debate - Which dog would you rather be bitten by and why?

Are you implying that Poodles aren't real dogs?

Just because some people dress them up in ridiculous get ups doesn't mean that Poodles are not "tough dogs".

The origin of the Poodle is very close to that of the Labrador Retriever.

They were originated in Germany as hunting dogs/retrievers. The clip that you see in dog shows is not some froo froo fancy clip. It is actually done for the hunt. The dogs were retrieving in icy waters. They cut the dogs close to the skin so they wouldn't become waterlogged, yet left the pompoms on the joints to keep them warm to guard them from rhuematism. The tuft of hair with the ribbon on top was the way the hunters kept track of their dogs. Each hunter used a different color. Even to this day, the poodle is an excellent retriever and still has webbed feet. Poodles have also served as sled dogs on artic expeditions.

It wasn't until France got a hold of them and bred them down to the smaller lap dog sizes and realized their intelligence makes them good performers did they get their "rap" as a froo froo dog.

So make sure your facts are straight before you imply that they aren't "real dogs"

This message brought to you by: The Committee to Inform People That Poodles ARE Dogs and to Keep Mean Laureen Happy Because She is Cranky Darn It

And I'll take the Poodle bite please. Not in the mood to be mauled right now

May I add to the scenerio?
I would choose the poodle but only the old feeble poodle who has lost it's teeth.:teeth:

Growing up we had a standard poodle mix. A wonderful dog who loved to run and swim.

The only time he ever nipped anyone was once when my sister tried to take his food while he was eating. He didn't even break her skin.

I miss him and would take his bite anyday.:flower2:

Well you might not be able to say anything. You might not be alive after the pitbull bite. :p

I doubt you'd be saying much after the pit bull bit you, but thanks for proving our point.

Poodle. To prove that they can and do attack as much as PBs.

Prove it. But you also have to prove that they KILL as often as a pit bull, good luck.

Since she compared the people that think pit bulls are dangerous dogs to racists, I didn't expect a logical or well thought out reply from her on this thread either.

So true, I'm reminded of the nitwits at PETA, the animal comes first, no matter what.

I had a poodle for 13 years. He was very frou frou. But he was also a real dog.

I'd rather be bitten by a poodle and live to tell the tale.

I keep thinking of the cute little toy poodle that a friend has but of course the standard poodle is a big dog. However, I would still rather deal with an enraged standard poodle than a pit bull. It's like comparing a housecat to a bobcat IMO.

I'd argue her ridiculous statement, but she's a drive by poster so it's really pointless.

I'm curious Esmerelda, do you love all types of dogs or just pit bulls? The reason I ask is you seem to want to prove that any other kind of dog attacks more than pit bulls. Why do you feel such a need to prove something that is so obviously untrue.

Personally I do not care for dogs we have had numerous dogs while growing up. My mother had 3 different miniature poodles yappiest things onthe planet well the ones we had anyhow. We had a sheppard Lab cross great obediant dog got killed by a car after getting out of the yard. Then Moose the Rottie Sheppard cross biggest suck on the planet as dogs go and he was a very big dog. 125 pounds of licking slobbering dog he was. Never did he bark or bite or anything but now he is gone we will not own another dog or cat give me my salt water aquarium anyday. We have ids to chase after and clean up after and cook for etc so to have to do all that for a dog to forget it at this point in time the kids would love another rotweiler or boxer etc but with 2 of them under 3 it is crazy enough around here without a dog. We told them when they grow up and move out they can get a dog.

What's your point?

The point is that I do not care for dogs nothing against them or their owners just could care less if we ever have another one. Like visiting with our in laws who have a boxer but it is great to be able to leave it there. And yes poodles do attack my moms roudly little poodle attacked a kid on our street took his ear off and we had it killed after that. Sorry put down.

So, is the point of this post to ridicule and bait a certain poster that does not agree with the majority? That is wrong IMO.

To answer the OP, I wouldn't want to be bitten by any kind of dog.

Wow! Another killer poodle story! No, wait...the kid didn't die, right? Once more....had that kid been attacked by a pit bull, he wouldn't have had to worry about losing an ear. He would have been DEAD.

we had it killed after that

Gee, you almost sound happy about killing a dog. Ok, so you hate dogs but you think pit bulls are great? Did I get that right?

I wouldn't want to be bitten by any kind of dog.

That wasn't one of your choices......
