December 03, 2005 Western Magic?

I starting to look for a dress for my DD6 Christmas' photo. Need to make an appointment soon. I also have quite a bit of Xmas shopping done and plan on wrapping before we leave.

I put the artifical tree and decorations up before we leave. For the past two years we have gone to WDW at the same time of year. So I usually have my daughter's Christmas photo taken in November and get my Xmas cards ready to send over Thanksgiving. For the last two years I have taken my cards to Orlando and mailed them from there, not sure what I will be doing this time. Maybe I will mail them from Key West.

I love coming home from our trip to find my tree lights knowing that I'm ready for the holidays.

I'm going to start working on my card list soon. Last on done is a rotten egg!

Jeanna - champagne please :drinking: :cool1: Thank you!!!

Cindy - last year we got our Christmas cards on the Magic. We'll do the same this year, but we'll be a week later so I'll have to be VERY quick about getting them into envelopes and sent out. Maybe I'll bring the stamps and address labels with us and mail them from Port Canaveral when we get off the ship. And I completely agree how great it will be to come home to a decorated house!!! And hopefully all my presents purchased. I don't care if they are wrapped - but I better have bought all of them!!!

Jeanna, 2 for brunch is fine. Sorry you were waiting. Also, if Kim is asking, Champaign for us and for Greg's parents :) .

A neighbor and I did some more Christmas shopping today. I'm about half done   . Toys R Us had a big sale. I think the week of Oct 9th they have the big "2 for 1 board game sale". I really want to be finished shopping before we leave if possible :hourglass .

We put out Halloween decorations today. The kids loved it. It was a beautiful sunny day. I hope to have all of our Christmas decorating done before we go. Last year we got back from Disney on 12/10. We hadn't put up any decorations and my shopping wasn't done . Needless to say, it was a very rushed Christmas. We were even wrapping Christmas Eve after church. I'm determined not to do that again!!

DD8 and DS6 are ready for pen pals :grouphug: . Just pm me if your kids are interested!

Have a nice night!!

Brunch for two..... check!

It will be champagne for everyone then. We can only choose one type for everyone. For those of you (including myself) that would rather have Sparkling Cider, once onboard, they will switch it out for you. But they will not switch Sparkling Cider for Champagne.

That's all for now... back to cleaning the office. :badpc:

Hey Diane,

What kind of cards did they have on the Magic (Disney related)? I can just bring my labels, stamps and pictures and send them out. Have you ever mailed anything from Cosumel or Grand Caymen?

Hi Cindy - the Christmas cards we got on the Magic last year were the photo kind. We picked one of the pictures they took during the cruise. They had different (maybe 4 or 5) styles. I'll try to email it to you so you can see it. They all have the Disney Cruise logo and some have Mickey. I don't know if they have regular (non-picture) cards - I wasn't looking for them.

I wouldn't mail Christmas cards from any of the ports. They probably won't arrive until after Christmas. I've mailed lots of post cards from St Thomas when I used to go there for a week - always mailed them the first day and I was always home at least a week by the time they arrived. Still fun, but not with Christmas cards.

Hi Diane,

I would love to see your card. I was just wondering if they had any cards with the ship or characters. Maybe I could add a photo to my own cards. Any ideas on photo sizes, pricing? I could always send Happy New Year cards from one of the ports. Thanks for the info.

Cindy,
I think it was something like 75 cards for $55. Maybe Diane will remember better. :confused3 They turned out cute and we'll do them again this year. I didn't recall seeing any that weren't photo cards, but you could probably email or DCL or look online at merchandise.

I can't believe we have only two months to go. I'm so looking forward to time off work. It's been crazy this last couple months. I think it has something to do with transitioning from summer, to back to school to fall.....in conjunction with work and all the kids activities. Oh well, I can't wait to relax. I can taste the drink of the day already!!

I hope our weather this year is as great as last. I don't think I wore a jacket at all except at the sail away and when we got off the ship.

Has anyone found any cute kids pirate costumes? Disney Direct has them on sail, but I kind of wanted Capt. Hoook.

My diet is being blown off tonight. We ordered pizza and opened a bottle of wine. I was at a golf outing all day. It was windy, cool and rained off and on. I have hat hair and I'm just starting to warm up (must be the wine). I'm not a good golfer, just a beginner. I had to go to the outing for work. I can't imagine why people insisted on golfing in the rain. Maybe it grows on you..

All for now.

Jeanna,
How was your Disney trip? Did your family like the Halloween party?

PEN PALS

Hello parents of all the 5-7 year olds!!! My son Matt just sent emails to all of the 5-7 year olds that I could find. If any of kids want a pen pal please write back (DianeNJUSA@aol.com). And if I missed anyone just send me a note. We did pen pals last year and it was great!!! The kids felt like they had friends the minute they got on the ship.

Lizardman - are you still here? The list of on the first page is out of date. At least one dropped off and there are a few new people. It would be great to add a few more things to the list - excursions (so we know if there are other DISers with us), before and after plans, cabins and maybe real first names. What do you think? If you can't do it we can do copy/pastes at the end of the thread and keep it up to date that way.

Diane :fish:

Lizardman (or whoever is maintaining the list now), we moved cabins and are now in 8572. Our other rooms stayed the same. Thanks!

Diane,
We changed our email address recently. Our new address is: gmpopovich@sbcglobal.net Matt and Greg are going to the Browns game today and then we're having company for dinner, but I'll have Matt email your Matt this week. I also sent you a pm.

Matt and Nicole have been bugging me about pen pals. Anyone with 5 - 9 year olds feel free to send us an email. Matt is 6 1/2 and Nicole just turned 8. As Diane mentioned, the kids really enjoyed this last year and they made such nice friends. It really made the trip more special for all of us. :)

Great idea about updating our list with names and excursions. Unfortunately, I'm computer challenged and can't offer assistance. Is Lizardman still with us??

Is anyone considering Eagle Ray Divers in Cozumel or Rum Point Beach in GC??

gailyn i went with jeanna to the halloween party she had a good time
jeanna was the surprsed i didn't know she was coming until i picked her up at the airport

I received a copy of the Passporter's Field Guide and I found that some information contradicted what I had heard.

No more pin trading? - the book claims that due to "germs" that the staff no longer traded pins with the kids. This was something my family was really excited about doing? Is this really true?

Coolers? - The book claimed not to bring coolers? Do they mean hard-sided only?

I think I'm on information overload..... maybe I should just start packing now? :teeth:

they started the pin trading back up . they did cancel due to a illness

I hope they are still pin trading. My kids would enjoy it. Last year the DVC Rep gave them some "starter" pins and I bought them a couple. They thought it was a big deal.

What excursions is everyone doing???

Have we planned our Dismeet? Last year we did 3:00 at the Outlook Bar, and I can't remember the location if it was bad weather. Any thoughts on this? :confused3

Diane - Matt sent your Matt a message last night. He was so excited to get an email :Pinkbounc . How did you attach a picture?

Have a nice night!

It was fantastic. We had a whole surprise thing going for Sarah. She had no idea I was coming down until she saw me at the airport. It was great. Sarah thought she was there to pick up Pat's 'lost' luggage. My husband actually started throwing a temper tantrum at the resort pool the day before we were to leave. He said... "I wanna stay for 2 more days... Wheeeeyyy". It was so pathetic, it was funny. :rotfl:

The Halloween party was fantastic!! That was the first time I have ever been to something like that. The boys loved it too! We had a great time. Hope to go again next year. :earboy2:

I checked Lizardman's profile....
...his last date of Activity was 6/23/05 - so you probably won't be hearing from him......

It is a good idea to do an updated list at the end of the thread...and yiu can bump it up periodically.....

Jeanna really did surprise Sarah.....and I hope you are not sick...Sarah told me she caught my cold!

Hi fellow cruisers! I'm trying to find some girls, or even boys 9-12 who would like to start making friends early by e-mailing each other. jeks@wk.net is the address. We would like to get as many e-mails as there are kids to help them feel more comfortable about meeting once on board. We also have a 4 yr old girl in our group that we could help her e-mail new friends. Can't wait to see everyone!!
