December 10, 2009 3 Night Bahamian Cruise

I will probably end up on SW and hope that we make the 11 Am flight home....will need some pixie dust for that!

I am just such a planner that it is killing me not to have all my flights done yet (we booked this trip last June!!!). Today marks the 7 month mark til the trip, so that is good news.

11am is cutting it really tight - make sure to get your own transportation to the airport and get off the ship as soon as they let people off (usually about 7:30 am but can be as late as 9). Even then you will probably be stressing because you will be cutting it so tight. You never know, the Southwest flight times might change to your advantage. I've traveled to Florida in early December and flights tend to have extra seats so if you miss your flight you will be able to get on a later flight. I am a true believer in having a backup plan. Don't know if it would save much time over the later flight but you might consider flying out of Hartford and returning to Logan then having a car service bring you back to Hartford. I am guessing the limo service would be pretty expensive however.

For our February cruise we wanted a direct flight and we had a similar situation with Jet Blue (morning or early evening flights) and kids going to school the next day. Driving to Buffalo in mid-winter is not a great plan so we ruled that out. We decided to take the later Jet Blue flight and booked a day room at the Orlando Airport Hyatt (right in the airport). The cost was $89. We checked in about 10 am, the kids went swimming in the pool, ate lunch, watched some tv and then took a nap until we had to go to the gate. We were home by 9 pm and the kids made it to school the next day.

Right now there is only one Airtran and one Jet Blue direct flight back to Rochester on 12/13 and they are at 5:30 and 6:30 so we might be stuck doing the same thing again.

Good luck

I gree - I am worried about the 11 AM flight. The 1:00 connecting flight isn't that bad (gets me home at a good time), but I just hate doing a connection from CT to FL....I know, I'm a travel brat. :rotfl:

But, I will try to be patient until the SW fares come out next month...and maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

I have heard of the day pass at the Hyatt which is in the back of my head for a backup plan. Can you book that on the spot or do you have to make a reservation?

I just know that the kids were tired last year when we got home, but then again we did MK all day and took a later flight home, so maybe just getting off the ship and relaxing then flying will make school the next day do-able.

Sigh....I'm just impatient. :goodvibes

NASA website no longer shows our launch date of Dec 10th.:sad1:My son and husband are so bummed. Maybe they'll add it back. Fingers crossed.

So in light of our WONDERFUL ecomony right now.....we've changed our ceremony from the beach at CC to the secret Deck 7, right before/after sailing from Nassau.

Soooo....i'm going to issue an invitation/make a plea again to anyone with a video camera and a love of weddings!! :rotfl: As you all know, DCL does not have a videographer. So if anyone will be free about 530pm on Nassau day and would like to donate their services as a videographer for my VR, I would be so eternally grateful you!!! :worship::worship:

Of course....anyone is invited to come witness our event even if you don't have a video camera!! :rotfl: Just let me know how many extra sets of bubbles i'll need!!

That is a bummer - my hubby was excited when I told him. Well, there is plenty of time for them to put it back on the calendar....let's hope we get some pixie dust there!

:scared1:NO!! DH will be crushed! Maybe it's because they had to have two shuttles prepared to go now for the Hubble mission? Not sure why that would matter, but who can understand NASA? I'm no rocket scientist!
We'll keep checking on it I guess. Here's hoping.

if no one else will do it, I'll do the services as a videographer. I videographer everything around here from party's to random other stuff, so I'm good with that stuff

YOU ROCK!! Didn't you post some video secments in your TR? I thought i remember seeing some.....

YAY!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

We are almost out of the 200s for the countdown and I got my airfare today!!!

Just happened to see my email before I headed out with the kids (no school today) and fare catcher had $219 RT from Hartford to Orlando....yep, on Delta or Northwest, so I booked it.

Now, I booked with Delta (merging with NWA) and the flights are actually on NWA. That is fine, I have flown them before and it was fine. BUT...they don't let you choose your setas until 90 days out!!! I was SO annoyed with it, but just have to go with the fact that I got good prices and flight times and now I can cancel that part of my package (Disney air at $390 per person!!!) Even though we now have to pay for our own transfers (which we were going to anyway and get a van), we are still paying less than the $390 per person.

I am just happy to have that done (and get a few more Disney reward points in the process). whew. now more time to surf the boards. :rotfl:

JetBlue just released their fares for December - and right now the JetBlue direct back to Rochester is at 1PM - yeah.

Okay, I'm being lazy and don't want to go back through 15 pages of our posts (wow - pretty amazing that we have that many since for SOOO long there were just 2 of us). :goodvibes

Who is coordinating the FE? Can you either post again or send me a PM with what I need to give you for info about us? I want to participate...

Thanks so much!

Darcy

THANK YOU!!! I'm off to call my TA right now!!

IT did! We switch and OMG i'm so happy with the price now! :lmao: Assuming the economy doesn't get any worse than it already is, we're set....hopefully! ;)
