December 10, 2006 - 12/10/06 Wonder

Kristen - I am so glad things went well for you today.

We had a bummer afternoon. We did drug test this week for our employees and had to terminate an employee that has been with us since we started our electrical business five years ago. It was very hard and stressful for William but we could not jeopardize our business or the liability of him in our company vehicles. It was awful.

Howards last asphalt race until January is tomorrow. YEAH!!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: :woohoo: :yay:
OK Yall get the picture!!! If he wins he will walk away with two Championships this season.

Jodie- I'm still at work tonight too  I keep trying to quit but I keep coming back p/t to help out.

Shari-Give Howard a big high five from us, I;m sure he'll do great.

I think I found what I am going to do for the room magnets. My DD8 had a good question for me today about the magnets "How are we going to have time to put magnets on people's doors with all the stuff you have planned for us?"

I guess that's my next problem to solve...

I have to work until midnight then I have to be at girlscout overnight training at 7am. I haven't even packed. I'm going to be the only unprepared leader at this thing. I can see it now....Can I borrow your fork? We were supposed to bring a sleeping bag?

Ok, so today i am doing all of ashleigh's packing for our trip, i am ironing too, boy that is hard work, so after today all she needs is panties, socks and pj's which i will pack the night before we leave, i booked our limo we will get picked up at 4:30 am, then go to pick up my sister and hopefully be at the airport by 6.

I bought some magnet strips today and some foam backing - also found some cute stickers to put on the foam. But the best think I have for our doors are some graphic arts pictures I found a link to on the DIS. I am going to print them off and them use adhesive to attach thme to the foam.

I am so happy this weekend! I feel so relieved overall. I told my husband I was going to start packing and he rolled his eyes! I have to at least wash the jammies and stuff I bought just for WDW :-)

Jodie - I used to LOVE Wegmans when I lived in Rochester! That is the smart way to have Thanksgiving. What color is your bathroom going to be?

We are going to my mother in laws for Thursday and Friday (it is about a 2.5 hr drive). We will go shopping early Friday with my 2 sisters in law and Emilee. We are not really close, but it is fun to do something with them once a year like this.

Thanksgiving weekend will be spent finishing my 2 final projects for school and packing!
Shawn is much more organized than I am!!

Whoo hoo..1 month and 2 days! OMG....I month and 2 days!!!

OMG!!!! I feel like gumby. We have had a really busy weekend. Howard won his race. He will take the championship in two different catagories or classes. He also set the track record for speed in his new class. Needless to say the whole family is elated that he won and the racing season is over until January.

We left the race and had an hour and a half to get showered, pressed, dressed, deliver the children to my sil thats thirty minutes away (she came and got them for us thank goodness!!!!) and to get to the schools silent auction. It is our largest fundraiser of the year. We only have around 100 families and raised over $25,000.00!!! It is so much fun. The night ends with a live auction, a band, and dancing. We got home at 3:00 this morning. We got up at 8:00 and got dressed to go get the children and shamefully skipped church. I took Christie to an Holiday art show that I promised her and the guys went to hunting camp to get ready for youth hunt next weekend. CALGON.......TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We got home and my little angel said "how about lets do door decorations tomorrow since I am out of school". I have never been so relieved. I didnt want to let her down.

I found a fish extender but it was a little to pricey. ($40.00) I wanted to find one a little more economical.

Shawn - In my opinion Ohanas is a must. We usually do a breakfast and a dinner. This time Christie and Howard had other breakfast plans. I would like to do kona cafe one morning because of the tonga toast. I have never had it just read about it. Has anyone had it?

Andrea - How did your busy weekend go?

Jodie - I order alot from Dales a local family owned restuarant in Southaven MS about 30 minutes from us. The way I like to look at it is.... its home cooked .....just not in my home .;) If its that good why not? :confused3 I need my energy for Friday!!!! :woohoo:

Kristen - You sound so relieved!!!! I am glad you had a good weekend.

Rina - I have bought the transfers for us t-shirts and thats is as far as I have gotten. I dont know what Im doing, so I will design it then get help on printing and such.

Nanc - I am so jealous that you are so prepared!!!! You sound so relaxed. I hope on our next cruise that I will feel seasoned and prepared. I just expect to have everything to be perfect, smooth and enjoyable and not let my family down.

OK, I finally decided to just go with my 1st attempt (after messing it up for hours...) What do you think?

Sorry my pic is so LARGE!

I survived outdoor overnight training. I am TIRED though! They really crammed alot into 2 days. I feel like I can go on survivor and be the hunter warrior that everyone wants on their team! We even learned how to lash camp furniture out of tree branches! I got some really good recipes too!

I came home and the first thing I did (after hugging everyone) was go to the computer to work on door signs. This one above is the only one I got done in about 3 hours. I need to get a grip.

Andrea - It looks great. Keep up the good work!!!

Christie and I started on our countdown instead of waiting. Today we watched Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and the Island of Misfit Toys and Home Alone. Both are really great movies.

I also went to claires this weekend and they had alot of Pirates of the Carribean stuff.

I forgot to tell yall about my clothing mishap this weekend. I had bought a new blouse for the silent auction. It was a wrap around shirt and I couldnt figure out how to put it on. I tried, Christie tried, William tried and I finally called my sister to meet me at the auction to figure it out. She was going anyway. She met me and figured it out. I really liked the shirt. I hope I get a chance to wear it on the cruise.

Shari-I organized a silent auction for our school last year to update our technology room. I had such a good time. I was absolutely stunned that we made over $25,000. Our goal was about $8,000. We ended up replacing all of the computer lab computers and buying one for each classroom too. I m hoping to do it again this year, but with some help this time! I would love to hear about what items and interesting things they offered-it might give me some ideas!

Our school ask everyone to get at least 2 donations for the auction. Some do the minimum and some like me have over twenty. I just ask people I deal with everyday and some just local people. This year we had a 20" flat screen t.v. that you can hang on the wall. All kinds of baskets made of toys, some baskets for the ladies and some for the men. Art. hand made quilts. lamps. limousine ride. upper end restaurant certificates. hotel certificates. guitars.

Everyone one brings an international dish for the food. The drinks are always donated. They sell alot of liquor. (this always just kills me because it is school related although no children are allowed) They also charge $25.00 to get in in advance and $30.00 at the door.

A large portion of our money comes from the live auction. We are a montessori school. The easiest way to understand is we dont have textbooks until "seventh grade". They learn everything from materials. They touch everything they learn. It sounds crazy but it is amazing to watch. Most all of the children are very creative and independent. A montessori high school is a boarding school. That is where my children will transfer out. In Memphis, we currently dont have a montessori high school. Back to the live auction. All items in this portion is hade made by the children and very expensive. They had a solar system night table that sold for $800.00. A staff themed dinner sold for $1300.00. A picture made of hand sewn buttons sold for $1100.00. A driftwood carved to look like a manatee (like the one Memphis lost!!) sold for $1200.00. There were a few more live auction items I cant remember. It is very hard to resist your own childs art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will talk more before your auction. Remind me to tell you about cow patty bingo. That is another great fundraiser that we are doing next year in the fall.

I am a total wreck...
:earseek:
I cannot find about half of the stuff that I bought for you guys!!! Arrrgggghhh!
Is it just me or do you all 'hide' stuff of 'put it away' and then the sock trolls (from the dryer) take it to their lair. I looked all over the place today!!!

I did find the tree for my AKL decorations and found out that there is another family that will be enjoying them after the group that I pass them to. :thumbsup2 I was super excited because I read about people that did this last year and thought it was a super cool idea!

I LOVE your pirate picture! Joe said that it was scary! Your decorations are going to be awesome!!!
I found a cute shirt to wear for pirate night at Walmart this morning. I think it's probably a bit 'much' for dinner but will be fun to wear on deck! On the same trip I found our fish-stocking. It is all blue with gold quilting. I was thinking about painting the DCL emblem on it - we'll see if that happens or not!

Joe just mentioned that a month from today we will be sleeping in our AKL bed - um, no... we will be at EMH at MK! :cool1: I guess tomorrow is officially under a month until we go. If anyone is bored and wants to come clean carpet, give me a jingle!!!

Is anyone playing Bingo on the ship, if so may I tag along??? I haven't ever played on the ship but everyone says it's a blast.
What is cow patty bingo? Do you have to touch poo?

I will be playing bingo on the ship. I enjoyed it in June. Its funny because I dont normally play but it was fun on Carnival. Sure you can tag along with us!!!!

Cow patty bingo is where you sell three foot by three foot squares in a field for $20.00 or whatever you want to sell them for. You sell tickets probably for three months. Our goal is to sell 2000 squares. You have an engineer and surveyor to line and randomly assigns the numbers to the squares. Then you release a cow and where he does his dirty deed the person who bought that square wins a designated amount of money. It is generally 20% of the profits. We will have a chili cook off and moon bounces etc. during ours. If I get the place I want, we will also have hayrides and a pumpkin patch. Obviously a great fall fundraiser.

I have relatives in PA and they do the cow patty bingo too. Our insurance carrier won't allow it :sad2:

We do a walkathon too, it is our only "fundraiser" where the kids are directly involved. Our auction is a fun adult night and we have some kids/classes that participate-but it's not required (public schools-can't exclude anyone or expect them to participate either).
I love the Montessouri Theory-we just don't have a good school around here. Mostly preschools. The one decent school I could find was so ridiculously expensive, and exclusive (they were very snobby when I went to open house) that I didn't even investigate. We do alot of activities with our kids to make up for the lack at school. We go to a play or museum or something cultural twice a month. We hike & camp and "learn" everywhere we go.My kids have even been known to tell their teachers that they have more fun learning with mom & dad!
