Dec 08 Waitlist thread

Hi guys! Still waiting for Dec 30-31 at BCV.

I did call on Friday and try to get a ressie for 12/23-12/28 (dh is not too happy about the cost of the GF since we are DVC members) I asked member services if they had anything for any resort. NOTHING....until we got to VWL. I got a one bedroom for all of my days. I must have just got lucky and called when someone else cancelled. I am very excited!! :cool1:

Good luck to all who are still waiting!

I sure hope the people on the waiting list for those days got there's first:confused3 or something is seriously flawed with the wait list process

12/25,26 & 1/4 goldilocks 63, studio or 1 BR
12/28-1/2 PrincessJasmine08, 1 BR or 2 BR

I did not mean to cause any problems. :) I was just very excited about this. We leave on Dec 28th so the waitlist for PrincessJasmine would not work. Hopefully goldilocks got her waitlist for the 25th and 26th before I got my room. I would never want to take a room from someone else who has been waiting.

I have been waiting for a long time for Dec 30 and 31 at my home resort so I know how it feels to wait!

No No No.. I am thrilled that you got a room. I just hope it doesn't conflict with those that have been waiting..

I have been on the wait list since May (not your dates) and am trying to stay positive :cutie:

Hopefully if I got my dates that means things are starting to open up. I think as soon as Sept gets here and kids are going back to school people will start thinking about their holiday plans. I am sure there are people out there with ressies who are not planning on going or are just not sure yet.

Pixie Dust your way!!pixiedust:

I was thinking the same thing too. :scratchin If there are others on the waitlist for those days, how did it bypass them?

because the waitlist doesn't fill as the rooms empty. It fills at the end of the day with whatever is left. That's a major flaw with it. Most people would have a better shot at a room if they called a few times each and every day. Which makes no sense at all if MS's goal is to reduce call volumes.

Really? I didn't realize that. :scratchin

Since none of my waitlists have come through and I really don't want to stay at AKV on the 4th and 5th of December, I am probably going to cancel my value 1BR today and book at the Hard Rock Hotel for 2 days...do the Universal thing for a day, which we've never done. Hope my cancellation opens up some pixie dust for someone here...

I just went on the Wait list for AKV 2 Bdrm. Standard or SV for Dec 14 -19 .

I needed a back up in case my days don't come thru for VWL :guilty:

I was just thinking.... How horrible it is of me to "Hope" someone cancels their trip :sad2:

Oh gosh! Is this true?? :scared1: Well then we will never get our waitlists! :sad2: That is not right!

No, not exactly. I saw an excellent explanation of the waitlist process here on the Dis a little while back. If I find it I will post the link. But this is what I remember. Someone can feel free to correct anything I say that is not correct.

When a cancellation occurs, it gets put into a waitlist bank of points. Then the computer searches for a match starting with the oldest waitlist request. If your waitlist is a match, the system holds it for you. A CM has to actually "activate" it. Once they do that, you will see it on the member site. Once the computer makes the match, you have your request, but it will not appear until a CM enters it. From what I remember reading, it doesn't matter how often you call. The reason why some people seem to "magically" get their waitlist request when they call is because it is already in the system, which the member services person then sees and then tells you that it came through. But the match will sit on the system until a CM activates it.

I hope that makes sense.

Hi,

I'm waitlisted for 12/26 - 1/2 at AKV:confused3 . Friends of ours are coming from England and staying there.

We're hoping and praying that we get switched:thumbsup2 . It would be easier I am currently booked at SSR.

That sounds better. I was wondering if I was going to need to call every day if the waitlists weren't done to the end of the day.

I called MS today to check on upcoming trip( good thing I did because the DDP that I added when I made the ressie was not on there any longer! :scared1: :confused3 ) and decided to ask them this question as I have been on waitlist since 11 month mark for BW view studio 12/28-12/30. The CM explained that once a person cancels a ressie, it does not become available in the system. It first goes towards any waitlists and only after it doesn't find a match does it to back into the pool. Since my waitlist is all 3 nights or nothing, I guess someone would need to cancel at least those 3 nights before my waitlist would come through.

On Friday 8/8, I canceled the night of 12/15 at VWL in a 2 bedroom. Hope someone here had a chance to grab it.
