Debt Dumpers - 2013

How did everyone do this weekend? I have been working so much (From Friday night to Sunday night I worked right at 20 hours) no weekend for me! I sure wish I was paid overtime. This would be a nice check. lol But alas, I'm salary. So in me working late to 11pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, I bought pizza hut pizza, two nights. sigh. Total $26. :( I swore I wouldn't pay for eating out. But I was just so dag gone tired.

Everyone have a great stress free week. :) Hugs to everyone who needs one.:grouphug:

I traveled seven hours to visit my mom this weekend. Downside is I spent a little more on grass than I normally would, but upside is that when I'm at my moms I don't spend much else. And we had a great time, as we always do. It was so good to get some quality time with her.

Spent a bunch of money on Saturday: out to lunch with a friend, picked up a few things at Trader Joe's (which is not in my town but near where we ate). Totally worth it though, I needed the break.

Looked at the two credit card bills today, they are due next week. Luckily, one of my invoices for work done this summer arrived on Friday, so paid the balance on one (not much; Netflix and EZ Pass) and put three times the minimum toward the other. Tiny steps on that one, but at least I made the payment.

Three times the minimum is great, don't sell yourself short on that accomplishment!

Car debt currently at ~$7,225! Hoping to continue my plan and have it paid in full by the time I go to the princess half in February!

Hey,
that is one paid off and three times the minimum amount on the other! You should be proud of that :thumbsup2

Thanks. I just found out this afternoon that I got the job I have been interviewing for. It's full time and I will be making more than 3x what I did last year. We have all kinds of plans for that extra money (including trying to pay our house off early) already, lol. I will be commuting into the city three days a week and telecommuting the other two, so some expenses will increase, like gas, parking and I need some clothes. I am so excited!

We are almost done getting estimates for the roof. Ugh - they range from $5500 to over $10000!

Congrats on the new job!

I only have one more payment towards our SUV and we will be car debt free!:cool1: Now we just need my husband's SUV to last a while longer until we have a nice down payment established for a new one for him.

Thanks for the congrats. Now I am waiting for the official offer letter! Great about your car. We paid off our minivan last December, and hoped our old (second) car could make it just a little longer. Well, the starter failed in January and they found so many other things wrong that we ended up buying a new car. We went a whole 3 weeks without a car payment, lol. I hope your SUV lasts longer than that!

Have you looked into Angie's List? There's a membership fee, but you can usually find a coupon code online to reduce the price. Typically, the money you can save will cover the cost of the membership.

Most vendors/contractors offer reduced pricing for Angie's List customers (10%, $100, etc.). There are also the "Big Deals" which are a lot like Groupons, but for home improvement items. I've often seen roofing deals on my local Angie's List site.

One of my good friends got engaged last month and I have a feeling I'm going to be asked to be a bridesmaid. Better start saving!!! The wedding isn't until fall of next year so I have plenty of time.

I'm happy to say I didn't charge a dime to my credit card all last month and so far so good this month. I have a ways to go to pay the balance down but at least no more is being added!
