December 10, 2006 - 12/10/06 Wonder

Andrea - We just lucked up on our school. We were enrolling them in another local private school when we asked about the curriculum, we were like no way not for that amount of money. At three years old they were going to teach my children one letter and one bible verse a week for $4500 a piece!!!! I could teach them that. They are the ones who sent me looking for a montessori school. There are three around Memphis but ours is the only one AMI certified. We went on a wait list and was able to get in the next school year. It was more expensive than the other school but we had planned on private schooling before we even had children. I am so glad we did it. Our public school systems STINK!!! The county schools are ok but still not up to par in my opinion.

The trips to museums and theatre are so good for them. My children love nature. I am thrilled their school is on the MS river. They take nature hikes and such. You are such a good mom!!!!! Nature is not my cup of tea. I loved it as a child. As an adult, I am like I can sleep on a nice comfy bed at home or a hotel while do I want to sleep on the groud with a bunch of bugs and snakes and then my mind starts wandering and I think about raccoons and such!!! I am not a complete stick in the mud, I do like to fish and raft and stuff like that.

I missed out on the disney long sleeved tees on clearance! Did anyone else get any? Still no door signs for me but we did find some cute Christmas magnets for the door. I need to make my mickey ears for the door too!!

Hi! Sounds like everyone had a great weekend! Mike and I were busy with "house stuff!" He says he's going to have a plaque made that says "Mike's Bathroom," and I'm not to have a key. Please keep in mind that he had absolutely nothing to do with hiring the contractor or picking out any of the materials or paint colors, but such is being married! He is complaining, however, about the shower ... I had our upstairs bathtub removed and replaced with a shower and linen closet. The shower has multiple shower heads, and he was annoyed by that and told me he would never, ever use them! Hmpphhh...

So... packing ... what in the world is everyone packing? I have never cruised in December. I was hoping to still get away with my usual sundresses and fancy flip flops, but I am nervous that it will be too cold for that, even in the Bahamas. Since this is only a 4-day, is it safe to leave our formal wear at home and just bring one night of semi-formal wear? Mike and I have only done traditional cruises that include tuxes and long gowns ... and I sold him on Disney that for the 4-day he wouldn't have to pack his tux. Is anyone else bringing a tux? I am hoping he can get away with dress pants and a jacket. He is not one to dress down. In fact, I am pretty sure he has more clothes than I do. :)

Well, I am off to watch one of my favorite new shows of the season... does anyone else love Heroes? It took me the second episode to get into it, but we're hooked!

Can anyone tell me were ohanas is and their food i have seen people talking about this all the time, i am now curious

Shawn - I just ate here this past Friday night for my birthday (with 8 friends). Food is amazing! Served family style (share among the table), and all you can eat (all you have to do is aks for more, and there it is!)

They start you out with chips (not like tortillas, light and flaky) and dip (3 types Chimmichuri, a Red Pepper mixture, and some sort of peanut sauce). Next came salad (with a yummy dressing already mixed in), then came the bbq wings; veggies; potatoes; and jumbo shrimp. Servers then walk around w/ steak, turkey, pork and sausage and give you the servings right off a skewer (this is like a Brazilian Churrascarria if you have ever been to one). Dessert is also included - some sort of banana bread/ice cream/bananas foster thing w/ coconut (I was lucky that I ended up having a chocolate concoction brought out to me in it's place....I'm a MAJOR CHOCO-HOLIC). I thought everything was fabulous, except for the steak which was too dry for me (I like it medium rare).

Service was fun too----there are things that go one around the restaurant (mostly for the kids, but they also ask all the bday people to come up--and they sing to you). And the CMs are great too.

I would recommend this restaurant - I want to try it for breakfast sometime (Lilo and Stich visit).

Hope everyone is doing well....and that the interviews become fruitful.

I just read on another thread about Atlantis having a special going and getting a room for $164.00. That is great if anyone was wanting to do Atlantis and the waterslides. We have already booked and paid for ours but was just posting in case someone else wanted to know!!!! :cool1:

On our cruise countdown movie tonight we watched Home Alone 2 and Jingle All The Way. We loved them both!!!! Yall should give them a try.

Wow, I can't believe that people are packing already! I won't start thinking about that until December. Right now I'm much more worried about Thanksgiving. We have 14 people coming here.

I've also been planning a DVC DIS meet-up which is taking place this coming Saturday, the 11th. There will be about 16 DVC DISers meeting up for lunch.

As if I'm not busy enough,I vacation planning system I've been creating, Mouse Manager, is finally, at last ready for testing. So, I'm scurrying to get the final last minute things done (documentation, etc) so that the initial testing can start this weekend. I've got a few initial testers lined up to start testing the tool. I'm hoping for a launch in the spring. Mouse Manager will be freeware, and will be available for both the Mac and Windows.

Mouse Manager
is a complete vacation planning and management tool that is targeted at DVC owners and non-owners. For DVC owners it offers a complete points tracking and management module. For all WDW enthusiasts it offers complete vacation planning and management tools, right down to being able to create a customized packing list database and created customized lists. It has been a lot of work, and months in the making.

Now if all that wasn't enough, I'm training to be a Weight Watcher's meeting leader. Next week, I lead my first meeting solo.

Of course there's also the podcast.

Oh, yes, and somehow, during all of this, I still do go to work everyday.

Whew!!!!!

So, I think right around December 1st I'll start thinking about packing for the cruise.:rotfl:

Hello!! I just caught up on all the posts!! We have been busy working, cleaning (yuck!) and working on projects for our Krewe. Work has been a madhouse, people are hitting the ER like mad!!

I haven't even thought about packing yet!! I am still working on what we are going to bring for all of you!! :goodvibes

We are going to Orlando this weekend. It is my BIL birthday and the boys are going to go golfing and the girls are going SHOPPING!!  We are going to hit the outlet malls. I need to make a list, I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet!

Rina - That is hilarious!! Whats even more funny is I did buy extra because I know how I am!!!! Christie has some friends that have been experimenting with this so I am going to enlist their 11 and 13 year old expertise!!! They made some for their baby sister and it turned out cute.

I have not started packing packing, just putting certain stuff in the suitcase that we know we are going to use. I also put stuff in there for the children. Our toiletries bag is already packed. It is always packed (I just change out our toothbrushes and make sure we have everything full.) and I always have a medications bag packed as well. I have all of our passport stuff ready and documents filled out off the internet. Past that I am not ready.

I have put a curse on myself. I went to the doctor today because I havent been feeling up to par and had shortness of breath. He did a lug xray and bloodwork. I came home with an antibiotic(10 days), prednisone(which I hate, for 12 days), albuterol, and cough medicine for night. I just hate this!!! I cant stand to take medicine. I dont feel sick other than my breathing. I have officially finished Christie for Christmas. If I am lucky enough to get the Playstation 3 for Howard on November 17, I will be through with him. I dont have much left to do. The stores that presold the Playstation 3 had people camping for a day and some two days. I refuse. I will get him a Gift certificate for it. I hope I can get one at sams the day they start selling them. I can get in early with our business account.

On our door decorations, I decided I was going to do a wreath with my mickey heads. Should I laminate them indivually that I can do at home or should I tape the wreath together and carry it to kinkos? What would you do? I think I have enough. I may have to go get some more.

IMHO I think it would be difficult to transport in one piece. I was going to do it in 3 or 4 sections. I agree with laminating them and you may want to consider velcro dots to hold the sections to one another.

I am so sorry that you are now so heavily medicated. Please think of it this way, you are getting your 'bug' out of the way before the trip! I hope your lungs feel great really soon.

Nanc - Thanks!!
I just noticed that with my medicine that I will not be able to tan for 12 days.
I hope I can at least get a base tan going in the other 16 days that I will have.

I think I am going to ship my decorations down in my other box to the resort, and carry them onto the ship. I dont want to have to worry with that at the last minute. It will force me to do what I need to do a week early too!!!

Is everyone carrying clothes for all seasons? I know how Florida is....its the cruise that I am worried about. I wouldnt carry dress clothes to WDW except for one night for the California Grill. However, should my cruise dress clothes be for cool or warm weather? That is the only thing I am worried about.

Neal, Shawn, Andrea and Kristen - If your girls have been shopping at Limited Too lately you should have some "Too Bucks". They start after the day after Thanksgiving. The store clerk also told me they were going to have some great deals. If that is true it will be even sweeter with our "too bucks". Christie has already figured this one out and she THINKS a girl could never have too many clothes. Just an FYI.

Also American Eagle and The Gap both have friends and family weekends coming up in the next month.

Last night we watched Home Alone AGAIN because Howard and Daddy didnt get to watch it the first day. This wouldnt be a problem if we didnt have enough Christmas movies to last us plum through Christmas itself!!!!!! I cant wait to see the selection for tonight. Every night my little drama queen announces that there are concessions in the kitchen and please turn off all cell phones and then tells us the movie.

My daughter got her ears pierced a couple of months ago. For her, it's earrings, not clothes.

The other job is somepleace where i worked previously and it pays more and i have no hard feeling but i am in love with the first place i interviewed but it is God's hands and he will put me where i am needed and where he wants me to be.

Shawn - Good luck. I hope you get the job you REALLY want. It is no fun to get up and go to a job you are not happy in. Have you noticed our tickers? It is so exciting. In exactly four weeks I should be leaving ohanas!!!!

I am going to take sweaters to go with my dinner clothes. I remember it being kind of cool in the evening on the ship, especially out on deck.

Joe and I were talking about packing last night. I don't think I will start until right before we leave because I would hate to pack a bunch of warm weather stuff only to have to unpack and repack at the last minute with sweaters and jeans. I am just hope-hope-hoping that we will have great weather while we are there!
