Debating a day at Universal

My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon in Oct, mostly for Epcot Food and Wine, and we're thinking about adding a day at universal orlando as well. He's never been, I haven't been since 1998. We're mostly interested in World of Harry Potter.

We would only have one day to allow for it though. So I almost want to wait for a trip when we have more time. But we don't plan on taking DD to Universal til she's a bit older. So if we don't go this year, it'll be at least a couple years until we get a chance.

would a day be enough? We'd to park to park tickets as well.

And any suggestions to get the most out of our visit?

stay onsite at one of the deluxe hotels in order to get the Express line access that is one of the perks you get for staying at a Deluxe. Staying onsite also gets you one hour early admission to Harry Potter.

Or, just purchase the add on Express ticket for the day you go

Have a look at www.universalorlando.com

See what's in both parks and the layout. From that you can decide what your priorities are.

You can't see it all in both parks in one day, highlights, but it would be a shame to rush through what are two amazing parks.

We also haven't been in a really long time and were debating doing what you are thinking of last year. I felt that for a 1day park to park ticket and having to rush and not seeing things we would like that 1 day wasn't enough time. We went this year the end of May and stayed at Cabana Bay for a long weekend. We didn't have the express pass but when we went we didn't need it. I'm glad that we made it a separate trip because we were able to see and do everything.

We're going for one day, but we've been there before for a multiple day stay so we know our way around and what we want to see, and what we can skip. I normally would tell people who are interested in Harry Potter to GO...the HP areas are amazing, fantastic, out of this world and truly something to see. However, a one day park to park trip is the most expensive ticket. So if money's not an option, go on over, you can explore the HP areas in one day, and maybe not much else depending on your speed and how much of a shopper you are. You would want Express Pass (making price even higher) so you can ride as much as you can, but maybe not if you only plan to see the HP stuff, since (someone will chime in here) the Express Pass isn't usable on most or maybe all HP things. The HP areas are really crowded, so staying on site and getting the early hour is another benefit that you won't get on a day trip from Disney.

I hate to talk anyone out of it because we love Universal, love HP, and sure you can have one great day there. And we are doing a one day ourselves! But it does make more sense to do it when you can stay on site and have more time.
