Dec temps

Florida weather is very fickle (coming from a native Floridian). I have gone to the beach in January and I have bundled up in layers of sweaters in the beginning of December for my son's birthday. You just never know. The one thing for sure is that typically the colder it is in the morning, it will warm up in the afternoon, but even that isn't a sure thing.

Having said that, we are planning to camp at FW in January. I'm sure the weather won't be anything we can't handle.

We bring winter jackets and shorts, usually during a 10 day stay you will use both. If there isnt any rain the temps warm up after sunrise and by mid morning its pleasant. If the rains come, it can stay cool and blustery for a while. IMHO the key is to be flexible with your schedule and work around the weather. We have gone 5 out of the last 6 years during Christmas and some years are nice and some arent so nice, no matter what itts always better than the weather at home :thumbsup2

WOW, when the kids were growing up the Jul 4 and/or Aug were our favorite, but since then the Xmas season is the best for us and we were there in 2000, 2005/06 and now for 2007/08. We really enjoy Xmas at the resorts, decorations, and if staying long enough into Jan which for use is the middle to late the really low crowds to catch what you missed during the really peak times. We actually concentrate during the peak 20 to 1 to 5 Jan time frame on shows, resorts, shopping, parades, hitting the big restaurants if we can get ADRs, miniature golf, goofing off and leave the serious rides unless we get lucky for the January time frame. About the only exception used to be the Xmas Country Bear, but that might be a BTDT type of thing. Being able to stay at FW for extended periods just makes the whole experience more enjoyable for us overall.

We stay at The Fort every December and absolutely love the weather at that time of the year. While it can get chilly at night, tent camping is absolutely "do-able". We used to tent-camp, but now have a 5W. Regardless, we have learned some things along the way. It's best to have beds off the floor. We use electric blankets at night over our sleeping bags. We just warm them up about an hour before we know we are going to bed and we fall asleep immediately. They do an excellent job of keeping you warm without running a portable heater. Personally, we never slept well when the portable heater was on. Our 13 yo daughter still sleeps outside in a pretty large tent. She definitely prefers having her own space that includes her bed, cable TV and gaming system .... a lot more than she could have in the 5W, and she can watch Hannah Montana all day long without driving the rest of the family crazy. We recently stayed at FW in August and didn't let her stay outside because of the heat ..... she complained vehemently that she can't wait to get back in December so she can sleep outside!:thumbsup2

most of our wdw trips have been in dec or early Jan,, usually we got a night or 2 of cold weather( ie low 40s, mid-high 30s) but when we stayed at FW made sure we took warm sleepwear and good bags with a couple extra blankets to put on the floor and were fine...from what i recall( it's been a while since we camped there) the bathrooms are heated so that wasn't a problem even if it was cold..
