Since I do not plan on bringing a cell phone or laptop with me, they will either have to spend a ton of money on phone calls or tie 2 soup cans together with a whole lot of string to get in touch with me.

Our d/w decided to quit pumping out the water this week.

It's over 7 years old. The parts & labor would cost almost as much as a new one.

Did you realize there are over 14 things to decide on when you purchase a d/w?

Anything from color, tub material, crystal & china wash cycle, noise reduction, hard food disposer, plate warmer, sanitary rinse and rinse & hold cycle.

Anyone have thoughts on plastic tub vs: stainless steel?

This post is only remotely related to our trip, but mostly I just want to plug our local children's hospital - aptly named "St. Louis Children's Hospital". DD4 had to have a cyst removed from her tongue on Thursday (which is why I haven't been around). I am so impressed with the hospital. They let the kids choose a scent for their oxygen mask and help them practice with it (they get to take the mask home too), they let them bring a stuffed animal into the OR with them, which means they put a "necklace" (ID bracelet with DD's name, etc) on her stuffed animal. So, we let DD pick any stuffed animal she wanted to take, and she picked Mickey Mouse. She told the nurses that he had to get a bump taken off his tongue too. When she was in recovery, we saw that they put a band aid on Mickey's chin and taped a mickey-sized oxygen mask to him.

Those are just a few examples of how they cater to kids there. I had always heard great things (this hospital is ranked #5 in the country last I heard), but experiencing it firsthand was very cool! If you ever need a kids' hospital, I highly recommend it.

DD4 says she's going to tell the real Mickey Mouse thanks for having surgery with her She's been carrying him around with his mask since we got home!

When my son went in for heart surgery I was completely shocked that they let me hold him until he fell asleep, a fellow DIS'er sent him a pluto from Mickey of course to protect him while he slept, they put a bracelet around his neck with my son's information so they knew he belonged to.

The people here on the DIS are just so amazing he received so many gifts from mickey while he was in the hospital to keep his mind off of being there.

I notice some folks have a picture either beneath their message or beneath their screen name. I have a picture I would like to post ( Don, me and Stitch) in either of these places, but I don't have a clue about how to do it.

I can send it in an e-mail, but that doesn't help.

Can anyone help me?

I don't know how to post a picture under the signature but I do under the screen name. First, go to user CP, then edit avatar. Scroll to the bottom where it says use custom avatar and choose option 2 to select an image saved on your computer. That is where you'll select where your image is. Hope this helps!

So happy things worked out great . She'll probably always remember that. My oldest vivid memory is when I was 3 and had to have surgery. I'll never forget the nurse that was helping and how she told me it was a mask she used when she was child. I know now that she was just telling me that but it sure helped me from being scared.

To put it in your signature, you need to have it on photobucket (or something like that). Then you go to User CP (have to be logged in to have that menu option), and edit your signature. Paste the image address from photobucket. To copy it from photobucket, select the photo within photobucket and copy the address that is in the last field within the box that pops up.

I am typing this from memory, so if you have any trouble, let me know and I'll go through it again myself to get you better instructions.
