be walking off the ship that day, but since she has already had 2 "cruise birthdays" as she calls them we probably won't celebrate on board before.

There were two other kids having Birthdays too, Love2Disney's son and BlackDuck's Daughter but I don't have dates.

Cruisin that is a very generous offer.

Sarah turns 5, 29th November while we are at WDW. We are going to WDW for 2 weeks prior to cruise and she gets to have her birthday in cinderella's castle, which is her dream day. Now we have to somehow find a castle with princesses in Australia for Madisons birthday in February as she wants the same. :confused3

They can't work out why we can't just drive to WDW for the day.

We are off shopping tomorrow for the FE gifts.

See ya all soon

My son turns 8 dec 16th. Wow he is 8 time flies! Can we do a after sail away party meet. Gives every1 enough time to get settled.

The only problem with an after the sail away party meet is that it starts to get close to early dining times :confused3

It is really hard to fit meets in because there is always something going on :thumbsup2

I think there just has to be a time and place agreed upon and hopefully as many people as possible will show up.

When is everyone planning on arriving at the terminal?

Sometimes it is possible to meet up with a few fellow DISers at the terminal before boarding.

Especially if we wear something that will easily identify us to each other.

This is not meant to take the place of a DIS meet done once we board but just an extra chance to meet while we are waiting to board.

Hi all! We're cruising with you (me, DH, DS 10, DD 5)...is it too late to join the FE? We cruised last Dec for the first time and the kids had a blast with the FE...hope we're not too late. Please let me know either way. Thanks!

Welcome!
It is not too late, I will add you but I will need a little more info from you. If you could PM me with: Names & ages for your family, Cabin #, cell phone # in case there are any last minute changes before we board and if you are celebrating any special occassions then I will put you on the list!

We will be there by 10:30. I agree that a BEFORE the sail away party meet is a better idea. If we all board early we can do it by noon, before the rooms are open and we are all milling around anyway.

I should be there around 10:30 too. That sounds cool meeting before boarding. We could do the meet the day after maybe?

for those of us with GTY cabin assignments I did a little research tonight.

I looked through some of the cruise dates that are ahead of us and it seems that they are getting their cabin assigments at about 6 weeks away from the cruise date:thumbsup2

That means that we should start to see ours the last week of October. :goodvibes

Just caught up with reading all the previous posts...looks like I didn't miss a whole lot. I've had a crazy year and haven't really had a chance to get excited until now...I can't believe the cruise is only 2 months away
Our plans are as follows:

Key West: Just walk around (as long as I get the frozen key lime pie on a stick, I'll be happy)

Grand Cayman: We purchased tickets for Boatswain's on our own

Cozumel: Probably staying on ship

This is our second cruise...this time we'll be visiting Palo for dinner and doing a couple spa treatments (we didn't have a chance to do either on our last cruise) :woohoo:

Looking forward to the FE exchange...I like the idea of just having one assigned day...on the last cruise we had to deliver gifts every day and that got kind of old.

It's ironic that the Nightmare Before Christmas was being thrown around for a possible theme...my DS is going to be Jack Skellington for Halloween.

I just bought our tickets for Boatswain's too, I have a 9 1/2 yr old son and a 5 yr old (will turn 6 on the cruise) girl also, maybe they will hit it off and entertain each other!

Perfect...should be fun! Zoe will turn 6 in Feb, so they're almost the same age. My son is super social and generally gets along with everyone...he turned 10 last April.

So Shannon, do you run? Are you planning to do the CC 5K by any chance? I am pretty sure that DD10 and I are going to run it. It's been a while since I've run regularly but I started again last week so I should be fine by CC Day!

Could you give us more info on the CC 5K run? My DH and I may be interested in doing the 5K. Thanks!

I wouldn't exactly call it running...more like a slow jog :) I completed the Disney Half in 2008 and the Disney Full in 2010..."completed" is the key word...they were "races", but I was just trying to stay coherent.

I am hoping to do the CC 5K...we'll see how I feel. After the Full in Jan., DH and I decided to try for a 3rd kiddo...we were successful, but the pregnancy was short-lived and we miscarried at 10 weeks. Almost immediately after the miscarriage, I contracted mono from my 5 yo...so I've been slowly getting my energy back and working on rebuilding my fitness. I had to basically start from scratch.

My DH and I are both Air Force and we've not been living under the same roof for the last 3 months...he was gone for training for 6 weeks in Aug., and I'm away from home now. One more week and we'll be able to get back on track for working on our 3rd ;) So I'm hoping to be pregnant again by the time we cruise. If I am, I'd be so early along that I'll probably still be okay to do the 5K. I'll probably try to drag my DS along too...he completed a 5K with me at WDW and had a blast.

Sorry for the book, but it's hard to tell only parts of the story without confusing people.
