Dec 31 - Jan 11 trip: What Dining Plan Rules Are in Effect?

Hi All,

We are going to be honeymooning in DW from Dec 31 to Jan 11. Now if I sign up for the dining plan, would 2007 rules be in effect for all of my trip (because I started my plan in 2007, in which case gratuity would _be_ included) or on Jan 1 would 2008 rules come into effect (in which case gratuity would _not_ be included)?

Anyone know?

We check in 12/29 until 01/05. I called Disney Dining and asked. She sounded surprised that I asked (as in... I think she had no idea). She paused and said "uhm... you'll get the 2007 plan for the whole trip." She didn't sound certain. So I clarified and said "So - my tips are included and I'll get apps at all meals?". She paused again and said "Sure."

Can't say I entirely trust her response which seemed uncertain at best.

I suggest you call yourself and ask...let me know what kind of response they give YOU. Maybe it'll be better than the response I got?:rolleyes1
 
Numerous posters have been told the 2007 rules (TIPs and appetizers) will apply for your entire trip. It's not clear if a restaurant stops participating in 2008 if you'll be able to use your dining plan in that restaurant in 2008. I doubt it.
 

I have been told that the 2007 rules will carry over? Seems like there might be confusion and trouble. I have a ressie for Edo for Jan3 and I was told it was on the plan when I made the ressie. Can they change that?
 
I emailed Disney and got an email response that I will get appetizers and tips for the entire trip. We arrive the 30th and leave on the 5th. I plan on taking that email around with me as backup.

I suggest you email them so you can have a hard copy, too.

I'm a tad worried I'll have some problems...
 
I'll be watching this. The one thing I've found in WDW is that each restraurant goes by it's own rules.

A couple of years ago when the kids dining age was 11 years old I booked my mid-July visit. We were taking our 10 year old grandson. We had made ALL of our ADRs months earlier. Then in June Disney announced that the age of kids were changing and that it was lowered to 9. YIKES, what about all of those buffets I had made to take the GS to. So I did all of my calling to dining, CRO, and was told over and over again, no problem. Since you made your ADRs before the change it would be honored........Not so fast pilgrim! Every place we went we would ask before being seated and EVERY place we went told us NO, he would have to pay adult price and they didn't care when we made our ADRs, so we walked away from Cape May, cancelled all of our buffets and ate at regular places. He still was able to order from the kids menus but at buffets we was considered an adult. This was the kid who ate a couple of nuggets and a slice of pizza, no way we were paying adult at buffets. Only HDDR he was able to keep his kids price package since it was paid in advance. So just because you guys are being told one thing, be prepared for alot of confusion and headache when you arrive at the restraurant. We will be in WDW late January our next trip. No more DDP for us because of the changes, will be using our DDE card in 2008. Please post back an update and I hope it goes better for your guys then it did for us when we got caught up between the changes in the rules.
 
Got email back from Disney saying that it will NOT be a problem-the 2007 rules will able in 2008 since we start in 2007. BUT I am still concerned, I plan to carry that email with me . I will let you know.

I just got an e-mail back from my concerige and she says that 2007 rules will be in effect. She's going to see if she can find something official looking to print up for me.

AND never mind; I was told that I could only get the dining plan for my stay at the Poly from Dec 31 to Jan 3 under 2007 rules, at that I'd have to buy a separate plan for Jan 3 to Jan 11 that would be under 2008 rules, so I don't think I want to do that.
 
Is the Jan3 to Jan11 stay a different reservation or a stay at a different resort.
If it is all one reservation starting in 2007 shouldn't the 2007 rules apply for the entire trip

It's different resorts. We're staying at the Honeymoon Suit at the Poly from the 31st to the 3rd, and then changing and staying at the All-star to save some money from the 3rd to the 11th.
 
a Disney customer service rep explained this issue to me tonight. She said that the 2008 dining plan will be different than the 2007 plan. Since I will check in during 2007, I will be on the 2007 PLAN. The calendar date is not the issue. It is what plan are you on. My plan is 2007 regardless of when I check out. It is the 2008 PLAN that has been changed, the actual calendar day is irrelavent. My room key will be coded for a paln not a date.

The same concept should apply to Teppan Edo, since it is on the 2007 Plan it should be covered in 2008 as long as the user is on a 2007 paln.


We'll see--I just hope the restaurants see it the same way.
 
My guess is the final list of restaurants will include all the restaurants that participated in 2007 but I'm not as confident 2007 guests will be allowed to use the 2007 plan, in 2008, to dine in a restaurant that no longer participates. The plan brochure is clear the list of participating restaurants is subject to change and I doubt a restaurant will be accepting any DDP guests after their contract expires.

We'll be there Dec 29-Jan. 5 and this concerns me also. Could someone please tell me what email address you used to ask Disney about this? I'd appreciate it, thanks! :goodvibes
 
I went to the disney site where you can make package reservations. There is a contact us link where you fill in info and ask a question. They got back in a couple of days. please let me know what you get as a response. I will be there 12/29 to 1/6.
