Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

O.K. I have a suggestion for a question. What is your favorite ride at a Disney Park? I love too many of them but I will try to to come up with one or two.

Me - Expedition Everest/Kilimanjaro Safaris
DH - Space Mountain/Expedition Everest

Have a great week!

What is your favorite ride at a Disney Park?

Me: Space Mountain, and now Splash Mountain

Christine: The Peter Pan Ride or The Haunted Mansion

Erik: The Buzz Lightyear Ride (Did it 7 or 8 times in a row by himself because the lineup was so short)

Holly: The Peter Pan Ride

Peter: The last time he didn't know he was on a ride, but Pirates of the Caribbean scared the heck out of him. I'd say Dumbo's ride or the Carousel

O.K. I have a suggestion for a question. What is your favorite ride at a Disney Park?

Great Question! I too love so many of them I'll have to narrow it down.

Me: Favorite is Aerosmith Rock'n'Rollercoaster with Everest close behind.

DH (Jarrod): His is the opposite with Everest his favorite and Aerosmith a close second.

DD (Haley): same as DH

DS (Cameron): On his last trip at 2 1/2, I think he got as much enjoyment from riding on the forms of transportation (Monorail, bus, boats) as he did the rides. As far as actual rides, he loved just about everything in Fantasyland. I'm looking forward to our next trip because he'll be tall enough to ride Splash, Thunder Mountain, Dinosaur, Test Track, and ToT (don't think I'll let him on that one though)

It would have been Buzz Lightyear until Toy Store Midway Mania opened. Now that one is easily my favorite ride at WDW. Crush's Coaster is probably my favorite overall Disney ride but that's in Paris.

now that's a tough one, at WDW it's buzz lightyear and toystory mania, but at DL, it's storybookland canal boats and casey jr circus train.

Sooooo,

It's may 25. 7 months from today and it's Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everybody!:cheer2::santa:

Hi everybody. Sorry i am not around much lately. I have just been so busy trying to evict deadbat tenants and now the doctor's just called and moved Marika's surgery up from June 17 to June 3 so that is going to eat up some of my time as well (but it is good to get it done and over with for her).

Disneyland Paris was fun. Crush's coaster was a blast! We braved the hour long line twice for it (normally we do not wait in lines over 20 minutes, but had to do this one--besides Disneyland Paris does not handle crowds well--you can only do so much to avoid lines there:sad2:).
Other than Crush's the studios did not really do much for us (well, the HSM show was a lot of fun also) but WOW to Disneyland park! The attention to detail there totally blows away WDW (and I love the attention to detail at WDW). The entire park is just gorgeous with millions of little nooks and crannies to explore and i love the Jule Vern theme they used for their version of TomorrowLand. The beauty and detail made up for the inabality to handle crowds and the terrible food and mediocre customer service:rolleyes1 It was also great fun to compare the similar items between the parks.

I love this question of the week, but I cannot narrow it down at all! Here is my best shot:
Me--Haunted Mansion, Soarin', Festival of the Lion King and the Paris versions of Big Thunder Moutain and Small World (what can I say, I love that ride:confused3)
Dave: If it counts his hands down favourite Disney anything is Fantasmic.
Marika: NO contest--Mission Space (the "real" version), Carosel of Progress is runner up
Rio: TTA (yes seriously), Paris' Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear.

Ok, so I'm a rookie when it comes to the Disney cruises but not regular cruising.

For the theme nights being put on, (eg the Pirate night), are all restaurants observing that theme night? Or just the night you get a certain restaurant do you get to dress up?

I'm trying to figure out the best Palo night for me and my bride but I don't want to miss the fun with the kids that evening either.

Will DCL have a schedule out of which night is which before we book any reservations?

Just read this link on another thread on this board. This is the place I told you about that promotes itself as being the creator of the Banana Daquiri. Who knows? Maybe they'll have it rebuilt by our cruise?

I doubt it. :confused3

Ok, Hadley's quite busy handling the urgent matters in the family life. Hope that the surgery for Marika is not too serious.

So, here's my attempt at covering for Hadley. I know we discussed our favourite meals/drinks/desserts but this is a slight twist on the meal portion. (Ok, I got a brain cramp)
What is THE HIGHEST priority menu item that you will definitely order (at least once) while on your cruise? It could be the first thing you order, or a simple must have at least once.

Me: Breakfast, eggs benedict along with any special Disney breakfast might be around.

Christine: Fresh Fruit (none of this crated 'wait 3 weeks till it arrives in Canada' stuff)

Erik: Ice Cream Sundae

Holly: Anything that the other kids have that looks yummy

Peter: Whatever Mommy is having

Hey Tower--To answer your question on dining, there will be three nights that are"rotational nights" During those nigths you will eat the menu specific to the restruraunt you are in (and you will spend one of each of those nights in each of the main dining rooms). The other four nights will all have a theme (pirates, captain's gala, etc.) and everyone will have the same menu and theme on those nights no matter where you dine. If you search around here on the DIS you can find which nights DCL tends to have each theme/rotation night, but things can occasioanlly change; there is no absolutely set schedule.

Marika's surgery os not really that major. It is oral surgery for an eye tooth that has not come down like it should and instead grew sideways under her gum and has lodged itself in the bone in the roof of her mouth (ouch!). It is outpatient and she will miss 2 days of school plus the weekend to recover. But, the only surgeon in the area who does this surgery does not speak English (not that they should have to--but I have been lucky many doctors here do) and my German is still very sketchy so that adds to the difficulty factor:rolleyes1

You have great questions!

Foods we HAVE to have:

Me: Fountain Coke with lots of ice and all the refills I want:lmao: and fresh pineapple:cloud9:
Dave: Escargot at Lumieres--a treat he only ever has on the ship
Marika: Lobster, crab legs and shrimp cocktail (oh she has expensive tastes:rolleyes1 George--you may want to steer Sean away:rotfl2:)
Rio: Triple Decker grilled cheese, mozarella sticks and creme brule (he says "but mostly creme brule:rolleyes:)

Me: Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi on Pirate Night (assuming the menu isn't changed by then).

DH (Jarrod): He's pretty easy to please. He'll definitely be eating his fair share of Hamburgers. As long as it doesn't have raw onions on it, I've never seen a hamburger he didn't like.

DD10 (Haley): She was really looking forward to the Peanut Butter Pie, but it appears that it has been removed from the menu. Second would probably be the Mickey Mouse Ice Cream bar. She loves those things and ask for them constantly at WDW

DS3 (Cameron): Hmmm.... that's a tough one. Not sure. I guess we'll have to wait and see what his mood is then.

I'm no veteran Disney cruiser (yet) but I read in another thread that they happened to mention to the chef as he passed by that they missed a particular item no longer on the menu. The chef agreed that it was a favourite. The next day, there were 6 of those long lost favourites waiting for them at their table.

In other words, this is Disney. There is no harm in asking.

I sure hope so :) I wouldn't mind trying a piece of that pie either.

This is an easy question.......it is the same for me and my husband.

The chocolate cake at Palo!!!!!!

My son actually ate escargot on our last cruise, but it was to impress one of our tablemates who just happened to be very cute and his age.:lmao::lmao:

A favorite food onboard would have to be anything from the Palo brunch. I love the crab legs, etc. and never have any room left by the time we get to dessert.

In the regular dining rooms, I can't say I have anything in my memory that stands out as being really fantastic that I have to have it again.

Absolutely worth asking, I agree:thumbsup2 We have seen similar magic before.

Too funny!:rotfl2:

Okay--so it is nothing special and in fact a totally regular food but the kids have reminded me that I go searching through all the lounges/club every afternoon looking for chips and salsa:upsidedow I don't know why but I love the chips and salsa when they put them out (sometimes they will in the Promenade and sometimes in Diversions--but you never know if there will be anythign there or not--when Diversions does have them they also tend to have nacho cheese sauce and sour cream).
