Debt Dumpers - 2015

I love surprise money too. (Who does not? ) I opened our water bill yesterday and I have a $200 credit! I was making auto payments and this bill comes quarterly so I was really shocked. Guess I need to adjust that one in my autopay. Maybe I'll call them and ask for a check....could put it toward something else.

Well that's great too.

You guys have me hoping for a good surprise in the mail tomorrow.... If nothing comes, I expect one of you two to send me a check to cheer me up :rolleyes1

According to the Credit Tracker on Capital One, my utilization is at 11%. I'm going for it. I will track my score both in Cap One and Discover and let you know how it goes.

It will be interesting to see if what I read about having one card maxed out affects your score is actually true and if so how significantly it impacts your score. Good luck!

Well, I'll be the guinea pig and post my results. The 11% credit tracker still showed my Discover card at over $4000 which is now paid off so in reality it's even lower. We'll see.

I'm jealous of you all with this surprise money!! Murphy is still hanging around my house. The ice maker in my freezer has stopped working so I have to call the appliance guy tomorrow. Murphy is really getting on my nerves

Sorry Gracie! I plan to sit on my porch with my hand outstretched for my post woman today! Hopefully she has my bonus cashiers check (that's for you Patti :lmao:) for a million dollars....

He
Or you could by those ice cube trays to put in your freezer and save some money! :)
Lol. That's what I said when our ice maker died a few years ago. That lasted about 2 weeks. The kids kept leaving the trays empty and we started to sound like our parents.
Once we broke down and got it replaced, we listened for that sweet sound of ice dumping into the bin. It was so worth it.

So today I was grooming one of my cats & thought his mouth looked swollen. Took him to the vet $265 bill. He's much better now. My wallet not so much >:(

Just jumping in after 1116 posts! We are serious and are eager for the freedom of having no debt at all, not answering to anyone or anyTHING! We do not have CC debt but have a car loan and a mortgage on an investment property that we are currently renting with the rent paying the mortgage. We just started the Dave Ramsey plan and are on a budget.

What I'm struggling with and perhaps you can help me is: how not to spend? It just seems like things come up. Things that are even budgeted for but I would rather NOT have to buy them. I struggle with the urge to consume but disgusted with the thought of spending money. My kids need something or I need clothes for an event, or a summer activity, or lunch with a friend, or a birthday party, or my good shampoo or foundation runs out, etcetera. Again, it may be in the budget but it adds up quickly. How do you all say no?

Well folks, Discover just upped our credit limit, so now I'm considering switching our BOA card that has around a $3,700 balance over to "consolidate" just like I did with the Disney Chase card balance. That would leave us with just 2 cards with a balance, which even if the amount overall will be the same, it will save us over the 15 months that we have to pay it off because of the ZERO interest rate! The interest monthly on the BOA card has been around $40, and I'm only paying about $30 over the min. due at this point, which I could still pay that amount but just to Discover instead. Sound like a plan? Then we still have the behemoth card left, so that's why we would be left with 2. It just seems more doable to me than continuing to pay on the smallest balance one, especially if we can do 0% on 2 of them, which saves approximately $130 month in interest for the total of the 2. I will be calling Discover in the morning to do the switcheroo! Small steps, right??

We used Discover for 2 0% balance transfers. It sure makes the paydown faster! I say go for it!
