Why oh why go I keep going back!!!??? It is like an addiction which I am now trying to overcome. I take the issues too personally especially if they are about overweight people or about people trying to do WDW on a budget. Of course both issues apply to me and I end up getting involved in the debate and it ruins my day. Please help me stay away from that Board!

here's a great way:

don't click on the forum title ;)

Lol, the community board stresses me out! We have just as many arguments over here. I like the debate board give in take.:D

Yep RR, looks like the DB is moving over here and I don't like it, and this is from someone who frquents the DB. :o :teeth:

I have read the Dis Boards for a long time, since 1999. At first just to get tips on family trips and I found them helpful. About a year ago I wondered off to the CB, the DB and the Rumors Board. I have only recently started posting much. What I have seen is that the DB is sort of the area to vent, and boy do they vent. It is not a place for the faint of heart. I read the rumors board but almost never post there because a lot of the threads depress me. I enjoy all things Disney so much I don't like to hear all the negatives. The CB is a fun place although since I don't post as much here, I don't get caught up in the threads as much. I find it interesting at times that posters make comments about the other boards but in the end it seems people just seem to migrate to the place that fits them the best. I am opionated and debated through High School and College so I tend to go to the DB first. I feel comfortable there. But I also feel comfortable here and will continue to read and post here occasionally. I think that at the end of the day each person needs to take the best from the DIS and go to the places that make them happy. Don't take things to seriously. This like any other message board is a wide open forum and that means anyone with an internet connection can take shots at you so you have to think about what you say.
After having spent a lot of time on investing and stock posting boards that were not as closely monitored as the DIS I can tell you that I have yet to see anything here that comes close to the attacks, threats and verbal abuse that happens there. Maybe I enjoy it here more now because as I age I am mellowing and can't take those things anymore.

The secret to the DB is not to take things personally (and I am mostly successful) at that. I love the DB. If nothing else people on the DB let you know exactly where you stand.

I like being in a place where at least I know where the knife will be coming from.

I know the debate board has it's purpose and it is enjoyed by many. But I am a very sensitive (way TOO sensitive) person who just can't handle it. But for some reason I haven't been able to keep myself from reading and ocassionally posting on it. But so far I have stayed away for nearly an hour. :D I think being pregnant has made me even more emotional than I normally am!

After reading a lot and not posting there for a while I learned pretty quick which topics to avoid. If your like my wife when she was pregnant you probably need to control the urge and stay away for a while.

Kim, don't forget to duck out of the way of those flying knives :teeth:

Dbers are a little different in that we are not afraid to get in and exchange views and get to the meat of an issue. It is okay to have a different viewpoint or prespective from other people and to point out where you think someone might be in error.

Generally, I have liked the DB because people over there know how to have an intelligent discussion without being over-sensitive and irrational. I haven't been back since one thread made me absolutely way too upset. To me, it is ruined by a few people who don't have the skills or knowledge to contribute to a decent debate. There are also very few topics over there that I know anything about (I'm a political & economical idiot), so I don't participate all that often. But, they are still interesting to read (if you can learn who has absolutely no idea what they're talking about).

Life is too short to not have fun on the DIS ! Make it a rule to only participate where and when it is fun for you !

I tried to avoid conflict, as a matter of fact and principle. I certainly avoid the DB based on the aforementioned. Last time I posted there was in defense of a friend who was being 'eaten alive' over there.

brerrabbit, very well said, and nice to see you.

Wouldn't that be great! I'm all for it.

Can't we join more than one board? I like to visit the debate board, but do not post very often. I don't post very often here either, even tho i read boards daily and have for over two years.

(had to change my name due to not being able to sign in one day) (used to be Pegg)

You can essentially ignore forums by subscribing to those you want to and only going to your 'User CP' as a menu area. You will see only those you subscribed to.

Pegg, you can join all the boards you want to on the DIS, only the CM Board, Host Board and Sponsor Board have additional requirements for access. And you don't want to go to the Recycle Bin. :)

I don't post very often on the debate board, I don't understand most of what is being debated. :D Just not really "into" politics and stuff all that much I guess. Some of the debates are interesting, but it's kind of too bad when they start turning nasty. :(

I love the DB board, I don't post very often because my viewpoint doesn't really matter because I'm not gonna change anyone elses opinon but I love to read the debates. My fav thing is that they will all jump all over you over there but they say "there are no personal attacks on the DB" which is hilarious. Because everything they say can be taken personal by some people and a lot of them have these smart a** answers that crack me up. Some people it would offend but others (like me) could care less.
