Dear pickup truck driver....

Why in the world do you think that that empty paper cup in the bed of your truck is going to win the battle with the wind when you are traveling down the highway at 70 mph? What you are effectively doing is littering which is WRONG! Please don't do that anymore.

I know this doesn't apply to all pickup truck drivers, but I'm really tired of seeing this happen.

For that very reason I put very little in the bed of my truck, unless it's too big to fit up with me. A paper cup I think would fit in the cab....

I also saw a pickup truck driver on the highway yesterday that really upset me. They had their dog in the bed in the open and it was 35 degrees out and we were traveling at 65mph. That poor pooch must have been freezing. I felt so bad for it.

As a country girl, environmentalist, farm truck driver I can answer this question. Most of the time that coffee cup was thrown in the back by someone else. Even when I drove a state or federal truck, people seemed to think that it was their own personal garbage can. It has always driven me nuts when this happens.

This scares me to death. I hate when I'm driving behind a pick up with a dog in the back. I'm always so worried something's going to happen to it, and that's something I *don't* want to witness. :(

::yes:: I was just going to say the same thing! Well except for being a country girl..... :rotfl: We have a pickup and find all kinds of interesting things!

I've never experienced any litter flying out of the back of a pick up truck, and dogs in the back of trucks are illegal unless there is a cap on the truck.

I have a truck (with a cap) and can tell you the only time there's been loose things in there, like trash, is because random people walk by my truck parked in a parking lot and toss their trash in it.

The bed of my truck is the world's garbage can too. A great big one.

You can add our family as another trashcan...I mean truck driving family who DOES NOT put anything loose in the back of our bed, but it never fails for there to be something tossed in there while parked in the mall, grocery, and even DH work place parking lot.

Burns my behind every time we have to clean up some lazy butts mess. And that was very nicely stated, not would I would really like to call them.

You never know the driver might not even know it was there. I have seen situations before when someone would finish with a can of soda or a bottle of water and throw it into the back of some random pick up truck as they are walking into a store.
