Because we'll both be fully vaccinated, we felt comfortable flying for the first time since last February. We'll be hitting all three national parks in Arizona and road tripping around the state!
:thumbsup2

We just returned from WDW on Saturday. The airport (PHL) was very crowded and our SWA flights were completely full in both directions. :scared::rolleyes1 I am so glad we were both vaccinated; I would not have been comfortable otherwise. Disney has really tried to do the right thing with masks, social distancing & barriers along some queues, but let's face it, when everyone leaves at park closing, it's still a mob of people walking together. God knows how long this immunity lasts so I might just squeeze in another FL beach trip before summer crowds begin.

Yesterday was the official "fully immunized" day for my father. So now we can hug when we visit and we don't have to wear masks together. :woohoo::banana:

Two of my vaccinated coworkers have husbands with covid and neither of my coworkers have been infected so the vaccine must be working! :cloud9:

Have a great time in AZ!! It's one of our favorite vacation areas!

We should be able to pay back the truck repair bill (borrowing from savings) by mid to late May and get back to paying down the mortgage if we don't plan any more trips. I'd really like to be able to do some of both. It felt sooo good to be able to travel again. :goodvibes :cloud9: The good part is that SWA is offering a free Companion Pass for approx 1 year for signing up for one of their credit cards. We used the new card to pay for the truck repair and the CP officially hit dh's SW acct while we were in WDW. We were able to cancel my flight home (on points) and add me as his companion. It's amazing the things you can do while riding a Disney bus. ;)
Part of me feels like we should use this as often as we can while we're able. I'm always torn between having fun vs. doing the right thing.

Got a super fun surprise bill from the MFM doctor I completely wasn't expecting. $396. :scared: I was expecting my copay, not a bill that big! Kinda scared to have to go back in another month for our follow up appointment.

Work the last week has been long. DH will most likely have several hours of overtime by the time Friday hits. It stinks, because it cuts into a lot of family time, but it makes for some nice checks. Especially when hours get factored into maternity/paternity leave (they base your pay off your average hours worked over the last 26 weeks) and we're slowly creeping up on baby month. 17 weeks til due date, with full expectancy to need to be ready by 14 weeks from now based off his growth and the tendency for my kids to be born 2 weeks early.

DH had to fly once last year for work and really did not enjoy it at all. He said mask wearing on the plane was fine, but there was next to no social distancing in the airport.

Glad your family is getting vaccinated! My mom is getting J&J next week.

Booked our June trip to Jacksonville this morning. I wasn't paying attention and booked flights where you can't choose the seats. I am not the greatest flyer and I always have to use the restroom and I hate sitting by strangers LOL. I was going to upgrade but we are trying to stay budget friendly so I will suck it up. I looked and the flight isn't even 95% full so hopefully it doesn't fill up and dh and I can sit together.

My Pepe le Pew collection that I decided to sell in January, that had zero bids for weeks and weeks, is now making me a fair amount of money as I sell piece by piece. I'm rolling that money into house projects. First up: finishing a walkway...that I starting 15 years ago. Hey, I like to make sure I want to take it slow. :rotfl2: But honestly, I'm so jazzed to start this. I'm changing it up because the edging I used is no longer available (gee, I wonder why?!) and we bought new stuff last night. Even the DH is excited and he doesn't get excited about projects. :rolleyes1 I'm going to put down the edging and weed barrier tonight. I'll order the gravel next week when I get back from bringing the DD home from school this weekend. Pray for me friends...a 13 hour drive is in store on Saturday. :crazy2:

How funny. Pepe Le Pew is the latest victim of cancel culture, if you didn't hear. Those things are now supercollectibles. Raise your prices!

End of March update:
  • Save additional $1000 towards emergency fund outside of monthly transfers......This has been completed.
  • Increase retirement contributions for DH and myself.......This has been completed.
  • Pay $1000 extra towards Highlander loan.......Currently at $657/$1000
  • Figure out how to pay for roof replacement......While I don't think we'll be paying for this out of pocket, I've been thinking about looking into those loans that roll right into your property taxes. I'm unsure of the pros/cons with this.
  • Kick out our roommate.....He still has to the end of May...I'm really hoping it's sooner lol. I'm so absolutely over him.
  • Exercise 4-5 times a week for 30-45 minutes.....Still doing pretty good with this. I've been mainly doing the Team Body Project work outs. I signed up for their website which gives you access to some videos for free and others are paid. Yesterday I decided to pay for 1 month of access ($20) to see if I actually continue with it. At the end of the month i'll re-evaluate and possibly do their 3 month plan ($45) and go from there.
  • Finish the refinance on our house.....This is still in the works. I guess the rate wasn't quite at 3% when we started the paperwork and our mortgage guy is waiting until it goes back down before we continue. If this doesn't go back down to 3% i'm not honestly sure what our next move will be.
  • Purchase an electric fireplace insert and have it installed....We are still scheduled for tomorrow as far as I know for install. I haven't heard from the company about any delays. If I don't receive a call by this afternoon, I will probably call them to double check.
We have less than a month till Vegas and then in May we'll be heading to South Lake Tahoe for a weekend. Our stimulus check is still sitting in our account. Tomorrow activates the new 5% cash back categories for our Chase Freedom card and it includes home improvement stores/sites. So tomorrow i'll be making a very large online purchase for some of our house items. We may also head to Lowe's this weekend to pick up the same vanity we purchased for our bathroom so we can put it in our spare bathroom once the roommate leaves. I want to purchase it now because Lowe's doesn't have many of them left and I refuse to pay $79 for shipping. We've had some great weather here in Northern CA this last week or so which is really making me itch to be outside more and get more outside projects done lol.

Happy almost April everyone!

Need to have a root canal in a few weeks. Never had one before but can’t imagine my insurance will cover all of it. This tooth has been bothering me for awhile after I had a filling set and I had a consult in January and he said it wasn’t really time for a root canal yet but to see if the inflammation would go down, and it hasn’t. So, it will be worth whatever I need to pay to get it fixed.

Had one last year. It's like a really, really long filling procedure. My mouth was sore from having it open for so long.

I have had many root canals, unfortunately. My dental insurance which is just average, pays 80% of a root canal and 50% of a crown--up until the maximum for a year--which for me is $1500. So if I don't have any other thing happen in a year, no x-rays or anything, then it will cover it. But I usually do have some other thing, so some portion comes out of pocket.

Good luck! It is better to get it fixed instead of waiting longer--things only get worse in the dental/teeth arena. :-(

Thanks for posting this! I've been holding onto points and have some hotels booked for possible future trips but this is a great deal. Funny, it was there all along but I never actually read it. I just cashed out $460 as a statement credit. One of the hotels I have booked is in Miami for a pre-cruise stay in November. The CDC isn't letting ships sail until at least November so I'm tossing around the idea of cancelling the hotel, getting the points back to cash out, then rebook the hotel later IF cruise ships start sailing again. We put around $3000/month on our CSP card so points build up pretty quickly.

So I logged into my Chase account again, to look into cancelling the pre-cruise November hotel stay in Miami. Well, the price has dropped by over 3600 UR points so I rebooked it for the cheaper priced and just cashed out the rest of the points. Another $44 off my next statement. :thumbsup2
Sigh... I really am hopeful we can cruise in November. I miss cruising so much and I just can't bring myself to cancel the hotel completely.
A cruise on the Magic makes the parks feel like hard work.

Ugh, I have TMJ too. That won't be fun.
I have horrible teeth and have had way too many root canals. My number one advise is to go an endodontist. They specialize in root canals and what may take 2 hrs to do at your regular dentist can be done in half the time. The endodontist I go to has the procedure and routine down. I go, get laughing gas, listen to music on headphones and lay under a warm blanket. It tends to hurt a lot less the next day too.
Just a thought for consideration.

Thanks, I am going to an endodontist. That’s who I had the consult with in January. They said it’ll be an hour and a half or so. I guess my regular dentist will do the permanent crown though. It’s in the morning but I’m going to take the whole day off from work.

New month! Setting some mini-goals:
1) Pay $400 towards Disney trip.
2) Eat out 5 times or less (one will be daughter's birthday dinner).
3) Clear out more stuff and sell on fb marketplace or potential yard sale later this month.

Facebook marketplace is hopping these days.
3 years ago I snagged a double jogging stroller for $50 new in box from someone who got two. Today I sold it for $100! I also have a listing pending for a bunch of 3t clothes and shoes for $50. I've been listing things sporadically and so far, I'm adding a nice little chunk to our vacation fund. Here's hoping it continues and I can keep clearing things out and making some vacation cash.

Had our fireplace insert installed today and I love it! It took the guys a lot longer than I thought it would. They were pretty much here all day. The insert has 10 different colors i can circle through for the flames and rock. In total it cost us $2600 but it looks sooo much better than the empty hole it was.
