Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

aloha,
We are planning to eat at Artist Pointe on our first night. What do you recommend on their menu.
For us must places to eat is La Cellier, California Grill, Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian and Raglan Road....mmmmm. Getting hungry thinking about it.

aloha,
hawaiian mickey

I always have their planked salmon and their cobbler for dessert. I also had a salad when we were there in March that was one of the best I've ever had. It was greens with some kind of champagne dressing and candied nuts. My husband loves the mushroom soup although I can't vouch for it because I'm allergic to mushrooms so I've never had it.

My DH (29, electrical engineer) and I (30, "retired" attorney) just booked this cruise ... it will be our first! We are leaving the kids at home and looking forward to a great Caribbean vacation. :yay:

Welcome Tex! It's going to be a great cruise!

Come back often and check out the other posts. NHDisneymom posts a weekly question so that we all get to know each other better before meeting on the ship. This will be our first Disney cruise, but 5th cruise overall (2nd for the kids)

Like your DH, I'm an engineer as well (civil) and DW is a retired production manager and full time at home with the 3 kids.

Talk again soon.

We just booked this (changed our ressie from the 4 night). Cannot wait! This is our fourth DCL cruise. Me (44), DH (44), DS (8).

Arrrgh! I just realized why I have not been seeing much activity on DisBoards for the 12/5/09 cruise! I was lurking on the other link ... for kids ... only 4-5 pages of messages, versus 29 pages on this one! DRATS!

No matter. We've been sailing on Disney (mostly the Magic), and recently returned from the Eastbound Panama Canal (August / September 2008), and the inaugural Eastern Caribbean / Tortola (April / May 2009). We had the *kids* on the Panama Canal cruise. That would be our 21 year old son, and his girl friend. We flew solo for the Tortola cruise, and will be solo for St. Croix as well.

Welcome Steve and Donna!
I think we chatted at cruisecritic.com for the complimentary thread of this cruise. Boy is that one ever dead!

Welcome aboard. It's going to be great!

We're staying in Animal Kingdom Villas before the cruise and at Bay Lake Towers after the cruise.

My DS8 and I just went to WDW for a quick trip for Star Wars weekends events last Friday-Monday. We really had a great time and can't wait for our cruise.

Welcome to all the new groups for our cruise!!!

We're leaving today for a 10 day 3,500+ mile road trip that will take us through at least 10 states and into Canada. Really looking forward to visiting some new places :goodvibes.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and week and I'll be checking back in after next weekend. :wave2:

Have a great trip Carmie!

If you're coming to the great white north here in Canada, namely Toronto, let me know where you're headed and I might be able to recommend something you might like.

While we live in the city that borders Toronto to the west, there are plenty of fun things to do and not to do (if you want to save your money).

We will be in Toronto next month for one day with our three teenagers. What is the one thing that we shouldn't miss?

If you haven't already done it before, the CN Tower (which happens to be right next door to the Rogers Centre where the Blue Jays play). So do the CN Tower and then catch a baseball game directly afterwards.

Also, the Eaton Centre is downtown for shopping.

Unless you plan on staying outside the Toronto Downtown Core.

This looks like fun; thanks for the idea. We have never been to Toronto before and my kids are excited, especially since they feel left out because we are not bringing them on the cruise.:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Question of the week:
We will be staying at Spring Hill Suites Orlando Airport the night before the cruise then staying at the Dolphin for 2 nights after. It will be a surprise for the girls, that is their Christmas present.

Haven't been on the boards for a long time. Worked full time for the last 2 months of school as a teacher's aide. Now we are getting ready for a road trip to Georgia on Sunday. I want to make a fish extender but not sure how or where to start. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks!
Welcome to our new crew members on this cruise. Hope everyone that had to cancel for medical reasons is doing well.
My girls will post soon on the kid boards before we leave.

Thanks Tower and while I would love to go to Toronto someday, it wasn't on our itinerary for this trip. We did go to Winnipeg and visited and toured the Royal Canadian Mint, Lower Fort Gary, and The Forks area. We only had several hours so that's all we fit in.

We hit 11 states, one province and drove over 4,200 miles on our 10 day trip. To top it all off, our little boy broke his arm/hand when he fell off some steps at DH's grandparents house. He's in a splint and we have an appointment with the pediatric orthopedist on Tuesday. Anyway, I'm so tired and off to unpack.

Just got off the phone w/ AAA, WE ARE BOOKED FOR OUR FIRST EVER DISNEY CRUISE:woohoo::dance3::love::cool1:

Not to many Cat9 rooms left so we are all the way at the bottom in 1042. Please tell me this won't be so bad!!!!

Hey! Welcome Hollie!!!

(Nice name, my DD is named Holly!)

No need to worry about that cabin location. While this will be our first ever Disney cruise as well (5th cruise overall and 2nd for the kids) this is a Disney Cruise after all. From my understanding, it's all First Class and I can't wait to have some nice quiet time with my bride and away from my cell phone and email!

Ok, Another Question of the Week is Due I'd say.

Ok, I'm really grasping at straws for one too but since I really am stressed out these days with work and all and really needing a break, I'll come up with this silly one:

On average, how many pieces of luggage will you bring with you onto the ship including carry-on & actual luggage per person?

I think for all of us we'll all have one carry-on and a personal item for mom and dad plus 2 packed bags. Summing it all up for the 5 of us would mean 9 bags including my laptop and DW's purse.

On top of that, my mom (DG) will bring one suitcase and one carry on bringing the total to 11 bags for the 6 of us.

Sorry, not much of a question, but hopefully stir up some activity and maybe someone else's, more creative, mind can take over next week.

Ooh, this one's hard for the kids and I! DH is easy, probably just 1 and a carry on (our camera bag) but not sure the kids and I. We'll be spending 4 days at WDW before and 6 days after. I'll probably have 2 for my clothes, 1 large one for each of the kids, and one "hodge podge" bag full of those "extras". The kids and I will probably also have a couple of carry ons. That makes a total of 9 I think! Anyway, that's what I'd like to keep it, not sure if I can. I might send a bag of mine with DH since he'll be leaving after us and that'll be one less I have to keep up with while having the kids on my own.
