Dec. 2, 2007-4 night Wonder and MouseFest Cruise

The glass bottom boat tours generally get horrible reviews from people who have taken them- boats overloaded with people and the bottom is so scratched you really don't see a thing. I got that from one of the Passporter books for the Disney cruises.

I have read some of the same reviews. We booked it because our children are too young to do any of the other more exciting excursions. Frankly, they will just be excited to ride on the boat. We debated Atlantis, but they would probably be bored after a little while. That excursion costs too much for them to be bored. Do you happen to know of anything else that may be more appropriate for young children on Nassau?

Kimmy, my sister is also doing the dolphin excursion. She is supposed to meet a friend who lives in Nassau and go together. He is planning on going, but may have to cancel. She was wondering if you all could get together sometime before the excursion. It would be nice for her to know someone else for the excursion.

Jason
if your kids are older than 3 they are old enough for the Dolphin encounter, I think. You'd get some great pictures of them getting kissed by the dolphin or them hugging the dolphin. I think they'd love that more than the glass bottom boat.

Otherwise, I'd say staying on the ship and using the kids facilities would probably be the most fun for little ones. But I don't have kids, so what do I know?

Oh absolutely! I'd love to meet her. We will figure out a time to meet before hand.

Are all the Dolphin meets at the same time?? I think ours is at 9:30 or something along the 9:00 hour

Hi, Everyone!

I joined this board earlier this summer, but since then have been very busy getting my oldest daughter off to college for the first time, so I haven't had time to read boards. Now she is settled in, so I am starting to focus on our cruise and finally get excited again. We did the Mousefest Cruise in 04 and loved it, but had to postpone our second cruise from last year, so we have been waiting three long years to come back!! We are also coming without our darling daughters (15 and 18) so it will be a different experience for us this time!

Please forgive me if this has already been discussed in the posts, since I don't have time to go back and read all 35 pages, but are there any activities planned, other than those for Mousefest, for members of this group to meet each other or are we strictly on our own?

Also, is there any way, without violating the rules of the board, that we might be able to discuss the possbilities of sharing transportation from DisneyWorld to the port and back? We are planning to rent a small car, so we can get there early. I'm sure many of you are planning to do the same. It would be very environmentally friendly if several of us could share one larger car, or possibly even a van? If anyone is interested in this, please email or private message me. (I'm still learning the protocol and tricks of this board--that's why I don't have much of a profile yet!! )

We are Castaway Club members but still couldn't get Palo brunch either. We did have dinner at Palo on our previous cruise, which was awesome--well worth the small cost--the calamari makes any I have had since then a disappointment, and the Chocolate Souffle was "to die for!" But with the early December sunset, the windows might as well have been black walls--literally nothing but darkness, so we are hoping to get brunch to get a vista of the sea.

We are really hoping to meet some more fellow Disney fanatics, so when you get on board, look for us at the Mousefest Sailaway party--we'll be there sans kids and wearing our :santa: !

Welcome Joan!! Where about are you in STL?? I have family in West County.

Hi Joan. There will be no problem discussing transportation to the port. It is a good idea to share if you can.

There are going to be a lot of us running to wherever it is you go to see if we can get a Palo brunch.:rotfl:

Nothing official has been put together as far as a meet, I am hoping that we can make something like that happen though. There is a Secret Santa Event, and we have talked about trying to get a big enough group together to book Palo in a special room.

Welcome Joan. We are renting a car for 10 days. On our members cruise we actually rented a bus and had a great time. It was much cheaper than DCL buses. One person collected the money ahead of time and the bus picked us all up at BCV. Another bought doughnuts for everyone. It really was a great time and if we weren't renting a car for our entire trip I would love to do something together. Gotta go get the kids dinner before gym.

We are going to cancel the glass bottom boat excursion. DW is not interested in doing anything with more bad reviews than good. I don't have a Passporter, but was wondering if anyone has heard anything, good or bad, about the Nassau Harbor Tour?

That sounds Awesome! I didn't even think about anything like that, we are actually having issues over what we want to do. We purchased transfers, but we are coming in on Sat (Dec 1) and staying at CBR so that we can leave from there on Sunday. The only thing that I don't like about that is, getting there later. I really wanted to be one of those early birds. We thought about renting a car, but Melissa is 24, so the cost is quite high.

Great idea: a Disboards meet at the Palo line!!!!! I love it. Can we figure out a way to identify each other?

I checked the Passporter's guilde from last year and there isn't a Harbor tour listed, only a city tour. The city tour got a 6 rating compared to the 3 on a scale of 1-19 that the glass bottom boat got.

I wondered whether this is a newer excursion. I looked for reviews on every other site I could think of, with no luck. We booked it and if it turns out to get bad reviews we'll cancel it too. Thanks for looking.

I remember reading something about someone complaining about a harbor tour that was nothing but a sightseeing tour of homes for the rich and famous. But I can't find it now and have no idea if this is the same tour.

I have four friends joining us on this cruise but I don't think they are signed up on this site to post even though I linked them to this thread. One I worked with a few years ago and the other is her sister-in-law with her two kids, a 9 year old girl and 5 year old boy. They will LOVE this cruise.

So for the only real catch is that they'd like to be at the early seating for dinner with us but all that was left was late seating. If anyone wants to trade early seating for late seating, know 4 people who would be happy to switch!

I'm sorry about the dinner seating. John and I just switched from early to late a few weeks ago partly to allow cruisers with children to eat earlier. I hopesomeone else changes so they can eat with you. Can they be on a wait list for this?

Yes, they're on a waitlist. I'm hoping if that doesn't come through before the cruise that they can switch when we get to the ship.

I was on a waitlist for Thanksgiving last year. I just kept checking online before we left and I saw main was available so I called DCL and switched. I am not sure how the waitlist works because my reservations still show late when there were main available.
So keep checking.

Thanks, I'll have to check online to see where it says main or late dining. I didn't even know that info was there to know what was available.

The only way I could figure out to check to see if early dining is available is to go through the motions of booking a new cruise at the Disney site to see if main dining or late dining is an option. I did that, and it says main dining isn't available. Is there an easier way to check?

We are on the wait-list for early dinner too. We have never tried late seating but I think I would be starving since we usually eat around 5pm. My girls usually eat dinner at 3:30 before gym. I guess we will just have to have a snack every day. :cool1:
