Dec '10 TR:I Will Not Stop Stalking ADRs Until I Get To WDW!(MARCH TR LINK) 3/26

Ok so you got me worried about bed bugs. We are staying at AKL and BC in June. How do you check for bed bugs? Is this a big problem at WDW?

I looked up tips online and read about them on the Dis..in terms of searching for them.

We entered the room and took the sheets and mattress pad off the bed. In the corners of the mattress is where they hide the most so you have to look in the corners of the mattress but also in the folds of the mattress. When we looked in the folds of the mattress, we saw bugs. We did not see bugs but just looking at the corners..unless there are tons and tons of them & you'll see them. If you check all 4 corners and they are bug free, you should be good to go. I guess unless you totally strip the bed is how you would know for sure but we just check the corners and the mattress folds in the corners. We also did check the dresser drawers since they hide in there too. We didn't check them at POP = didn't use them. We checked and wiped out the drawers at WL.

If you google bed bug pics there will be pics of them up close. We were able to see them very clearly at POP.

hope that helps! I'm not sure if it's a huge issue at WDW but it seems to be growing through out the US. I guess Cincinnati is #1 for worse bed bugs (even beating NYC!) but we have not had them in our home. There are signs and billboards + TV commercials around the Cincinnati area for bed bug pest control..yuck yuck yuck!

I would stick with your current resort

That is a very pretty resort and if you need an afternoon break, the pools are nice there

If it was a longer trip, I probably splurge. But with a short trip, you will probably be in the parks more and not worth the extra money for short amount of time

Just my two cents :goodvibes

My vote is to stay put. It's a great small resort and first to load on the buses.

You've been through enough poo with booking.

That's all.

Loved the Candlelight Processional update, it looks so amazing! I hope to see it one day! And your Illuminations pics were beautiful! :cool1:

Haha, I love how we're both having resort dilemmas! :rotfl: Except yours is a little more urgent than mine, since I'm not going for another 8 months! It's tough, I guess since the trip is so short, I'd say just stay with POFQ...but when you can afford a deluxe, it's tough not to upgrade!

Thanks! I agree with you! If we were going to be there longer or even in our short time, if we were not going to the parks, I can see putting out the extra money when you are going to be there to enjoy the amenities besides sleeping, eating breakfast, and maybe an afternoon swim.

That seems to be what everyone else is saying! I'm loving the TR you girls are doing so far BTW!!! :)

You should see it! Hopefully it's not cold, it's horrible in the cold!

Stupid resort issues :( It seems mine has been solved for the time being. I'm tempted to just go head and pay it off now instead of the 31st so that I can't change my mind!

HEY EVERYONE!!

I've decided to keep our current ressie of FQ! :cool1:

I am going to call and see if I can add a room request + my birthday celebration because it wouldn't let me add the celebration online.

I've read reviews of others saying they were not able to add requests due to the room assigning being done on computers now and not a person so I'll see what happens. I'm not sure if I can request 1 or more buildings but by the look of the map + the work they've done, I'm going to ask for building 6 and if they don't give me that at check-in I'll ask for a refurbished room in any building that are done. It's spring break + we won't check in till 7pm or later so I'll be taking a chance but we still have several weeks until then so hopefully between my hopeful request + buildings being finished quickly, I'll have a shot at a new room!

I'm also able to call and buy Cirque tix over the phone with my AP discount so I'll do that for on my birthday but I have to wait until 30 days before the show!

That's it for now..see you all this weekend!

I think you made a good decision :thumbsup2

Thanks :) I'm excited that I can pre-order my Cirque tix, after I read that, chatted with a disney specialist, and she confirmed I could buy up to 5 more tix with my AP, it for sure sealed the deal! I did end up booking a later ADR for Ohana for 8:50pm. It was 15 mins later than the one we had but we'll be busing from DTD and I would like to allow at least an hour for travel time since I know Poly shares buses with CR I think.

I'm late, but I'm here. I need to go get all caught up!

:welcome:

I need to go get caught up on yours..I think you updated today!!

So I realized that you're such a loyal reader of my TR, that I needed to check out yours! I'm loving the story so far! When I start looking more into the college program I'm definitely gonna have to ask you about it! Because you seem to have enjoyed it! And it's so funny that you were at the Whoopi CLP. I know some kids who were singing in the choir that night actually. I used to go to school with them a longg time ago. But that's so funny!

I just found out that I'm going for Christmas this year so I will FINALLY get to see CLP and Osborne Lights and decorations. YAY :yay:

Loving your report! :thumbsup2

Thanks!! I love reading all kinds of TRs! My first trip with friends to WDW was in college for spring break my junior year! In Oct, I went with a few girls that I lived with when I worked down there for the college program/prof. internship and we had a blast! They were like all of you where they are 100% into character pics where as my family could careless about characters (unless it's a meal) and photo pass in general!

So sadly you won't be seeing any PP pics in my report and it was like pulling teeth to get the pics we got! Oh well..

DTD AND MVMCP!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

I hope you had a good week! My kids at school were CRAZY TODAY!! I think the weather is finally getting them + Christmas is actually over :( Usually ] it will snow, melt a few days later, and then snow again within a week and as long as it's 35 degrees outside, we can take the kids out for up to 20mins. We haven't been outside since the beginning of Dec (I know for some states that's like wow!) so we're praying every morning before we start the day for a snow-free playground so we can go outside!! We just got 2 more inches of snow today so maybe soon we will be able to go outside!!

Now for the UPDATE!

SUNDAY DEC 12, 2010

When I left off, we were sleeping very well in our WL beds and dreaming of MVMCP!

Sunday was another sleep in day for us. I was beginning to think we were never going to wake up early this trip = NOT what we normally do!

To recap: Friday..early wake-up but did not make rope drop, entered DHS at 11am :(
Sat..sleep-in, no rope drop, entered Epcot at 10am :(
Sun..sleep-in day, no rope drop, no park till 4pm

Considering that the park entries were not coming out of our pocket, it was fine to miss rope drop!

We finally rolled out of our beds at 9:30am on Sunday. The plan for the morning/afternoon was:
-Me, do laundry
-DTD to use our 20% off coupons before 12pm
-Mini golf for DAD
-Mouse Boats for DAD if we didn't do Mini Golf
-Bro was staying back to study
-Possibly going to the pool..

We made it to DTD and shopped before 12pm.

Dad dropped us off and went to wash Bro's car and fill the gas. The parking lot was already a zoo by 11am.

Mom and I got what we needed and made our way over to EOS. Bro wanted his CS meal from there so we walked over that way and saw a huge line and said forget it, he can eat at WL. Dad called to say traffic was even worse as it was nearing 1pm and said he could drive down to PH area and we could hitch a ride there. We declined, he headed back to WL, we headed for the buses. We decided we would get on either WL or CR, which ever came first. CR came first so we got on, and then a MONSTER OF A STORM began. We decided that the boats might not be running so we got off at PH stop and waited for a WL..and got soaked too :(

We waited 15 mins for a WL bus, got on and headed back to the lodge.

When we got back, I threw my clothes from the washer into the dryer. I really did love the laundry facilities at WL. I didn't feel like I had to sit there and babysit my things.. I mean really if you are paying $300+ a night and really want to steal my undies, go ahead! I went back up to the room and changed into sweats for lunch at Roaring Forks:

After lunch, mom and dad sat in rocking chairs and bro was in the business area doing homework. I walked around and took more pics!

When we got back to the room, WE HAD A NEW FRIEND!

By that point it was after 2pm, I put my laundry away, and we got ready to head out to MVMCP! The temp had also dropped. While we were at DTD it was in the mid 70s, now it was in the low 50s and dropping :scared1:

We bundled up and headed for the boat. Our plan was to do the resort loop, stopping at maybe poly and GF but when we got to CR, it was packed with people and so we decided to skip GF and we could see the gingerbread house another visit.

By the time we arrived it was before 4pm so we walked right in!

UP NEXT:

-SEEING THE FLAG RETREAT FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!
-"WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE HAVE SPECIAL SEATS FOR THE PARADE?!"

Is EOS ever not packed? I love the shot of the WL Christmas tree. That resort looks so beautiful at Christmas time!

Boo to getting soaked! I hate getting caught in the rain at Disney. I don't know, there's just something about it that bugs me. :lmao:

Isn't EoS always crazy? I don't think I've ever been in there without a huge crowd of people.

Can't wait to hear about MVMCP.

I know!! I tried to tell my mom that the line moves quickly but she didn't want to wait and at the time we were still assuming dad was picking us up and didn't want to make him wait in crazy Sunday crowds at DTD! We ended up not getting a ride back, got soaked, and still didn't get the food!

I disliked how the rain made it FREEZING! At least in the summer it rains and it's still hot! I'm for sure a summer FL type girl!

I'm joining in a little late. Your title drew me in. Making an ADR on the plane is something I would do. We'll be at POFQ a few weeks before you. We liked it in December and we didn't share buses to Magic Kingdom at all.

Enjoying your report so far!

Those giant snowmen at DTD are so cute! :thumbsup2

Ugh, the line at EoS is crazy! You seriously have to go at the crack of dawn now to not wait in a ridiculous line. I love that place, but I'm not waiting an hour to get a sandwich! (Ok I'm being dramatic, I know it wouldn't take an hour, but still, it's frustrating!)

I love all the little sitting areas at WL! :lovestruc

Yay for MVMCP!!! I love the parade and Holiday Wishes!

WL looks so beautiful with all the decorations! Now I am thinking WL for our next trip. We have never had a car while in the world, I didn't realize parking could be a madhouse at DTD.

Those snowmen at DTD are super cute

EOS lines are always huge. But they sure have some good sandwhiches...mmmm

Although this last trip, I talked Steve into trying Wolfgang Puck Express instead and OMG, out of this world :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear all about MVMCP:santa:

I've seen you post on other TR that I was reading too!! I'm off to read yours now!!!

My friends and I stayed at POFQ in Sept 2008 (for the closing weekend of PI) and we did use the bus to DTD and it didn't go to POR but our bus to Epcot did. It was also Sept and not busy at all so I'm sure that's why! I'm excited to go and hopefully get a new room!!

The line is always crazy at EOS. It actually wasn't bad the day that we were there. I've waited in longer lines with my roommates in the summer but oh well! Bro is living there now so he can go when he wants to assuming he ever gets called for job interviews to have $ to go there! :rotfl::rolleyes1

WL looks so beautiful with all the decorations! Now I am thinking WL for our next trip. We have never had a car while in the world, I didn't realize parking could be a madhouse at DTD.

It can on the weekends!! It's not usually bad down around Cirque area but WOD area is always packed. The CM at WOD said it was a crazy weekend between holiday shopping, the 20% off coupons they were giving at CS restaurants, and the CMs had 50% off holiday discounts too..but let me tell you as a CM, you would have NEVER seen me at WOD on a Sunday!!

They were super cute! I've eaten at Wolfgang in the TS area and wasn't blown away but it was just okay. I'd like to try the CS sometime. EOS doesn't blow me away either..it's like a fancy Subway but they do offer some pretty unique things!
