Dec.29th 2013 4 nights on the DREAM

Hi everyone! We'll be on this cruise. Sounds like NYE on the Dream will be fantastic! It will be me (Tracy), DH (Steve), and DD (Emmalyn), who will be 11 by then. We're definitely looking forward to an FE exchange, and drinks of the day!:cool1:

Welcome aboard!

OT, I booked a flight to WDW this morning for One More Disney Day. I'm going down Wednesday morning and flying home Friday morning. I'll be in MK until 6am, and there's a chance I might be able to go on the Grand One on Thursday night. If not, no big deal...I'll hit Epcot. Can't wait.

WOW! What a wonderful last few days it has been for me, getting ready for my upcoming NYC adventure - but I am back everyone.:goodvibes

Ok.......now about the FE list:

You can count me and my wife kiyomi in the FE exchange.

Wally and Kiyomi Conley room 5022

I do ask one favor if it's ok with everyone. If by some chance our FE exchange reaches more than 20 rooms can we divide it in half. Coming from Japan I want to set a budget and have limited space. Do you need any other info?:wizard:

Hi everyone. I am still debating the best way to get from WDW to the port the morning of the 29th.....anyone want to pick me and my group of 6 up?:rotfl2: Just kidding. The Disney bus seems safest to me, but then I can't stop and pick up bar supplies before getting onboard. Hmmmm....what to do....opinions? If I do take the bus would anyone be willing to pick me up a small bottle of Captain Morgan's rumpirate: and I would pay you for it when we meet on the ship. :rolleyes1 Speaking of meeting....I have never been on the DREAM doesanyone have a suggestion for a place, time and style to meet? I heard of one group that left a period of time open and that way people could come and go as they wanted. This sounded great to me.

Hello to all,
My daughter and I will be joining you on the 2013 Dream NYE Cruise. It was asked that we introduce ourselves, so here is a little bit about us. My daughter and I, like the rest of you from what I can gather :-) are disney nuts. We usually go to Disneyland for either the Candlelight Processional or NYE, but decided that for 2013, we wanted to do something a little different! This will be our 8th cruise (7th Disney Cruise), but I suspect the NYE experience onboard ship will be quite different than the others :)

We live in New Mexico. My daughter is in Albuquerque and I am in Los Lunas. We took our first cruise, on the Wonder, the month after I retired in 2008, and haven't been able to get enough of cruising since then.

We were on the Dream in January, 2011, for the Inaugural cruise, and have been cruising on other ships, mostly Disney, since then. We are looking forward to being on the Dream again. Before we are, though, we will have been on the Fantasy too, as we are booked to take a Western Caribbean cruise on the Fantasy in May 2013.

When we sailed on the Maiden Voyage of the Dream we were in Stateroom 6192. We will be on 6688 on the Fantasy, but we decided that for the NYE cruise we wanted to check out one of the CAT 8A staterooms. We have, what I think is probably the sister room to the room TokyoDisneyDad has, Stateroom 5522. We debated about whether we wanted the large room with no divider or the mini-suite with the divider. After waffling around and changing a couple of times, we finally settled on 5522, and I think that's where we will stay:) We didn't know about these rooms before but accidentally saw a picture of one as we were looking through the pics of different staterooms on the Disney Cruise site, and couldn't believe our eyes. So we investigated on the Disboards and discovered these rooms really are as huge as they look in the picture. The two large portholes sounded great too, so we're trying this room out this time. We may just fall in love with them and all the extra space, and never want to get another verandah room :)

We definitely want to be included in the FE, so I'm listing our info below.

Christy (Satarma) age 42 (at time of sailing)
Mary (peterpan47) age 66 (at time of sailing)
We are celebrating New Years Eve and all things Disney
Our Stateroom will be 5522

I guess that's it for now. We have a long time to talk and get to know each other a bit before we meet onboard the ship and our special NYE celebration!

Hi there. I found this on the DisBoards in response to a question about close places to buy liquor and thought it might be helpful to you. The hotel shuttles for the Buena Vista St. hotels pick people up at Downtown Disney and you can get to Downtown Disney on a Disney Hotel bus or on the river ferries if you are at a hotel on the river. I have been to the Goodings store mentioned in the response, and it is not really hard to get to. It's a grocery store.

"Some people go to Goodings at Crossroads. They make up for the higher cost by skipping the taxi. They take a hotel shuttle to a downtown Disney hotel, Doubletree Lake Buena Vista is the closest, and then walk the half mile or so accross Hwy 535 to the Goodings in the Crossroads shopping center. It saves cash but uses up time."

Also, on the two cruises I have been on where we participated in the FE we were on the Wonder, and everyone met on Embarkation Day at 3PM in the Promenade Lounge. I don't remember whether the Dream has a Promenade Lounge, but if it doesn't, it certainly will have something similar. It is great to start the cruise out by meeting the people we've been talking to for over a year. I have enjoyed it before and hope that we can arrange a meeting like this.

Thanks for the information...I will keep that in mind as we plan.

Hello everyone. I was listening to another podcast and they had what I thought was a good idea for the children attending the cruise. Pen Pals.

My daughters love receiving mail (no they do not have email yet!). Nothing is more exciting for them.

Would any parents with children similar in age to mine below, be interested in stetting them up as pen pals over the next 18 months? As you can see, I have two daughters that I think would love to experience this. If you only have one child of similar age, that's ok, maybe another cruiser can help with the other child.

Just an idea. Thanks.

Hi! I am Susan and my husband Tom and I will be joining you all for this Fantastic cruise!

We would like to participate in the FE! I've never run a FE group---usually a really well organized person keeps a spreadsheet with Dis names, first names, ages, cabin numbers and celebrations. I understand the need (especailly on the new ships) for splitting up the groups---we have given to over 120 cabins before! We will probably opt to give to everyone---what we give is small and usually edible;-)

Do we have a cruise logo yet? Tom and I have also made nametags for lanyards---we wouldn't mind doing this again

Also, would anyone be interested in participating in a Secret Mickey exchange? I could organize this:-) You don't have to participate in the FE to do the Secret Mickey---it involves answering some questions about likes/dislikes and leaving anon. less than $10.00-$15.00 gifty thingies for your assigned person and then leaving a reveal-your-name card or note on the last night.

Other group things on my previous Disnet cruises include:

pre-cruise Dis-meet and onboard Dis-meet

Champagne Girls champagne/wine tasting

special lanyards (usually given by a group in lieu of a FE)

special rubber bracelets with the cruise dates

linked dining

special room for Palo brunch

group photograph

shared CC cabandas

I know there is more but I can't think of anything else right now.

I look forward to meeting you all!

Sincerely,

Susan

Woohoo, I can join in here now too. We paid our deposit last week in 2x 7A staterooms. At this stage it is myself, husband, 2 daughters and brother-in-law coming.

This will be our first ever cruise so figured we'd do it Disney style. As we are coming from Australia we are then looking at 3 weeks in Orlando afterwards to see more of WDW and Universal too.

Welcome Aboard!!!

Still a very long until our cruise, but It's good to know it's out there somewhere! :thumbsup2

Hi! Will be joining you as long as my time off at this time of year gets approved. I can't apply for it until June.

Just came off the Wonder on the 2 week RT Hawaii cruise and I NEED to plan another trip! ;). I'm thinking about doing a 4 day on the Dream in June after a WDW trip. I'm planning on doing this Dec cruise and combining it with 3-4 days at WDW afterwards. I doubt I will join the FE but want to participate in any meet ups or activities that are planned. It's a short trip so I don't know how much we will be able to fit in. I'll be traveling with my son who will be 6. I'm going to change the cabin assignment so I don't have a cabin yet.

Do you think we get enhanced or special fireworks because it will be NYE?

Should he a fun trip! :)

Do you think we get enhanced or special fireworks because it will be NYE?

That's a good question. I was thinking NYE might be the "formal" night. I'm guessing there may be a countdown party on deck with a toast and fireworks (since confetti and/or balloon drop probably won't go well at sea!). :rockband:party:

I hope they keep the kids clubs open for this. My kid will be out and napping in there for sure as he can't stay up that late.

So, excited! Deposit paid!!!!! :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
