Dec. 2, 2007-4 night Wonder and MouseFest Cruise

Well I did manage to get on the booking page this morning, but as suspected all the brunch ressies are gone.

I have provisionally booked dinner for the Monday night, but not sure which would be the best night really.

I will try for brunch when we board.
Monday is the night I booked Palo because you will repeat the same restaurant in your rotation on Monday and Tuesday night so you can miss one of those. I think pirate night is Tuesday.

That is what I thought, and as there was only the one slot left for Monday and all the slots open for Tuesday I presumed Monday was the popular night for a reason.

There was parasailing available too.

I hope Pirate night food is good though!!

Marilyn, I really did like the menu for pirate night, but then I like just about anything (NO RAW ONIONS!!!!!). Hmmmmm.... that may not have helped you, huh?

I'd get those elbows in shape and make your way to the on-board location for signing up / changing reservations as soon as you board and see what you can do there about differing times as well as possible brunch times. Keep the chin up!!

Michael

Well at least I was prepared to not be able to get the brunch and of course I did not. I did get parasailing though!! Also booked some other things, so I guess it was successful in the long run. I will be running on board to see if I can get brunch. Watch out for the the big girl in lime green....

Good luck to everyone trying to book tonight. If you try to sign in before your time it will tell you that something is wrong with your reservation. Don't panic. Just try to sign in again. That happened to me and I started to freak out. I guess I was just anxious to get to bed and signed in before midnight.
.

Thank you for this tip!! It saved me less stress!

Hi Everyone,

I will be coming on the Mousefest cruise. I am going with a friend of mine. I was just online under DCL and already all the Palo's brunch are gone. Castaway Club members can book 90 days ahead. If you don't have any luck just check as soon as you get on the ship and you might be able to get one.
This will be my 5th cruise with DCL.

Welcome to the thread, Yogibigdog!!

Hi!

I'm Amorette :)
I have a DH, CJ, and 2 kids, Giselle (6.5) and Zane (3.5). We live just outside of SLC, Utah.
This will be our very first Disney experience (ever lol). Decided a cruise would be a blast :goodvibes
I'm very clueless as to what I'm supposed to reserve, but I guess we'll have fun nonetheless :)

Hi Amorette, what a lovely name. Welcome to our little group full of lovely people.

This is our first cruise though we have been to Disney a few times. I think it is going to be fun. It is actually the Mousefest cruise if you didn't know. Take a look here.

www.mousefest.org

You can sign up - look for the cruise part down the left hand side and look at the activities. You don't have to do anything at all though.

As it is our first cruise I will leave others to share avout the cruise and what to reserve as i don't know either apart from Palo which is the posher restaurant you pay a small cover charge for. Sadly there are no brunch seatings left, but theere are dinner ones.

As a group we are doing a Secret Santa if you wanted to participate - see the post above yours.

Welcome Amorette and Yogi :wave2:

Wow, what a cross section we are getting in our group, a 5 time cruiser and a first timer to Disney.

Amorette you could not have pick a better time to come to WDW, IMHO it is just... well, Magical during the Christmas season. You are going to be spoiled and your children should just love it. They go all out with the decorations. Are you planning on visiting any of the parks while you're down there or just the cruise?

Greetings Amorette,

This will be our third cruise and the nice thing is you really don't have to sign up for anything if you don't want. There are so many free activities to do all day and into the night - the only stress you may have is trying to fit everything in. Your kids are at a great age and they will absolutely love it.
This is the first time we are sailing so late in the year, so I'm anxious to see what kind of weather we will have. Plus the days will be shorter.

I think I read somewhere that they are removing the Hercules production. Is that true and does anyone know what is replacing it?

Weather on this same cruise last year was fine other than it rained at Castaway Cay. It was a bit cool that day so not many people stayed on the beach, lots went back to the ship. Nassau and the at sea day were fine though.

I don't know anything about show changes although I think I read someplace about a revised show on the Wonder. Don't remember where though.

Have any of you got excursions booked?

We aren't going to book any, though I may persuade John do either do the parasailing or the watercraft thing. I'm to frightened of water to do either, so I think he doesn't want to do them on his own.

Nassau we might just do the walk that is with Mousefest as we were only going to walk around anyway.

We booked the glass bottom boat in Nassau. After that we'll probably just walk around a little. At Castaway Cay, we booked the personal watercraft ecotour (DW and myself) and parasailing for myself. None of the adults in our group felt that they could stomach it and the kid who would actually like to go with me is too small. We got everything we wanted and felt like we could do with our family.

Welcome to everyone who has recently subscribed to our thread!!

I booked the Dolphin encounter, the banana boat, and parasailing (Melissa only). Who knows if she will end up doing it by herself, but at least she has the option now. I told her she has to make a decision with in the next couple of weeks so I can xcel it. I also booked Palo for Wed night. Hoping to get it switched to brunch when we get on the boat.

The glass bottom boat tours generally get horrible reviews from people who have taken them- boats overloaded with people and the bottom is so scratched you really don't see a thing. I got that from one of the Passporter books for the Disney cruises.

I did the Dolphin encounter at Nassau last year and liked it. It isn't as good as the one you can do through Sea World at Discovery Cove but it is a lot cheaper, too. At Discovery Cove, you actually swim with the dolphin not just get to touch it. We aren't repeating it this year as we are going back to Discovery Cove in March.

I did the stingray adventure at Castaway Cay last year and liked it. Again, it wasn't as good as Discovery Cove's stingray pool but it is much cheaper. We aren't repeating it this year.

The parasailing was fun last year and we're signed up to do it again this year with the Mousefest group at 9 am. It's a great group if anyone is looking to go but doesn't want to go alone. Very supportive of first timers. Also, you don't necessarily get wet. Last year I told them I was scared to death of heights and please be good to me. They did a perfect take off and landing on the boat for me so I didn't get wet at all. You have a life preserver on in any case so if you do get in the water, you'll float.

We also did the couples massage in the cabana at Castaway Cay last year and we are repeating that one this year. The weather wasn't so good last year so the cabana sounded like it was going to blow away in the wind. I'm hoping for a better environment this year.

We didn't book anything except Palo. I still don't know what we are going to do. Last year we did the stingrays and that was just ok. We did the scuba one in the Cayman Islands years ago and that was just amazing. Stingrays all around you. I'm not sure what the girls want to do. We might book a day room at Atlantis to take advantage of everything there.

I have read some of the same reviews. We booked it because our children are too young to do any of the other more exciting excursions. Frankly, they will just be excited to ride on the boat. We debated Atlantis, but they would probably be bored after a little while. That excursion costs too much for them to be bored. Do you happen to know of anything else that may be more appropriate for young children on Nassau?

Kimmy, my sister is also doing the dolphin excursion. She is supposed to meet a friend who lives in Nassau and go together. He is planning on going, but may have to cancel. She was wondering if you all could get together sometime before the excursion. It would be nice for her to know someone else for the excursion.

I don't know anything about show changes although I think I read someplace about a revised show on the Wonder. Don't remember where though.

I've seen a link to a casting call website that had roles posted for a Toy Story production with corresponding roles in the other DCL shows.

Was also involved in a focus group last year which included a concept presentation on Toy Story - The Musical, or something like that. Our group thought it could be great. It would be fun to see it if it's onboard by December.
