Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

We're driving down from NC Friday. Not sure how far we'll go before stopping for the night. Plan to park at the terminal (unless we find a great deal at a nearby hotel). Have to drive straigh home, dd is in Christmas musical on the morning of the 13th.

Wow! Hope she practices a lot during the cruise!:rotfl: Ya Right! Just the same amount that my kids will be doing their homework ;)

Hmmm, do you think this thread will reach 100 pages before the cruise?

So many answers--wow. I love it:thumbsup2

Just booked with Fl Tours, we will not be arriving until sat.:scared1: I know I know:scared1: but all of us HAVE to work fri.......any one else arriving sat. morning?
When we return we will head to AKL for the night then head back home sunday night. :woohoo:
I know lots of people do arrive day of and do just fine. You have an advantage that you are comming from the South--not a lot of winter storms in Texas in November to delay your flight:thumbsup2 Personally, I would never be able to take the stress:rolleyes: but I have always been a worry wart.

Oh what fun for yoru daughter. Rio really misses being in shows. What show is your daughter doing? There are so many good things out there these days. Rio and Marika were in Christmas at the OK Corral last year--which was cute:goodvibes

You're up late! It's 8:00 o'clock here:goodvibes We had daylight savings last weekend, so I knwo we are one hour closer to US time now--until Sunday anyway:rotfl2: When in Canada changing (or do you not?). I am thinking it must be midnight or 1:00 for you, right? And you were telling ME to get to bed a couple of days ago:confused3:rotfl:

Ooops:confused3:upsidedow:confused:

Can't sleep. Had a meeting here at my place. 6 couples getting together to discuss church type stuff, marriage etc. Had too many cups of coffee. Rather than spend the night coughing and keeping up DW, figured I'd check (again) for Tea ressies

Oh and by the way, Canada will change clocks with the USA. (Can't be different from our biggest trading partner)

Any luck with the tea ressie? I know all about DISsing when you can't sleep--but for me too much coffee is never the issue; I can't stand the stuff;)

We'll have a rental car and will be taking it from WDW to the port. We were very pleased that DH just managed to knock off $100 total from our 8 days in a full size car with Alamo last night. For months we couldn't get below $350.

About the DCL Houseparty---it's a marketing type of party that is run through "Houseparty.com" where people can sign up to host different parties. You fill out a basic questionnaire and sometimes you get chosen, sometimes you don't. I did a DCL house party last year and one for the Mickey's Mom's Club. Basically, you invite some friends, family and neighbors over to socialize and go over the "topic" of the party with materials that house party sends from the company that is the topic. You don't have to "sell" anything just explain your experience with cruising, show photos, play cruise music, etc. For the party last year, DCL sent a CD to show about cruising, a few ideas/small items for playing games, recipe cards, an iron-on for the host for a t-shirt, a small photo album to give away, a Mickey plush to give out and I got a $50 OBC for hosting. It was the 1st time DCL did it and they were originally going to give everyone $50 OBC for new bookings but that didn't happen. I know that they had a sweepstakes where hosts and guests were able to apply for 2 free cruises. I know a couple Disers won that. If you check out the houseparty website you can click on the DCL party and see who is hosting, etc. They ask everyone hosting to upload pictures from their parties and they send hosts and guests questionnaires to see how they liked it.

I have to download our boarding passes in about an hour. It's hard to believe we'll be at WDW tomorrow. We got a room at a hotel near BWI airport tonight so we don't have to get up super early tomorrow to make it on time. Keegan has a football game this afternoon so we are going to have him shower and head straight down. We used the packing cubes and they really worked out well. We managed to only use 2 duffle bags which is a miracle for us. They both weigh in the low 30 lb range. The material of the cubes is very, very lightweight and has mesh on the sides.

Have a happy Halloween!

How is everyone getting to/from the port?

We will be leaving from are house on Sat morning it takes about 45 min to an hr depending on traffic to get there and Ron loves to get there early...:)

Are you keeping the car and parking at the port while you're on the cruise? That's what I did for our 4 night cruises but now the cost of car rental has increased so much as has the parking. I think port parking is up to $15 per day.

Yes, this time we are parking at the port. We have gotten a hotel in the past at the port and just paid $3 for a shuttle to the terminal and it was cheaper than paying for port parking. We're meeting up with some of DH's family that will be cruising with us in Orlando Friday and staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge. Usually it's still a tad cheaper to just keep the car than have 2 different rentals for us.

We are taking private transfers too. A little more
flexibility as time goes. If we need to stop at Walmart or Target for
some last minute things we can do that too. I tried typing the name
of the company but it but it did this *****

Jessica is supposed to have a piano recital the Saturday after we get back. I wonder if there is piano on board we could get to so she could practice a little.....

Samantha has a school play the days after we get back. She will
be missing the full practice performances days before. We haven't
told the director yet..oppps. They are doing Jungle Book for kids,
we haven't seen the movie yet.

We are driving to port as well. Unfortunately our drive is not as nice as yours. We are leaving Friday from Pennsylvania and stopping for the night in Georgia. Our plan is to get to port by 1:00 Saturday as long as our side trip to the Outlets in St. Augustine doesn't take too long. One year we got all the way to Georgia and realized we didn't pack sandals for the cruise. Needless to say I also map out all the Outlet Malls just in case.

Thanks! Rosemary

We've done that drive too from Toronto! Took us 6 hours to get to Morgantown, 12 hours to get to Charlotte, NC. We considered that drive as well for the 6 of us, but, as much as the drive south would have been exciting, and we would have made it fun, the long drive back to Canada, racing to get the kids home in time for school on the Monday was too much to consider.

Driving is still an option however if our flights get screwed up last-minute
