Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Nope, you need to pack a parka, wooly mittens, thick, waterproof boots and don't forget your toque eh?

Ooops, sorry, I was thinking of an Alaskan Cruise!:cool2::rolleyes1:rotfl2:

Not necessarily so funny, I've seen kids in parkas and mittens at WDW in December! It can get pretty cold at night for those fireworks/parades. For just the cruise, summer clothes will work. But I am definitely bringing warmer clothes to be prepared for Dec weather at WDW. Maybe that will guarantee that I don't need them. :cutie:

So true:thumbsup2 We were there during record loes in (I believe) 2000. Highs were rigth at teh freezing point:eek: We realized then that we do not STAND around in shaded lines out in the cold normally. Brrrr. It was still cold at port on the cruise the following week, and pretty chilly on the first day of the cruise.

We have had two oterh late fall/early winter cruises where it was cool and breezy on embarkarion day (jeans and a light jacket weather) and Castaway was pretty chilly. So far the long range forcasts look good for us--but keep checking and have at least one warmer outfit packed just in case.

You need regular pants for the dining rooms, I don't think shorts are acceptable for dinner. I'd bring a sweater, too, as the public parts of the ship can be cool.

If you're spending any time at WDW before or after the cruise, I'd also bring a few warmer clothes. I've been to WDW at the beginning of December for a few years now and the weather ranges from jeans/jacket all day to shorts/tshirt even late into the evening for MVMCP. It's not predictable.
I have had both extremes. In early December one year, it was an average high of 95 degrees all week! Another time, I felt like I hadn't left Chicago, as it was 30 degrees!

As Scar would say, "Be Prepared!"

Rosemary, I do not have it in front of me but I think we have pirate night on the 8th when we leave Tortola.

Marika is back home sick again! All the same symptoms as last week (but not quite as bad) after three days of being totally fine. I tried calling the doctor--but the office is closed because the doctor is sick. The message said to call the other pediatrician in town (they cover for each other). Called there, got a message that THAT doctor is sick and to call Marika's doctor:rolleyes: The pharmacist says he has seen many, many kids relapse so it is not something to worry about in and of itself (pharamcists here are very doctore like and a better choice than the doctor to visit for minor stuff--I love them). Meanwhile, of the 9 teachers Rio should have today, 7 are out sick. He will have 3 45 minute classes between 7:45 and 2:35 and then get to come home an hour and a half early. I think the entire city must have this!
Hadley,

I also hope Marika is feeling better. My office has had the colds making the rounds, but it seems to have passed on by at this point.

I look forward to meeting everyone in a little over 2 weeks!

Thanks:goodvibes She'll pull through. Her cough subsided during the night and she has been sleeping very well and breathing easily :thumbsup2 She is still asleep, so I do not know if she is still dizzy or has a sore throat or not, but hopefully she is nearly back to normal now.
I'm glad you were able to avoid the cold going around your office.

Hi all,

will it really be shorts and tank top weather?
I am just not sure what to pack.

thanks!
:cool2:

Thank you!! I'm just starting to pack and this info is a great help. :goodvibes

The days rush by like children running, the hours creep like old men under a heavy load. I can't wait to get on that plane! :yay:

I have the t-shirts in the dryer as I type. I am going to make an oval over the "pocket" area of the front of the shirt. Then use our cruise motto/pix on the back.

I may also come up with reasons to cruise on DCL. Gotta see how creative my brain will be today.

I am going to have the dkids try on capri pants this afternoon under the guise of "let's pack them away for the consignment shop" if they don't fit.

AND if they don't fit, I still have time to order some from Lands End :lmao:

But I don't think Dkids will allow it.
DD6 has just lost her 1st 2 teeth! How the heck is she going to eat all that glorious food now????:rotfl:

oh that was just mean:mad::lmao:
Holly can sing "all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" now--and she'll be fine to eat everything but corn on the cob from cookie's BBQ:upsidedow Missing teeth certainly won't affect her roll throwing abilities:rolleyes:

Can you put both of the pix of our logo on The Info page?

I want one of the logo big enough for a logo on our t-shirts.

Some of the families might want to use it for t-shirts, journals, magnets, etc.

Thanks a BUNCH!!!

Can you tell me how to? I don't know how to do anything with graphics--sorry:flower3: Otherwise I can ask Dave to help me do it this weekend.

I have to confess I have NO idea how to do it.

I can right click lots of stuff but I can't do the pix in a post. Sorry.

Maybe someone else on our thread can help us out.

Hadley,

When you send a message you can insert an image. There is a picture of mountains at top to insert. I'm not sure if that is big enough for a shirt though. You could e-mail the actual image if that doesn't work. Someone else may have a better idea of how to do it.

On the magnet page, the DISsigners save it in photobucket and then post the link.

Thanks for the info on the DTD DVC sale Texdisneygal!

Our FE was delivered this afternoon and I wanted to share a picture. We have another FE done by the same person (grady's mom on ebay) but I really wanted one with Christmas colors since we've beens sailing 4 Decembers in a row and will also sail next December:

Mine are still being made by my Saint of a Sister-In-Law - it will be two sided so we can be prepared for Pirate night!! We are so so excited, Thanksgiving is not getting the attention it usually does around here!!

Hadley, I hope Marika is feeling better soon. Sounds like the school has been hit hard.

I think it's peaked here, but kids are still getting sick. I know the school has started giving out Purrell as soon as the kids get on the bus from the driver, then after recess/before lunch and at the end of the day. They are also asking for antibacterial wipes for the kids to have to wipe their desks down every couple of days.

My friend's son that had the 104 fever last week is still sick with what his doctor said is just a virus. He was negative for H1N1. Her younger son now is at the start of it and her older son tested positive yesterday for strep (he was negative last week). That's the 3rd virus they have had this year. My other friend whose daughter was hospitalized last week with H1N1 complications including pneumonia has also had 3-4 viruses go through their family this year. I'm still holding my breath that we remain virus free.

I have yet to start putting my FE stuff together in bags or start packing clothes but I have an idea what I'll be bringing. I just hope everything still fits since I haven't worn them since our last 7 day cruise.

Hoping all the kids feel better soon! On our last 7 day cruise my oldest son started complaining of a terrible stomach ache at dinner, I was planning to take him to the ship's doctor when he announced it might be the apple juice drinking contest he and another boy had earlier in the day. He drank 12 glasses of apple juice! When I relayed the story later to another passenger, she told me had we gone to the ships doctor, we probably would have been quarantined for the rest of the cruise in case it was the flu! So check for any juice drinking contests prior to taking anyone to the clinic on the ship!!

Love that sense of humor! We are staying for the weekend when we return from the cruise and in my usual stubborn Irish way, I am planning for good weather and will probably end up buying new Disney sweatshirts!!!
