Debt Dumpers 2020

I’d wait until after COVID to get a better sale price. Maybe look at renting out points if you’re not going.

Did you go often before COVID? I‘m not a big enough planner to DVC.
Oh yes, we use the heck out of our DVC and we do a fair amount of rentals. I don't mind planning at all. My avg price for rentals is in the $21pp range.

Selling off our DVC will take some pre-planning and thought. One issue when you're trying to sell is that you can't close on a contract until after you have traveled. Welp, that's always a problem, because I always seem to have a reservation on my various contracts.

I'll have to ponder more. If I get more serious, I need a better plan to not use any of the contracts that we want to sell.

These are great on Disney cruises. I learned how to make them. It's way too much work. I like them at Whole Foods too.
It's a lot of work for sure. However, my friend and I have been doing “bake-a-long’’s” about once a week over video chat since we can’t go out too much because of the pandemic. It’s nice to be able to chat with a friend, try something new, and get delicious food out of it. Macarons are things we have tried a couple times now with different fillings and flavors.

I was curious "debt dumpers" how many of you are DVC owners? I've been an owner since 2006 and DH and I are thinking of selling off our contracts. I have mixed feelings about selling. One side of my brain says yes, I should do that, and the other side of my brain that loves my DVC says that I should just keep renting out 1/2 of the points I own to help pay my MFs and keep using our points.

We don't have a loan on any of our contracts, but the MFs are still a monthly debt that I'm responsible to pay.

Anyone want to chime in with their thoughts on the subject?
That's alot of dues ....I actually might sell 1 or 2..prices are high right now...people are buying resale and as far as renting your points out....there's a boat load of rentals available on the sites now...since people haven't been able to use their points in some instances...

Well I got my Halloween dishes from Pottery Barn yesterday and did not love them as much in person as I did online. The last couple years I have really tried to only keep the extra things that I really love. Since I'm not in love with these they are packaged up to return today. Disappointed I didn't like them as much but maybe that means I'm going to find something better.

This is how I felt about my first order from Asics. I thought I was getting a great deal (worthy of buying 2 pairs to keep one for later) but really, it was their lowest priced sneakers. Good thing they also offer free return shipping. I packed them up and quickly shipped them back. I got the refund before my credit card statement closed. They felt like standing on hard blocks of concrete. My current/old Asics really did not need any breaking in and felt great from day 1. I was searching for that feeling again and finally found them in a more expensive pair. Still, I think $59 is reasonable price and some people I know would consider that inexpensive.

I hike in Altria trail runners. They seem to always go on sale at the end of the year, so I buy two pairs to get me through the year. Look for sales. Sometimes they’re seasonal.

This is something that's required me to grow in self control. I used to buy things on a whim and now I have to consciously think - Do I LOVE it? Do I HAVE to have it?
When I started asking myself those questions, the answer was more often than not, no.
It's saved me a lot.

For us, it helps to have a small home. We have a relatively decent amount of storage but still not much space for excess. It helps to keep us in check with shopping. Even when someone offers us something, we're like, "Where are we going to put it? :scratchin No thanks."
:goodvibes

I did love them on line, unfortunately that feeling did not stay once they were in person. Since we moved into a condo a couple years ago I have really tried to only have things that I really love. I don't have a lot of space to store things that are just okay or not used all the time. If I had loved the dishes in person I would have happily kept them and made room.

I wish Disney would open their booking for next December. We are supposed to take a trip then and I would like to have it booked and be paying towards it

I believe you have to call or use a TA if you are trying to book a room only that’s more than 365 days away.

They are not doing reservations past September 2021 at this time

😭

As far as debt dumping goes, I'm in the process of settling with my biggest creditor at the moment. Once that's done it will be a big relief as it was in the courts. I've been stuffing extra money into my debt every month since June and will keep doing that until November. At that point my extra funds are going straight to my wedding account.

I finally sold some stuff I'd been meaning to post for awhile and made $45. 🎉 Debating if I want to try reposting the stuff or just schlep it off to goodwill.

I've been debating buying icicle halloween lights for the outside of my house, the $45 I made would help offset it, but it would still cost me a little more than I wanna spend. So I'm trying to figure out what I want to do.

will you regret it if you don't purchase it? If the answer is yes and you have the "extra" money to do so, I say buy them. I don't think it's foolish if it's something that will make you happy year after year. Ive spent a decent amount of money on Christmas decorations when I find something that I just have to have even though I know ill only be pulling it out once a year.

Whatever you decide I'm sure it'll be the right choice for you and that's all that matters.

There you go. Took me a while to find your own sage advice. We switched to LED Christmas lights and the savings paid for them in three years.

I dont think I would regret it at this point in time. I'd probably have to go with the LED lights because id be able to connect more of them together, and that cost will be close to $200. I may decide to buy them a strand at a time, that way I should have enough for next year without having to shell out all the money at once. Decisions decisions.

I’m giving everyone toilet paper for Christmas. I never knew how much people cared about it. And I need to get a new Christmas tree this year. I donated my last one when I moved last.
