Dec or June

If your choices for a cruise were early June or mid December which would you book and why? Thanks! I love this board as you always have such good and wise advice!

Depends on where you are from. If you are from the great white north, then the cooler temps of december won't matter. CC can be quite cool in dec, jan and feb. Also, if you are from the cooler climes, you can brag that what ever the temperature is on the cruise it is warmer than back home. (LOL)
We've cruised in winter and summer and it was enjoyable either way. I believe that it's cheaper in the late fall and winter than in the summer, so that may be a determining factor. The main thing is just going and having a good time!

I would definitely go for December because of all of the wonderful Christmas decorations and festivities! Nothing beats snow on Castaway Cay!

The prices are EXTREMELY different during those two months! You could probably get a 7 in Dec for the price of a 4 in June.

We are anxious to see the Christmas decorations, and I'm paying for 7 people on this cruise, so price was a huge factor.

We sailed on the Wonder June 13-17 2004...I could not even tell that we were on a ship until the last night when I felt a very small amount of movement. I was amazed at how smooth the sailing was. From what I understand your chances for calm seas are much better in June than in December. So, if this is a factor for you then it is worth taking note.

The first time we cruised DCL, I gave my pre-teen daughter the choice. Hands down, she chose summer time. She just couldn't picture herself on a beach in a sweatshirt.
We are going in Dec this year, though......we know that the water will be cold in Key West and Castaway Cay....but the other ports are far enough down, it will be hot there...so it balances out.

Thanks everyone!! We are leaning toward going in June as we usually vacation in the summer. I agree about the ship at Christmas I know it would be lovely. We live in the south with mild winters so excaping snow would not factor in. You are so right in the price difference. I think we may go on the 4 day on our first trip as noone has ever cruised before. I also talked to my dks 7 & 10. They voted for summer as I thought they would.

You can't lose either way -- there are benefits to both!
Yes, I 'm sure it will be one of the most enjoyable difficult decisions you'll ever have to make!

1) Much, much lower pricing
2) Better weather...June is for lack of a better word "steamy"
3) mid December ship is beautifully decorated and festive for the holidays...
