Dec. 2-5? Help, please!

We have been mulling over a quick trip in Dec. to see the holiday decorations and go to MVMCP. We would probably go Dec. 2-5, hoping to catch MVMCP on Dec. 3 if it is happening that night. Somebody posted on another thread that they thought Pop Warner was starting Dec. 3 this year. I looked on Pop Warner site but I can't find anything about dates for Dec. 2006.

Has anybody been to MVMCP with hordes of Pop Warner kids? Do the Pop Warner participants generally attend MVMCP or not? I also understand the X-Mas parade will likely be taping on Dec. 2, so I am REALLY starting to question my plan. We would fly in early on Saturday, probably go to Epcot Saturday evening, AK Sunday, MVMCP Sunday night, MGM or MK Monday, and whatever park has early entry (if there is one) Tuesday morning. Hopefully we can get a flight out late Tuesday afternoon.

Experiences? Advice? Anyone?

We were there Dec 1-5 this past year.

No Pop Warner kids in sight, but we stayed at the WL. None in the parks that I noticed.

I doubt that they would attend the MVMCP due to the cost involved, as well as the hours. They are there for their equivalent of the Super Bowl.

We avoided MK on the Saturday, except for Saturday night, as we wanted to see Spectro, and that was the only night - and that was a mistake - too crowded!

We did notice that the Christmas tree was near the Castle, and that their was a grandstand in Town Square, and less decorations on Main st - found out this was due to the parade taping - for line of sight reasons.

If we were to do it again, I would chose the following weekend. The tree was back in Town Square, the grandstand was down, more decorations went up.

Yes, Pop Warner is dec. 3-9. There is a MVMCP on Dec. 3, but I wouldn't worry about Pop Warner being there. I highly doubt they go to this being that it is an extra ticket. we are going to be there the same time, staying at Pop Century from Nov.29- dec.6. I was told Pop warner only uses this resort if there is overflow, so hopefully we won't encounter them.

there is also MVMCP on Dec. 5th if you needed to know. Have a great time!

I was told they are seen at the Value resorts but not in the parks at all. Hence, we decided to go Dec 3-7.

After the first 5 years of offering the MVMCP it has become so crowded that we do not choose to participate anymore. Think of spring break on steroids!! Not for me.

We actually could go Dec. 7-10, but I think earlier might be better for us.

Not sure which resort we would choose. We love Pop, but if there was some amazing AP rate we could upgrade. A lot also depends on airfare. I chose the Sat. - Tues. based on the weird restrictions American had on their last fare sale from Dallas to Orlando. If we can save nearly $100 per person on airfare by doing Dec. 2-5 then we'll definitely stick with that.

We did MNSSHP and it wasn't crowded AT ALL, so we might be spoiled. But we really do want to go to MVMCP. DH has been watching too much Travel Channel.

Yes there will be MVMCP on Sun Dec 3. And no there will not be crowds of Pop Warner kids. Not at $38 a head. They apparently have their party at MGM on Friday night after it closes an hour early.

I knew I had read threads in the past that Pop Warner itself was pretty costly, and the trip to Disney was a financial stretch for some families. And like someone else mentioned, they are there for a competition so they might not have a lot of down time.

It sounds like Dec. 2-5 will be OK after all with a little planning and/or a little flexibility. I'll leave my "commando" tendencies at home. I would LOVE to stay longer, but after that LOVELY letter from the truancy board after our October trip I am not brave enough to keep DS out more than 2 days!

And then there is that rumor about the MGM Halloween party hosted by my soulmate. Might have to figure out how to squeeze that in now, too!
