I will probably end up on SW and hope that we make the 11 Am flight home....will need some pixie dust for that!
I am just such a planner that it is killing me not to have all my flights done yet (we booked this trip last June!!!). Today marks the 7 month mark til the trip, so that is good news.
11am is cutting it really tight - make sure to get your own transportation to the airport and get off the ship as soon as they let people off (usually about 7:30 am but can be as late as 9). Even then you will probably be stressing because you will be cutting it so tight. You never know, the Southwest flight times might change to your advantage. I've traveled to Florida in early December and flights tend to have extra seats so if you miss your flight you will be able to get on a later flight. I am a true believer in having a backup plan. Don't know if it would save much time over the later flight but you might consider flying out of Hartford and returning to Logan then having a car service bring you back to Hartford. I am guessing the limo service would be pretty expensive however.
For our February cruise we wanted a direct flight and we had a similar situation with Jet Blue (morning or early evening flights) and kids going to school the next day. Driving to Buffalo in mid-winter is not a great plan so we ruled that out. We decided to take the later Jet Blue flight and booked a day room at the Orlando Airport Hyatt (right in the airport). The cost was $89. We checked in about 10 am, the kids went swimming in the pool, ate lunch, watched some tv and then took a nap until we had to go to the gate. We were home by 9 pm and the kids made it to school the next day.
Right now there is only one Airtran and one Jet Blue direct flight back to Rochester on 12/13 and they are at 5:30 and 6:30 so we might be stuck doing the same thing again.
Good luck
