December 03, 2005 Western Magic?

Hi Gailyn,

How's it going?

When are you going to Flordia and where were you going to be staying?

I received Nicole's note but I didn't have time to share it with Ryleigh. I was busy re-washing clothes for our trip. I did a load of dark clothes and Ryleigh left a tube of her lipstick in a pocket. Needless to say I have been scrubbing "my" clothes trying to get the lipstick out. I was so upset with her.

Hey we are expecting 2" of snow, it's coming your way!

I got my documents for Atlantis this afternoon. Oh yeah, I checked into the Limo, what a joke. I talked to the same guy that Scrapperjill called and the guy quoted my $100 for the three of us and for four additional people (you) he would charge another $50. I told him that wasn't what he charged a friend of mine, he seemed like he was willing to negotiate but I'm not really into that. Looks like a taxi maybe our best bet. My guess is that this limo guy will be there and he will charge alot less when it comes down to it. I'm not counting on him.

So are you guys into Harleys? You mentioned you had a Harley shirt on yesterday.

Hi Cindy,

I called the same guy about the limo, he told me $200 for the 7 of us but he would do it for $150. Can you guess what I told him? :rotfl: When I told him how much he charged scrapper Jill he said" there are 7 of you". I would pay $80 roundtrip but not double that!! From what I have read the limo's and taxi's line up by the dock, my Mom said it would be funny if he was there and he was charging like he did for Jill. I think when he heard Disney and where we were going money was not a problem and he could charge anything. There will be plenty of taxi's for us to use. It's his loss, now he doesn't get the pleasure of knowing what great people we all are :rotfl2: Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!!

Susie

Hi Susie,

I have to agree with you we are "Awesome" people!

He seemed like if he could scam us for a few extra bucks it was worth a try. I hope that he is parked at the curb and nobody uses his services :rotfl: . He told me he would meet me there so I told him "ok", waste his time and gas! I'll be looking for him just to make sure he knows that I will use someone elses services and spend my $$ elsewhere. If he was at least reasonable and honest I would have gone with him. I didn't want to make a payment on his limo!

You have a great Thanksgiving and we look forward to meeting you next week. We will have a drink :drinking: on the limo driver!

LIMO GUY STINKS..........I second that

I think a taxi would be fine. I wouldn't give Andy the time of day, let alone my money. OK, now on to better and more fun topics :rotfl: !

Cindy,
We fly out of Cleveland on Tuesday and will be staying at Beach Club Villas. Then after the cruise, we'll be at Animal Kingdom on Sat night. We leave Sunday afternoon. I can't wait for vacation!!

We got your "present" the snow is coming down hard. The ride home from work was terrible. The streets seemed fine, but people must have amnesia about how to drive in the snow, accidents everywhere :confused3

Good luck getting the lipstick out of your clothes. Nicole's done that but with chocolate or gum.

I'm having packing anxiety. I think I need to open a bottle of wine. More later.

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone, we have a lot to be thankful for! :grouphug:

::MinnieMo OK- I am stressing. I made a list today of all the things that I need to get done before we leave. There were 41 items on there and that took me less than 5 minutes to make.... so I know that there are many more to be added before we take off. At least we are not leaving until next Friday- those senior boys need as much time in class as possible.

I have started to make some piles for packing but just can't seem to get to that. Between DH working and finishing up the papers and tests for the classes he has to finish before we leave and DS finishing college applications, I just don't know. And I want to get the Christmas decorations up, do some shopping and at least have a start on those cards.... At least DD's play is done and over with so that is a relief.

Has anyone ever done any of the dolphin excursions? My DD really wants to do this and it is something she has talked about for several years, Just wondering if there are other groups I should talk to or if this is best done through Disney. It was a no brainer before Nassau was added- none of the other ports had the Dolphin encounter but now that we are going to Nassau- I suspect I will be doing a Dolphion encounter rather than Atlantis. :earsboy:

Let me know if you have any groups that I should check out other than Disney.

We did this on the Wonder at Nassau. We really liked it. Got pictures and a video. Here's my tip based on what happened to us. Book through Disney or use a company like Shoretrips.com both refund money if you can not make it into port. You will get conformation, and both companies have good reputations. We were supposed to do the Dolphin Swim in Nassau booked directly through them (locally not disney not shoretrips) and paid them. Guess what they "lost" the reservation, and they claimed that it was full. We were lucky to get do the encounter because they are popular also, but got that booked and paid the day of the cruise. It took us months to get our money back for the swim, thank goodness for a persistent Travel agent. So I did research here on the boards because we wanted to swim with the dolphins on our next cruise. I read a lot of good reports on shoretrip, and this is what we used to book the swim at Cozumel. They have been awesome refunding the money quickly since we are not going to Cozumel.

So to sum up book through a reputable company that you know you can get answers from, and offer refunds, and is based state side Like Disney or Shoretrips.

The encounter is lots of fun, and I would say it is a must do. The people and the dolphins at the encounter were great. The pictures and the video were great to.

See you on board in a less than two weeks.

Hi Gailyn,

Oh wow will you be ready by Tuesday? We will be coming home from the lake early Sunday so that I can get stuff finished up.

We fly out of Detroit on Thursday real early, we will be in Orlando before lunch. When we return we are staying too, but we will be at Pop Century. Our flight back to Detroit on Sunday doesn't leave until 3:15 or somewhere are that time.

We don't have any real plans for Friday, Dec. 2 we were kind of thinking of hotel hoppin, riding the monorail, boat and just checking out the Christmas decorations and taking our time in Downtown Disney. I have to say when we go to the parks we just don't take the time to explore the whole area. I do have Park Hoppers from two years ago if we change our minds but I really would love to see as many hotels as possible.

Here in Detroit we have a couple of inches of snow. People are crazy when it first snows, I know it took me alot longer to get home the expressway was 35 mph. Just a few more days and we can escape this yucky stuff. I dread coming home to it though.

Be sure and watch the Detroit parade. I am so thankful for meeting and becoming friends with everyone on this board. Have a great Thanksgiving.

I know why I can't get the packing done, I'm here typing!!!!!

Hello all,

I had to change this cruise date so I just wanted to say I'm sorry I won't be able to meet you all on this cruise. Someone have some Orange-Mango soup for me please. :goodvibes

Connie- thanks for the great advice. :love1: I think it might just be DD and me doing the dolphin thing. The others will be at Atlantis. That's alright- may take another friend of ours as well... a little female bonding.

Suzanne- sorry that you can not join us. Hopefully nothing too serious. I'll try some of that Mango soup for you.

Kitty- we have done Disney Qwest. Last time was when our kids were 11 and 16. They had a blast. Also did it on the previous trip when they were 9 and 14 so I think your kids would love. Lots to do. The human pinball game was their favorite along with creating their own roller coasters. We've always spent the last day there before our flight takes off. :cheer2:

I would agree on DQ. DH and I had a blast configuring a roller coaster ride for our son and his friend. We laughed so hard while the kids were turning green. They asked for it and we delivered. We purchased the video, the best $10 I've ever spent. The kids still enjoy watching the tape and laughing at how they came up out of their seats. That was the trip we discovered our son was NOT the tame little boy we thought we raised, rather a speed demon at heart.

This DW is packed/hanging (dresses that is) while DH is almost ready (thanks to DW) As for the DS 18, he's packed and leaving for Milwaukee tomorrow. Mind you, he packed so well that he DID NOT include a warm coat, an extra pair of jeans, blanket, pillow, money, air mattress, work out clothes, but he was packed. Dissy mommy did not bail him out and OH WELL, we'll see how he fairs. Anyone seeing a DS 18 on board with one small bag, send him to room 2147. He's easy to entertain, just give him food and a soccer ball. :rotfl:

My next venture is a cleaver way of displaying those Alien Mickey's. HD did not have the alien green, so we will be noticed as Forest. Look for us folks!
I'd like to get some ideas for the 7 dwarfs and our flight to Orlando. I'd like to get the magic going early. Hey Lisa, that should have been our gimmick!

Has anyone done the space ship ride at Epcot? We are staying over Sat night for himself (DS) to experience the best that motion sickness has to offer. DH and I are looking forward to dinner in France.

Looking forward to meeting all 12/3 at 3:00 with the green all aglow.

Just went to Home Depot today here in Cedar Rapids, They have some Alien green mickey heads in today :Pinkbounc . I picked a couple up, there were still plenty left if you have time to run in and get some. I then went to the Michaels to get some matching paper to make more, and makes some bigger ones for the door.

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone. See you on board at the DIS meet.

Connie

PS we are thinking of doing Atlantis and getting a room at The comfort inn/hotel. Are we still doing a meet. My daughter would love to have kids her age to play with in the pool if we go.

Thanks for the update on the alien green Mickey heads. We'll have to see if we can make it out there on Friday... almost the busiest shopping day of the year.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

One more question, if DH purchases a beer does it come in a bottle and can you walk around the ship with it or do you have to stay in the bar where it was purchased? Can someone confirm that our cabins have a refridgerator, I believe I read that somewhere awhile ago.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Hello,

To answer your questions about beer and the fridge; I'm pretty sure the beers come in the plastic bottles, not glass ones, and yes, he can carry his libation around the ship. There are also a few drink carts placed at different areas around the ship selling drinks, usually in a few heavily trafficked areas. We usually buy a glass of champagne with a strawberry every night from the cart in the atrium area. There is a "cooler" in the room, it's not a real fridge, but it will keep beverages somewhat cool, maybe 50º or so. It doe's not have a large amount of space if I recall.

See ya real soon...

Take care,

Bill

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! :Pinkbounc
Karen,
DH, DD (8) and Grandpa rode Mission Space and loved it. As long as you follow the directions given you'll be fine :) . If you don't, look out :guilty: you'll be green.

I'm jealous that you're packed. My job today is to get the kids stuff packed and start on mine. I just need the space to haul all the stuff out and leave it :confused3 until Tuesday morning without breaking my neck or worse yet, the kids dragging it back out!!!

It sounds like we might have to try DQ on this visit. Is it at Pleasure Island?

Gailyn :sunny:

Gailyn,

DQ is at the very West End of Downtown Disney, left side with Cirque de Soule straight ahead. If you are going there directly, take the bus to the West End, saves time cutting thru all the people. I don't know the ages of your children, but the boys were 13 and we left them alone. There was a large group of them, soccer players and they were fine. At closing time, they let us in to pick up the kids. DH and I ate at Bongos (I think that's the name) last visit during spring training and LOVED the food. Cuban and the Mojitos were fantastic. Very close proximaty to DQ in the West End. Have you been to Pleasure Island before? We took our son when he was in 1st grade, Swing Out Sister was there. It was part of our package, don't think I'd take a youngster again. He was tired and the Dippin Dots kept his attention for only so long. At this stage in our life, we enjoy other areas much more, though the Adventurers Club was super fun. I would love to get our son over to Animal Kingdom Lodge for the buffet. The smell alone will put him over the edge. Right now the trip is based on food, food, sightseeing, gambling (thanks to DCL, Wilma and Nassau) and food. Since he and Josh are "batching" it (is that the correct spelling?) for that week, they want to have good ole fun as allowed by respectible 18 yr old guys. Dare I say the Stud Muffins are on the loose? Preliminary cruise rules will be discussed via flight to Orlando, with updates daily.

As for the space ride, he will be going solo. That is one adventure I do not need to conquer. I hear you just need to stay focused and not look around.

Enjoy and keep counting.

Thanks for the update on DQ. I think we'll give it a try. I like DT Disney. Maybe DH will take them while I shop :sunny:

I ate so much Turkey and pie I think I need to rest now :)

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

I agree with way too much turkey and ham and sweet potatoes and carrot cake and pie and..... so much for keeping the weight down before the cruise.

I too wish I was packed. I am a last minute packer though. I can set my piles out but it all has to go in the suitcase at one time for that final check that I am ready.

DD13 is still getting my help with packing- we've gotten a start and I have started myself. DS18 and DH (too old for me to remember) will be on their own. So... we'll see what they look like.

Tree and shopping tomorrow. I'll be pushing them to pack after that.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! ::MinnieMo
