Debt Dumpers - 2013

Just paid off the balance of one our cc's...feels soooo good. We have a little setback. Our son is going to a new preschoool next year through our park disctrict. We are going to pay off the whole bill of $897 instead of doing monthly payments. That will set us back a few months to pay off two of the other cc's but at least we won't be adding a new monthly payment to something.

It's so nice to see the cc balances going down though :cool1:

I bought a calendar and have been putting down all the due dates for all our bills. It really helps me stay on track.... Just realized we can pay off two cc's when dh gets an extra paycheck in May. :cool1: Once two more are paid off then we'll transfer what we were paying on those to the last one!!! It will feel soooo good to be cc debt free!!! I have NEVER been cc debt free!!!

Keep up the great work everyone!!! :cool1::thumbsup2

I'm bummed because this week's pay will be low due to dh's check being only one week because of our trip.

But, at least we are doing good with the cash only and won't be adding to our debt, even if we don't have extra to shove on it this pay.

Congrats to everyone for sticking with it as best they can! Crossing my fingers we don't have any emergencies that throw us off!

You guys are all doing great!! It feels so good to get a bill paid off, regardless of the amount!

I cannot wait to (hopefully) get my tax refund Friday! I want to buy my tickets and pay off some more bills! Keep going everyone!

I am still waiting on my state tax refund. I received my federal and I always get my state first, so when I went on the state website they said it was never received. Guess that's what happen when you side track your accountant!!! So it was filed on the 15th of February. Of course it's only going towards debt, but I want to get it!! lol

We did good this month with $1218 going toward student loans. An extra $450 going toward a credit card this month. We also sent an extra $154 toward a smaller debt cc. However I dont think March is going to be as good. My 3 year old has been sick and we had an ER visit last night to rule out appendicitis. I am sure all those tests will not be cheap, but I will take care of those as they come in.

You are doing great!! I hope your little one feels better soon :flower3: I swear everytime I get ahead a medical issue comes up!

I have also never been out of cc debt since 18 I think. I did not learn great spending/savings habits from my parents, so I am really trying to educate myself now and be a good example to my girls. I would love to be completely debt free and live a much less stressed life! This month did not turn out very well for me, I believe I am $100 behind in my 24 month plan :sad1: I have a new job prospect but it won't start for 6 weeks. Good luck to everyone! Hopefully the luck of the Irish will smile on all of us in March!:thumbsup2

I am with you, I think maybe I have been out of cc debt for maybe a month since I was 18!! My father is a saver, so of course I decided to take after my mother who is a spender! But in the past year I got frugal like my father.... maybe it's something I am growing into. I mean, I won't be completely out of debt for probably another 20 years if you count my mortgage, but I am going to consider myself debt free with no cc debt:thumbsup2
Sorry to hear that you had a rough month, but in the future you may have some very good months that will make up for that $100! You are doing great, and a great job to set this example for your girls :thumbsup2 Keep your chin up, you will get out of debt. Trust me, if I can, anyone can!!!! (Maybe I should be the next DR :lmao:)

gracie1 you are always so encouraging, thank you! Don't worry my chin is up and I am looking forward to be debt free in 22 months (not the mortgage) I'm not going to let a little $100 hiccup get me down! My mom is a spender and my dad is good with $ but he does risky things with his $ that make me nervous. I will probably be one of those old women someday (a long time from now) that keeps their money in their mattress!!!!:lmao:

Still waiting on the federal return and both of our paychecks (friday for refund, tomorrow for paychecks) so I can pay off some more debt!

I did a lot of freezer cooking yesterday (4 roasted chickens, 2 manicottis, 2 taco soups, 2 chicken enchiladas) so I'm hoping that will cut down on the quick meals out and will in turn save $ which can be used to pay off debt.

Every little bit helps and I'm constantly looking for a way to save a penny!

I'm also trying to get 4 or more weeks ahead on my 52 savings plan because I want to use the money for Christmas... that doesn't do me any good unless I have it all to spend BEFORE Christmas. ;)

I appear to be on a roll this month! I just paid three small medical bills!!! That totals me at 4 paid medical bills this month and 3 credit cards paid off! I've got 1 more credit card which is now at a much more manageable balance and a huge stack of medical bills. I've got one more bill (that I know of) that is under $100 so that will get paid off next month. After that I will start paying off the higher balances but I'm unsure how to do it. I'm not paying on them at all so I can't snow ball those payments. I don't know if I should pay what I can each month on one bill or if I should pay smaller amounts on all of them. They are all in collections so I'm past the point of caring what they will do to my credit I just want them paid. After my last cc is paid off in May I will have a bit more that can go towards these bills.

I'm also planning a vacation while I'm in debt. If I applied the vacation funds to debt I'm sure I'd be free faster but I can't imagine not taking a vacation for 10 years. The memories with my son are worth it. Most of these medical bills are his. The stack is a reminder that life is short and throws lots of curveballs and to never take a moment or an opportunity for granted simply because it may not present itself again. I'm blessed that his medical issues are no longer life threatening and we celebrated that with a trip to WDW. I could've paid off a ton of these bills but being able to walk with my son down Main Street clear of the problems that weighed us down for 2 years was priceless. Ill never forget those memories or those feelings.

You are doing great!! Since you have some bills already in collection, maybe call them and see about setting up a payment plan? If that isn't possible, then I would pay the minimum on the higher ones and pay more on the smallest one. Then once the smallest one is paid off, take that amount and put to the next smallest one, and so on.

I think I am coming to your house and raid your freezer :lmao: It amazes me every time I go to the store how little I get and how much money it costs

LOL!!! When my best friends father passed away, we were going through his stuff and it was amazing where he had cash stashed! We opened his book and there was money between the pages!!

My luck is my house would get robbed and they would find my stash :lmao: Then I would be back in debt!

So frustrating -- I subscribed to this thread but I'm not getting updates :(

I was worried we were going to owe taxes this year - never have but every year we get a little less back. Of course, every year we mess around with our withholding. Found out today we will be getting a good amount back. I already created a spreadsheet & accounted for every dime. I *heart* spreadsheets. And tax refunds :)

Yay on getting a tax refund!! I love it when the refund is more than expected!

I made $160 on Ebay this month. I just transferred half to my savings and put the rest toward my CC. Since Jan 31 my CC balance has dropped from $1,773.87 to $890.76!

Way to go everyone! We are 1/6 of the way through our year of dumping debt! Imagine what it will feel like on December 31 when we look back at what we have accomplished, what we have saved, and the interest charges we didn't have to pay!!
