Dec. 7, 2008 4 nite Mousefest Cruise - who's all going?

I've started to set things aside that the girls won't miss.
The weather here this morning is saying rain mixed with SNOW :scared1: for next tuesday.

Bumping us up a bit....we're too close to our date to be on page 4!!! Anyone else getting excited???

Yes I am getting very excited, I cannot believe how fast October is going. I found a great deal on some summer skirts yesterday that I plan on wearing, so I think I have all my clothes now.

Does everyone plan on dressing up for the Pirate party, I don't really have anything but I guess now would be a good time to look with all the halloween costumes out.

Yea, my mom and I are dressing up. She even bought a corset at the recent rennaisance festival we had in town. My costume should arrive in the mail today. Do ppl dress up at dinner too or just for the party at 9pm? Be careful about with that sjirt. I've been warned about the decks and folks looking up and getting a bird's eye view  So needless to say no skirts for me. I'll be wearing my capri leggings with my pirate costume's skirt.

I am impressed that you still have the suprise going:thumbsup2 , I have not told the girls about the March cruise yet, but it is getting so hard, I so want to talk to them about the cruise as I know they will be so excited. I think I will tell them when I get back from the Dec cruise, I will try and get Mickey to sign a post card for the girls asking them to come and give it to them when I get back.

I bet the colours of the leafs in your area must be amazing. We were up at Sauble Beach this weekend and I could not believe the colours, they were wonderful. I will keep my fingers crossed that the snow stays away. Winter is way too long.

Lisa

They are actually golf skorts, so I will be ok. It does get windy and the one thing that I really wished I had on the last cruise was bigger and stronger hair clips, as we always seemed to have hair blowing in our eyes, so I will make sure to pack them this time.

Lisa

I dress up a bit for the Pirate party....nothing big though. I think the Pirate Party is fun, but I found it to be a bit longish the last time I went. I did wear my pirate shirt and necklace to dinner that night though. I may have to look into a bit more of a costume for this cruise. Don't want to be a party pooper!!

We are super excited too. It will be here before we know it.

Did anyone book one of the 2010 summer cruises? We booked the 12 Night Northern European Capitals cruise for 7/18/2010.

We surprised our boys back in May 2006 with our cruise. They had no idea until we got all the way to the DCL terminal and we were dropping off our luggage. We told them we were going to the port to wave goodbye to the ship. It was our now ds11's 9th birthday and we handed him one more wrapped gift which were our cruise documents. They were shocked and thrilled. My parents and FIL also joined us on the cruise and the boys were equally surprised with them coming along. We managed to pack all their clothes for the week with out them knowing, complete with pirate costumes and tuxedos. I had to measure them when they were sleeping to get the right sizes!

Our boys will either be in pirate costumes or pirate t-shirts and dark pants for dinner and the party. DH and I will either wear our Pirates in the Caribbean shirts we bought onboard one of our cruises or I'll wear a peasant style top and black skirt with a beaded waist. We are limited with 1 suitcase each so we are trying to pack light. Something tells me we'll be paying for a couple of extra bags though!

Hanover congrats on your 2010 cruise booking:cool1: May I ask how many ppl are booked in what cat room and the total cost? I've been reading other threads that suggest it overly $$$$ to take a family on one of these and this has made me look to other cruise lines for the same deal at a cheaper rate. I've seen some good ones too but I wanted to sail with disney ofcourse and one day join the DVC but it's pricey to buy out right and re-sales, well I'm still learning about all that.........

You are so lucky, I wanted to do the Baltics but I think I will wait till the girls are older. I really, really wanted to do the WB TA, but there is no way I can take the girls our of school is September.

I also looked at spring break 2010, but the prices have gone up so much that I decided to book the RCCL Freedom for much less than DCL.

I have to be so careful about what I say. I agree that is gets harder and harder the closer we get not to tell them. The colours are beautiful. They are no longer calling for snow on tuesday just rain now :)

I'm sure it will be an amazing cruise. I talked my DH into this first cruise I'm thinking we will like it enough that he will be asking when we can book the next one.

We haven't decided how to tell the girls yet. We are thinking about telling them we are going to Disney and then surprise them when we get to the terminal with the cruise part of our trip.

Do most people dress up for pirate night?

Morning all. Bumping up. Just days weeks away from cruisin bliss:cloud9:

I am hoping to make some magnets today, but this is something new for me.

What is the size of most magnets? When I think magnets I think small fridge ones but looking at pictures of some of the doors it looks like most are 8 1/2 by 11.

Lisa

No one has suggested any times so I thought I would throw out a suggestion,

How about 2:00 for adults at the Adult pool on the Sunday and then for families at 3:00 probably the Promendade Lounge is the best spot. They would be short meets, just a quick hi.

I know it is going to be crazy busy, as I am sure People will have Mousefest things that they are going to want to do.

Please if someone has some better places and times please chime in.

I probably won't be able to make the 2:00 meeting at the adult pool because I will be with my family, but I think meeting at the Promenade Lounge at 3:00 would work out great for us. I think it would be much easier to meet there then at the sailaway party. I am looking froward to meeting everyone!!!!!!! :cool1:

Vicki

May I make another suggestion? I won't be arrivng at the port until about 1pm (I think) I'm taking the DCL motorcoach from my resort. That will put me there too late for an early meet. Maybe we can meet up either before the sail away party or right before dinner? I really don't know, just thinking out loud.

I just bought a pak from Staples for $13.49 with 4 sheets of inkjet magnetic paper size 8 1/2 X 11. I'm assuming you can cut it down to size or shape. I haven't done my magnets yet but hopefully will have them completed in 3 weeks.

Any other suggestions about meetups anyone?

I am open to meeting up with everyone with whatever time works out best for everyone. I know that there is the mandatory lifeboat drill at 4:00 and then the Sailaway Party at around 5:00. Maybe we could meet just before sailaway or during the party--if we have a specific location, so that is easy to find one another during the party--since it can get crowded.

I also can still meet at 3:00, but I know this time may not work for others. What does everyone else think? Maybe we could have 2 different meet times too.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone!!:cool1:

Based on our past DCL cruises (6 so far) and Dismeets, it's been my experience that the ones with the largest turn out have been near the Mickey or Goofy pool, especially the ones by Mickey's hand near the pool bar. We've had a meet in the Promenade lounge but not many showed because their kids didn't want to get out of the pools on embarkation day. On our Med cruise, we had the meet on a sea day and had a huge turn out since it was later on the trip and no rush to get somewhere that day. It would probably be good too if people could start posting family pictures so we know who to look for. I have met many Disers who did not show up at our meet that way too. We'll be cruising with friends (I tried to get her to Dis, but no deal) and will make my best effort to meet up where we agree upon.

3:00 has been the time for all our meets except for the Med cruise and worked out great. It gives people time to eat, check out their staterooms and take a quick swim.

I agree that getting the kids out of the pool can be a challenge.

I am fine with 3:00 at the pool, but can some pick an exact place.
