The Quest for Meds subtitled, who the heck in Orlando takes our insurance?????
Participants:
Me: DW, Mommy, 38, Disney Addicted since childhood.
DH DH, Daddy, 38, Disney Impaired, but tolerates our addiction
DS DS, 6, is becoming a little addict just like his mom.
We get up around 8 or so, and DH gets ready first, as he will be heading back to MCO on the shuttle to get our rental car. DS and I explore the hotel a bit, and then head back to the room, so I can call the pediatricians office. I explain our dilemma to the nurse, and she is SO understanding. She says as soon as we get a phone number for her, to call back, and she will get it called in. The hotel is very nice, and for the price we paid through Priceline, I am THRILLED with it. DH is back within 45 minutes, so we check out, and head across the street to grab some breakfast at the Dennys we see. Basic stuff, but yummy, since our last really substantial food was at 3pm the previous day.
We arrive at Fort Wilderness by 10:30 and check in. I had made the request for either loops 2500 or 2100 on both my reservation and by faxing in a request to the room controller (some WDW resorts are no longer accepting these faxes, so you should check before faxing. I was able to get this information, and the number of www.wdwig.com). We had a new CM checking us in with the help of a veteran, and he apologized in advance for his slowness. Heck, we were out of the -20 degree temperatures, and we were at DISNEY!!! Take as long as you like, partner! It turns out that there are cabins available right now, but not in our requested loops. We decide that since we have some errands to run (the quest for those meds, remember?) that we would not mind waiting. In hindsight, and this will become apparent, this was a very good decision.
We headed out to the car, to call the prescription insurance company, to find out where we could get our scrip filled. Turns out we could have used Walgreens, Publix, Albertsons, and many others. We were planning on hitting a Publix for groceries, so we figured we would head there, get the number and call the pediatrician. As we are heading for the Publix, we see a Walgreens. Well, we use Walgreens at home, so we will be in their system, so we decide to go there. The pharmacist could not have been ANY nicer. Gives me a card, tells me he has plenty in stock, and it will be 5 minutes after he gets the call, asks if DS is having any discomfort now and do we want him to be seen by a local doctor? Just really nice and attentive. Its the Walgreens on Vineland, just past the Orlando Premium Outlets, and the pharmacist was Augie. After calling the pediatrician, we call the Ft. Wilderness number, and find out that our cabin is ready!!!! So we decide to go to the Character Premiere Warehouse, and then go shopping for groceries, and then pick up the prescription. We get all of our errands done, and are heading to the cabin by 1:30.
We are assigned to Cabin 2502. For anyone contemplating staying in a cabin at FW, this is a great loop, and this cabin location was PERFECT. We were steps to the pool and laundry in one direction, and steps to the bus stop in the other direction. PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT location. We drop our stuff, load the groceries in the kitchen, and head out to the World. We have a PS at Chef Mickeys for dinner for 5pm. We decide to just jump right in, and take the internal bus to the marina, take the boat across Bay Lake, and to the Contemporary Resort. Just the way to get in the Disney Spirit. We took a monorail ride around the resort loop, and by then it was time to check in for our dinner. We enjoyed dinner (as always) and were heading over to the MK to get a quick ride on Buzz, and find a spot to catch Wishes. We got to ride Buzz 2x, and then just scoped out a place on the Tomorrowland Bridge to watch Wishes. It was fantastic, but we would be amazed later in the week when we found a really GOOD spot.
Since we had had such a late night the night before, we decided to head back, and go to bed early. When we got back to the cabin, it seems that Goofy and some of his friends had been there, and left a gift basket for DS. Too Cute. We had fun looking it over, and checking out the goodies, and then off to bed.
