HURRICANE WILLMA IMPORTANT INFORMATION

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

Come to Cozumel has the commitment to report and post on our web site the most accurate information and reports on the status on the island after last weekends storm "Wilma", We work close together with the Chamber of Tourism, the Fideicomiso of Cozumel, the Hotel Association, and the local government. We are gathering official reports from this institutions and will be posting them on this web site for those seeking information on the status and well being of the people of Cozumel.

The Mayor of Cozumel Gustavo Ortega met this morning with the cruise line representatives of Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Lines and the owners of stores on the main front and tour operators of Cozumel. After listening to the reports on the status of the island, tour operators and store owners made a commitment to the cruise lines and set up a date to start receiving Cruise Ship passengers starting on NOVEMBER 14 2005.

As of the Cruise lines representatives will be scheduling the first cruise ship arrivals to Cozumel starting on November 14 2005 using tenders to get the passengers from the ship to town where they are not able to dock on the piers that are already under reconstruction where damaged. Stores located on the main avenue of Cozumel and the first downtown area should be fully working by November 14 200 too. Tour operators will be reporting this next days until November 14 about the status of each tour trying to ensure full operation by this date.

In a statement issued by mr. Mario Molina president of Cruceros Maritimos and Aviomar stated that the ferry from CALICA to COZUMEL is now crossing to the island bringing trailers with food, gas, medicine and all the necessary things for rebuilt. They will be trying to be working 24 hours continuously to bring all the trucks that are now ready to arrive to Cozumel parked in Calica. In a statement also issued by Mr Gustavo Ortega is reported that a ferry from the Mexican navy is about to arrive to the island to help the trailers cross from Calica also.

The president Vicente Fox is schedule to arrive to Cozumel tomorrow morning (Thursday October 26) to see the work done so far to the island.

We now have electricity at 3 neighborhoods of Cozumel and expect to have it fully restored by tonight in 2 more. In other news we are happy to say that since Hurricane Emily that hit Cozumel this past summer there were not may trees in the island that could damage electrical and telephone posts this time, so mainly there are fallen posts rather than broken ones caused by fallen trees this past summer by hurricane Emily.

FOR VISITORS COMING TO COZUMEL THIS SEASON

Come to Cozumel will have the Official Statement to be issued by the hotel Association of Cozumel tomorrow morning with the status of each and every hotel in Cozumel.

We will also be posting daily information on the status of each hotel as soon as it is received.

For visitors arriving to Cozumel by cruise ships please contact your cruise line since the schedules will be changing before NOVEMBER 14 2005, We expect the first ship to arrive to the island on November 14 2005.

Once again we are proud to say that the island of Cozumel is always well prepared for hurricanes and the whole island is working very hard to have the island back up and ready to receive visitors by early November.

from this web site http://www.cometocozumel.com/english/wilma.asp

I wonder what this will mean for our cruise.

Has anyone booked their excursions yet?

I have not and I am not sure what to do. We were going to do the Conch Trolley, Southermost Point and Hemingway House in Key West (not sure of the status of KW).
Grand Cayman we were thinking of renting a car and driving to Rum Point Beach and just touring the island ourselves. In Cozumel we were planning on the Stingray excursion (not sure of the status of this excursion).

I feel like everything is up in the air, when is the latest that I should make our excursion plans? I'm a crusie rookie and rather concerned that we won't be able to go or do the things we had hoped for.

Can anyone tell me what information I can leave with my family in case of emergency. Is there a phone number to the ship? Thanks!

Macphrsn here is the info
What if someone needs to call me while I'm at sea?

Many people enjoy cruising, in part, because you can "get away from it all". But for those who can not bear to be out of touch, it is possible to allow others to call you while you're at sea.

There are three things that are required...

• Your caller will need to know which ship you're on (the Disney® Magic or Disney® Wonder.)

• Your caller will need to know your stateroom number.

• Your caller will need to be willing and able to charge the US$6.95/minute connection fee to a major credit card (MasterCard, VISA, Discover, American Express, or Diners Club.)

If everything is in order and your caller still wants to reach you, they should dial:

888-DC-AT-SEA
(888-322-8732)

This is a toll-free number accessible only from within the United States.

Callers from abroad may use this number:

+1 (732) 335-3281

This is not a toll-free number; international long-distance charges will apply.

Cheaper Alternative

If you anticipate wanting to keep in touch with loved ones while you're at sea, you may want to consider using the Internet Café. Although the fees for Internet access are higher than you'd pay a land-based Internet Service Provider, they are definitely more affordable than shipboard phone service.

Chicihoney,

Thank you for the contact information.

I really don't want to stay in touch with anyone, especially work!

But since my sister and parents will be caring for my 18 month old Labrador "Jack" (still very puppy). Jack gets into plenty of trouble so if something should happen I think I want to be made aware.

This will be a real challenge living 7 days without internet and a cell phone. I am sure we will be too busy and having a Magical time to miss keeping in touch with the real world.

I have searched all over trying to find this info, thank you again!

macphrsn i found it on www.dcltribute.com all the info is here. we will also contact our pet sitter from the ship to see how our two min pins doing and essie and make sure the minpins don't chase honey my cat

Thanks Diane for keeping us up to date. We were signed up for the caverns in Cozumel, but switched to the beach break. I talked to DCL about the caverns and it seems there is a lot of walking involved. My DD (sweet Chichihoney) has a bit of trouble with a lot of walking, so we thought it would be best to do the beach break. That is, of course, if we get to go to Cozumel. I think if we end up in Costa Maya, we will just play in the big salt water pool they have at the port.

Hey Gailyn, we should plan a place to meet at MVMCP. Maybe we can watch the parade together.

I've started packing, putting things aside that I know I want to take with us. Instead of packing away the summer stuff this year, I am just transferring it to my cruise suitcase. Is everybody ready????

We will be at the MVMCP too on Thursday!

We have a reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern for a character dinner at 5:30? or so. I plan on arriving at the park around 4 PM.

Where are you staying before the cruise?

Hey Diane,

Here are our excursions :moped: as of right now:

Key West - Trolley Tour
Grand Cayman - Stingray City and Island Tour
Key West - Beach Break
Have looked a like at Costa Maya just in case but haven't made any decisions.

Is anyone going to be at WDW on 12/2 besides us? :confused3

Linda ... I'm NOT ready. It's really sneaking up on me. I know we still have over 4 weeks and if I started getting ready now I would be okay, but I guarantee you'll see a note from me when we only have a few days and I'll be wondering where the time went!!!

Does everyone know about LIME GREEN MICKEY HEADS? It's our way of recognizing each other on the first day. Attach them to your luggage, your carry on and, of course, yourself. It's like meeting old friends as you wait to board, in the buffet line, out by the pool, etc on the first day. I remember one stunned husband last year - his wife kept greeting people, discovering who they were (what screen name) and chatting. He didn't understand how she could know so many people their first day on the cruise ship.

Diane :fish:

Hey Cindy, we'll all have to get together for a mini meet. We are staying off site at Westgate. We don't have dinner ressies, we did Liberty Tree Tavern at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It was very nice, we really enjoyed all the characters. If I get a chance I will post a picture of us tomorrow. Sarah got licked by Pluto, LOL!! :rotfl:

Diane,
Didn't know about the Lime Green Mickey Heads....we were trying to think of some way of marking our luggage and etc. I will definitely print some up....I think I have some lime paper right here in my scrapbook stuff.

I agree about how fast time is going to fly! It seems like only yesterday I was writing "125 days" on the calendar (yes I'm OCD too) and now it says "35". Next thing we'll know it'll be only 5 and I'll be running around like a chicken with it's head missing!

Oh Diane, reading your post just made me get all nervous, LOL! I am trying to stay calm, but I have so much to do. I want to get all the Christmas stuff finished before we leave, so I can just chill when we get home. (I'm living in fantasyland, aren't I? :teeth: )

You won't be alone, Kris! :rotfl2:  :hyper2:

Oh I would love to see your pics. Ryleigh loves Pluto, last year it took us four days to get a photo with him, but it was well worth the wait.

Yes a mini meet would be great. We will be a the Pop Century. We arrive about 10 AM on 12/01.

Oh my gosh, I haven't posted in a week and I missed 3 pages!!! I'm so happy that our activity has picked up and we're not on page 2 :cool1:

Our computer monitor blew on Tuesday and we didn't get a replacement until today. DH was making fun of me because I was having disboard withdrawal!!

I hope we get to stop in Costa Maya. I'd really like to see part of Mexico. I haven't been there since I went on a "booze cruise" on spring break in college a long long time ago :teeth:

Cindy - we also have a 5:30 ps at LTT on Thursday. We'd love to have a mini meet with Linda, Diane and others who will be at WDW!!

Matt and Nicole are really excited about their pen pals and are looking forward to more emails. We've planned that they'll go to the club after dinner the first night so they can meet some of their friends.

Diane-thanks for reminding me about the lime green mickey's!! I have to get busy!

I'm starting to put away the kids summer stuff too and will just put it right into their luggage! Last year I put complete outfits into gallon ziplock bags and it made getting dressed in the am much easier! No orange socks with pink shorts kind of thing!!

Well more later. I'm going to go outside and pull up summer flowers while it's nice!!

Gailyn :)

LTT dinner was great but a LOOOOONG wait even with ressies...I hope Linda, Ed, Sarah and I will 'eat off the street' this time! This way we will be able to go on/see a few more attractions - it seems as if we just RAN/scooted! from place to place....I want to visit some of the shops behind Cindy's Castle...as I recall they are very nice - we didn't even get into that part of the park....and hopefully it won't rain like it did on our :rolleyes1 'MSNBC' night .

Signed, Pat who is in search of a Turkey Leg!
