Debating now about photopass CD

we ended up not getting the photopass cd, and to be honest I am glad that I made the choice that i made. When I got home I had 91 total pictures taken. The thing about it was that I had all the same pictures that I took on my own camera. They barely took any pictures of my kids waiting, but I took a ton of them. I ended up catching things that I enjoy more than the photopass photographers took. I took over 800 pictures, but it amazed me how I was able to look at my camera and find that I took all 91 of the same pictures. None of the photopass photographers did a magic shot so it really wasn't worth it to me. But thank you everyone for your advice.

Love the CD but you really have to ask for the magic shots. They are priceless and fun for the kids to show their friends when they get home. My 5 year old granddaughter has all her friends convinced that Tinkerbelle s:grouphug:at in her hand. She says "I was tired and don't really remember it but she was right there." It was so worth it just for that shot but we wound up with 179 pictures. We were a group of 14 and had all of our cards put on to one CD.

what do you mean ,,ask for magic shots??

also how can you split a photopass cd with another fam. My friends and I are going next month. Would be nice to get shots all together and a fams.
Thanks

Just a word on magic shots - I would hate for someone to base their whole decision on whether to spend that kind of money for mostly subpar or duplicate shots on a CD on just magic shots. Here is my experience:

- some Photopass CMs get snarky when asked about magic shots

- some magic shots, like Tinkerbell are just too tiny (if kids are wearing very busy clothes, you won't even see Tink in the photo)

- some magic shots are very cheesy, and require just the right amount of set-up, and since most Photopass CMs are in a hurry and being rushed by the guests behind them, some of the magic shots look awkward

- magic shots take a few hours to proces onto your Photopass card, so if you are wanting to see them right away, you usually have to wait

- some CMs actually forget to place the magic shot in your photo, but I have heard of cases where they were able to insert the shot in, but not sure of how accurate this is?

HTH, Tiger :)

We are taking our 1st trip to Disney in June for 10 days.Mother daughter trip.I think I will give it a go because I want to be in the pics! Are there fees to do this in the beginning(besides the pin code to pre order)Do you decide when you are back home?

No, the photopass card is free to get and use. You either get one before you go (and register it) or get one when you see your first photopass person and get your first picture take. Then use that one through your trip.

We went back in November with 2 other families. Each family got our own photopass card so that when we were split up we could get photos put on our cards. When we got back home one of us created an account and all the card numbers were entered on that account. Therefore, the cost was split between the 3 of us :thumbsup2

can you still do this within one family? have more than one card in case you are not altogther? really not sure about whether to pull the trigger on this!

After talking it through with my husband, we decided to go ahead and order the CD. The pros outweigh the cons for us on this and the biggest pro is the stress-free aspect of it.

With my perfectionistic nature, we just think it will be easier/simpler/less stressful to make sure the character moments, etc are captured by someone else. This saves us the worry of whether the batteries have died on the cameras or god forbid something breaks after we get there. We promised the grandparents who graciously helped pay for the vacation that we'd have DVDs full of moments from the camcorder. So, we'll focus our attention on that and have someone else help us get the still photos we want to save. We're on vacation and the last thing we want to do is stress about whether we captured that one moment when my youngest meets Goofy...we'd rather participate in that moment with him.

And here we are...almost a week until we go. I'll report back :)

Was in Disney last year and ordered the CD. Went with my sister-n-law and her family so we split the cost of the CD. We brought the CD to Walgreens and developed our own pictures. We made copies for both of us and my mother-n-law and it comes out so much cheaper getting the CD. If we would have ordered all the pictures that we wanted we would have spent way more money. We are so glad that we purchased the CD. Will get the CD every year that we go to Disney.
