Help!!

This morning I was re-reading the policies of Alamo in regards to cash payments or debit cards. I was thinking of paying cash...then saw they want a deposit. So I decided to call to check about the debit policy and got a gentleman named Joseph...who explained to me that using a debit card is like using cash and that yes I will need a $200 deposit as well as proof of employment, roundtrip air ticket, utility bill in my name etc. I was very confused and said that this is not what the policy states on my confirmation or on the website. He wanted me to pay on the phone and I told him I have to rethink this because I don't want to pay the $200 deposit...he then says..."it will be refunded to you as soon as you drop off the car" I tell him that is part of my vacation money...he says"it's only $200" I get off the phone

I wait a couple minutes and call the number on my reservation for Alamo at the airport...of course I get transferrred back to the main Alamo reservation system....Anyway...I speak to a very knowledgeable Vivian who says that all I need is the R/T ticket..and that no deposit is required and that information the man gave me was all for paying with cash.:headache:

Sorry for the long story....but my question is.....Has anyone else rented in Orlando Airport from Alamo with a debit card...and do they require a deposit? I'm just not looking for any extra expenses like that...I want to give my money to ::MickeyMo

I leave tomorrow...and now I'm starting to panic!

Hopefully Gail or anyone else will help relieve this stress!! Thank you in advance!

Yes we use the debit card for Alamo, no, they do not require a deposit. You will pay for the rental at the time of pickup and that is it. No other expense.

Go with what is printed on your confirmation, you will be fine.

I agree.

Our last trip I used National but my BIL used Alamo and we picked up our cars together. We had to wait for him for quite awhile because he forgot the print out of his R/T tickets. They were not going to give him a car without it. I'm not quite sure how he convinced them to give him a car...maybe they could confirm his R/T ticket eventually??

My point is, they will accept the debit card, not charge a deposit BUT do NOT forget your ticket info!

Thank you so much Gail! I keep checking to see if you replied...and you have made my day!!:Pinkbounc

I guess the first guy just DID NOT know what he was talking about...even though he kept assuring me that using the debit card was like using cash:rolleyes:

Ever so grateful to your service...from another Gail:smooth:

Gail B,
Always happy to help. Using a debit card is "like" using cash because it is zipped out of your account, as you know, but, in Alamo terms cash and debit cards are very different.

Good advice!!! Your BIL got one of those rare "detail" agents.
I have yet to show a RT ticket. LOL Never asked, I just put my flight details in the reservation and it is never questioned.

They probably called the airlines and asked. LOL.

I'm using Southwest and since it is ticketless travel...can I just use my confirmation that I printed to prove my R/T travel??

Thanks,

Gail B.

Yep! That is what my BIL forgot to bring with him and the counter person said he needed.

That will be just fine, it shows a return date.
