What is your favorite attraction that Disney has closed?

For me, it is Dreamflight, which used to be in Tomorrowland at the MK. I only rode it once, at 5 years old, but I still remember a lot of the details...the CM's were dressed like pilots and flight attendants, and the seats looked like airplane seats. Then there was a part that made you feel like you were really flying, and travelling very fast. At least to a five year old. :teeth:

Anyone remember where this attraction was located in Tomorrowland? Oh, and which old attraction do you miss the most?

That section is still used in Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

It is the area that is shaped like the inside of a "hollowed-out cucumber" in which Zurk's ship is projected on the "walls" surrounded by stars.
In "Dreamflight" and "If You Had Wings" they projected film shot from moving vehicles and (as you approached the far end of this area, the film images would appear to speed up as the images became more distorted.
(Also had "wind" effects blown in to add realism.)

Also, the area in Buzz with the "smoke" effect with the spinning "blades of shadow" was origianlly built and used for "Dreamflight" and "If You Had Wings".
It was to simulate moving toward a spinning "JET ENGINE" at that time.

Buzz is in the same attraction space as these former "airline" attactions and the Imagineers used as much from the previous rides as they could find useful.

Ah! Makes sense! Thanks Robo.

I miss World of Motion, Kitchen Kaberat, and Walter Cronkite's narration in Spaceship Earth.

I'll vote for the apparently now permanently gone Cranium Command. This was a very funny show with well-performed film parts and lots of major stars (and educational too). The best part, though, was General Knowledge in the "enter the theater announcement" yelling, "Get moving! Where do you think you are, Disney World?" Hilarious. :rotfl2:

I'll miss it.

Tim, who also misses Mr. Toad :sad2: , but likes the new Pooh ride too.

Hands down Delta Dreamflight. I was obsessed with that ride when I was younger, went on it 10+ times in one trip and the next trip down there...It was gone. :sad2:

Ah, the imortal strains of:

"Veggie, FRUIT - FRUIT. Veggie - Veggie, FRUIT - FRUIT."

(NOW just TRY to get it out of your BRAIN!)

Muuaaawwwwaa- ha -HAAAAAaaaaaa!

Mr Toad's Wild Ride

My sibs and I loved this ride as kids. Heck, our parents loved it too. This November will be the first time back since I was a child. It will be so sad not to ride it. Even the smell of the ride tickles a remembrance in my brain.

that's it!! I loved that show!

I miss World of Motion, Horizons, Imagination( the one and only!) and Walter Cronkite's voice.

LOL when we were tired of walking we would ride the Skyway!

The real Journey to Imagination

The "Listen to the Land" song that used to go along with the ride

Kitchen Kabaret (we do have an old record, so at least I can hear it and remember what it used to be like)

Interesting that these are all from Epcot.

You can also get DVD's of some of these extinct rides. I have "If you had wings", also on the same DVD is Delta's Dreamflight and Take Flight. Quality is not perfect but it brings back the memories. I also have a lot of the now extinct shows from Epcot... Horizons, WOM, Spaceship Earth with Walter Cronkite. Nothing is as good as the real thing but it's better than nothing. And "If you had wings" is my favorite extinct attraction. For more information on these DVD's PM me.
