Dec 5, 2009 -- now traveling to Tortola

Hi everyone and as Hawaiin Mickey said--Happy Mother's Day:goodvibes

Tower, sorry the discount was not really a discount. Thanks for keeping an eye on the price for all of us:thumbsup2 Hopefully a discount really will come along. We got back a lot once as well--it was so nice.

Okay, we have had food and desserts, so lets talk beverages! For this week's Question of the Week
What drink are you looking forward to having onboard? Are you a Konk Kooler lover? Coffe addict? Etc.

Me: Coke. I am easy to please. This year I am especially looking forward to having free refills from the foutain with tons of ICE:dance3:

Dave: He likes the martini and maragrita tastings. He says it is "not just the drink--it is the whole experience":rotfl2:

Marika: Shirley Temples. She wishes DCL served root beer:rolleyes1

Rio: Shirly Temples or chocolate milk

In case you want to give mom a special get in the mood for the cruise drink with dinner tonight here is the recipe for the Konk Kooler (good at home, but not as good without the Castway ambiance:rolleyes:)

1/2 ounce dark rum
3/4 ounce light rum
1 ounce passion fruit juice
1 ounce pina colada mix
1 ounce orange juice

Shake well in a cocktail shaker. Pour over cruched ice and garnish with a slice of frech fruit (I am partial to pineapple).

Hi everyone and happy mother's day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Question of the week answer- BEER

Me: Non-Alcoholic, D. Coke and a decent cup of coffee (The Disney Value Resort Coffee tasted more like brown crayons in hot water, hope it's better than that!) Also enjoy a cold beer on a hot day at sea

Christine: The odd cooler, but more of an iced tea and hot tea person.

Erik: Milk, chocolate milk, warm milk, milk in his cereal. (think ya get the picture he likes his milk?)

Holly: Shirley Temples sound fine to her, but any juice, milk and the odd ginger ale

Peter: Regardless of what he likes, he's getting milk!

NH, Martini and Margarita tastings? On our ship? When/Where????? Never tried yet, so it sound like fun.

heyall thought I would introduce myself. I am chris 51, and my DD kate(26) and her best friend felicia(23) are booked on the dec 5 cruise. Can't wait. this will be my second magic cruise but their first.
as far as the drink question, : my favorite drink is cherry coke and whenever I ordered one in the diningroom they filled the glass half full of cherries.
I do have a question for those of you who have cruised during this time of year, I know they will have the boat decorated for holidays, but are there any special holiday activities they do on cruises between thanksgiving and christmas? thanks and looking forward to hearing from fellow cruisers.

okay George--you're not answering for the ENTIRE family are you?:rotfl:

They are generally listed in the navigator. There is a fee but it is quite reasonable for what all you get (I think around $15). Tickets go fast--so grab it quickly when you see it:thumbsup2 Oh, Dave says to tell you the "margarita" tasting was actually tequila tasting--just so the slight misnomer does not take anyone by surprise.

Welcome Chris:goodvibes
it has been a few years since we cruised for the holidays. I do remember taht we did Gingerbread House deocrating last time. I think it was on the first sea day. We could keep our creation during the cruise but could not take it off the ship (viloates laws about taking unwrapped foor off). We were silly and carried it to dinner to use as a centerpiece:upsidedow

Favorite drink on the cruise?

Me- real orange juice. I normally drink mostly just water, but on the cruise I'll probably splurge and have some real OJ at breakfast.

DH- Mimosa, especially with brunch at Palo

OMG I forgot about the mimosa's. definitely a favorite for breakfast, along with eggs benedict!!!

Favorite Drinks.....

Me: Diet Coke
DH: Non-alchoholic Pina Colada - at Serentiy Bay!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day!

aloha,
favorite drink :
Ultimat Vodka martini with blue cheese olive, shaken
made up in Palo's.
On our Mexican Riveria cruise on DCL last year we were recommend a new vodka "Ultimat". Since we tried this new vodka it's been our favorite. Our group drank almost all the Ultimat on the ship. When Palo's ran out an they new we had res that night they had to call all the bars on ship to find more for us. We were called the Ultimat group.

aloha,
hawaiian mickey

Question of the Week
What drink are you looking forward to having onboard? Are you a Konk Kooler lover? Coffe addict? Etc.

Me: Probably Diet Coke for everything but breakfast. I'm addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper, I call it my "drug" but since it's not available onboard, I'll have to go for the Diet Coke. For breakfast, nice cold milk. I don't drink much alcohol, but may drink a pina colada or daquiri.

DH: Hopefully they'll have Coke Zero like they've got in a few of the resorts at WDW.

DD: Milk and chocolate milk and probably an occasional Sprite.

DS: Same as DD

I know, we're not very exciting are we :goodvibes

Hey Carmie, on the top of the mountain in St. Thomas, they have bus tours to the place where the first Banana Daquiri was created. (If you make it up there, say hello to the tower I climbed across the street from the place)

Yeah, I've heard about the banana daquiri. Sounds great! I think I'll have to give it a try since hubby will be driving :goodvibes

Drink??? I'm not familiar with the drinks onboard, so...

Me- Iced tea, water and most any tropical RUM concoction

DH- Diet coke, coffee, rum too

DD- Water, sweet iced tea and Diet Coke

Hi everybody. I just scanned through and found we like a wide varierty of drinks. I always have fun seeing people's answers.
Sorry I have been rather absent. I am consumed with dealing with the long distance eviction of our dead beat tenants. You would think they wouldn't want anymore trouble as one is out on bail as he recoves from injuries sustained while he tried to outrun a police officer on his motorcycle and eventually crashed going over 100 MPH. But I guess they don't care. SIGH. What idiots (I am being nice here--I have no tolerance for people who lead the police on high speed chases). I DID check lots of references on them and everything came back so good. Live and learn I guess.
Anyway, I won't be posting next week because we get to go to for some pixie dust therapy and visit Disneyland Paris (our first trip there). We are going to refuse to think about the renters fiasco and enjoy our 4 days of DIsney for all it is worth.
Have a great week all. Someone post a Question of the Week in my absence please;)

Wow, and I thought we had long distance tenants with ours (we were in New Orleans, Louisiana and we owned a house in Fort Worth, TX). Ours weren't the greatest tenants, always paying behind by 2-3 weeks, but they did pay. And in the end, they bought the house. In fact, we closed on it on one of our trips to WDW! We got notice they were ready to close while eating at the Crystal Palace. We printed all docs from our email at the GF and then OKW notarized the docs and overnighted them back for us for free!!! That's the beauty of DVC, they truly treat you like family! Anyway, I've never been so glad to get out from a house. It was nightmare, sitting empty for 5 months while we paid mortgage on it, then had tenants that wouldn't pay (their rent was even cheaper than our mortgage), then when we they did buy it, was less than we paid. But, we sold it, no hits on our credit and I hope to never have to rent out again!!!

Okay, sorry for my story! Anyway, hope you get them evicted soon. Maybe you'll get some of the same pixie dust we got and you'll get notice on your trip that they are gone! Have a blast at Disneyland Paris. I'm so jealous! Every time DH brings up Europe, he'll mention DL Paris cause he thinks it's the only way he'll get me over there. Not true, I'd love to go to Europe when we can afford to, but DL Paris would be a nice little treat!

Disneyland Paris! I as there just about a year ago. It's a beautiful time of year there and I loved the park. Everything is so convenient compared to WDW where things are so spread out. Have a great time! Be sure not to miss Crush's Coaster!
