Dec.29th 2013 4 nights on the DREAM

Hi fellow cruisers....I need help in the form of an opinion.

It's getting down to the wire now and I was researching my flight info. Come to find out the baggage limit has changed to one bag underneath per person. I have never flown international without a 2 bag limit. Well this causes a problem for me...I don't have the space to carry all the things I was going to take for the FE group. It has upset me greatly as I know NYE is a special cruise and I was hoping to bring some nice gifts from Japan. I had purchased alot of stuff already....Now I have to decide what is best. I'm thinking it may be better to drop out of the FE group all together as because of the bag limits I can't pack the things I wanted to. My biggest fear is being called a cheapskate..(not to my face, but in someone's mind) if I can't match what others are giving out. Any opinions? I could still bring stuff, but it may not be as nice or much stuff as others.

I don't think most people ever spend much money on the FE items. I wouldn't worry about anyone thinking you were a cheapskate. It's not about that at all! I think it's more about the thought that a person puts into the gift. It is for me anyway.

Don't worry about the FE. Worry about your family first. If someone thinks of you as cheapskate then they shouldn't do FE because everyone does different things at their own limit. If you can't do FE then don't and don't worry about it. If you can bring something small then do it and have fun. Worry about your family first and have fun. Life is too short.

That is awesome that you were planning to bring cool gifts from Japan! I know you've been excited about the FE, so don't give it up! Bring whatever fits in those crazy- limited bag allowances that the airlines impose on us. I think a small FE from Japan is really nice and could care less about price or size of gifts. Now, you've got me thinking about what I should do for our FE.....

Well said!!
FE gifts are about fun and the thought ...I sure hope people don't judge them

Not sure who is in charge but we would like to be added to the FE list.

I have an idea!
Idea 1: contact DCL and see if you can ship the items to the port for the cruise
Idea 2: if you want to ship the items to me, we are driving so we could bring them to the cruise for you
Idea 3: one of my best friends lives in Orlando. I can have you ship them to her and I will get them when we get to Disney World for Christmas and we will bring to the ship for you
Let me know if 2 or 3 would help you. If so you can just send me a private message and we can work it out

Thanks for the offer of help. I would seriously consider option 2 or 3 if I knew the cutoff date for our group so I can organize and pack the stuff and make sure it has time to get there.

Exciting day here! I just paid the balance on my reservation! Planes and hotels for travel are already booked, looks like everything is prepared!

Last year I took my two daughters and my mother on the Alaskan cruise. While aboard I secretly put a reservation on for this cruise! My girlfriend and I will be taking my daughters and mother away for Christmas! My daughter's birthday is also the 26th and my mother's on NYE, so as you can imagine we have a lot to celebrate!

I've managed to keep the secret so far. 104 days to go till the truth comes out Christmas morning!

Congratulations - very exciting! I'm paying the balance on our cabins next week... Can't wait until I can start booking excursions (September 30, I think). What Castaway Club Level are you? Did you start booking them yet?

I've always wanted to surprise the kids with a cruise/vacation but am not very good at keeping secrets... ;) How old are your children? Christmas morning at your house is going to be so much fun! :yay:

My older daughter will have just turned 15. My younger one is 13. I think they'll be blown away! I've also managed to keep this *mostly* a secret from my mother. She knows we'll all be going on some kind of trip (she suddenly decided to do a cross Canada trip this month so I figured I better make sure she didn't make other plans!) but knows nothing of the type or destination.

This is our second cruise so we're just silver members of the Castaway Club. It'll be my girlfriend's first cruise!

A good point has been brought up!:wave2:
What is the FE cut off date going to be???
Should we say November 1st???:confused3
Steph
Tokyodisneydad...we will figure it out!!!;)
Steph

I think Nov 1st would be ok. Like I said because of the distance I am everyone will only be getting something small from Japan, but I am still hoping to try this. If we can get a number of how many we have to prepare for that would be great. I am REALLY hoping the number is between 15-20.

Lynn from Jamesport NY ordered a magnet from my Etsy store and she is on this cruise :wave2:
I am trying to make the magnet..but I have questions..:confused3
I have sent several Etsy messages and tried an email...but no answer...
I am hoping to find her here on our thread...;)
So Lynn from Jamesport NY if you are on here please PM me :thumbsup2

Hi All! I'm very excited to find this thread. We would like to be a part of the FE too. I'm trying to add us but it's not letting me for some reason (it keeps saying I am offline). I will try again later. On this cruise it will be me, Stacy (DM), and my twin sons Kyler (8) and Christopher (8). We are really looking forward to it. After the cruise we will be going to stay at AKL. Is there a meet-up planned too? :dance3:

Let the countdown begin!

Looking forward to meeting everyone. DW and I are brainstorming some FE ideas.

So, although it's a shorter cruise, who's booking Palo, Remy, spa treatments, etc.?

We will be staying on the ship in Nassau to explore as much as possible.
At least one meal in Palo. And possibly a cabana on CC.

What are you looking forward to?

Again, if anyone has children between the ages of 9 and 5, I would love to introduce my daughters to a pen pal.

Hi! We would've loved to do the pen pal thing, but this cruise will be a surprise for my kids (10 son and 6 daughter), unless your kids want to write back and forth about other things, until the 23rd of December;). Are you all going to parks at all before the cruise? We leave on the 26 th for two days at WDW (for their first time!!!) as part of this big surprise!

My husband and I are going to do massages as long as we can get appointments. We had them on the Wonder in
Alaska and the spa was so incredible!

Hi, Are we going to have a cut off date for FE or a cut off at a certain number of cabins? Just curious.

Can't wait to have fun with my boys.
