Please, please teach your fur babies proper camping behavior and practice the same yourself.
We are currently in the 800 loop. Although we frequently bring along our two pups, we sometimes leave them when we know we will be unable to meet their needs due to long days or late times in the parks. In all of our many trips to the Fort, we can honestly say this is the first time we are upset with the lack of respect from our neighboring pet owners. We have heard incessant non-stop yapping from one little guy, accompanied by loud barking from another nearby site. Yes, dogs bark, but we have heard no attempt whatsoever to correct or address the issue.
The icing on the cake was stepping in a huge pile of #### right next to our golf cart this morning. It wasn't there yesterday. C'mon people! You're giving the rest of the responsible pet owners a bad name.
We love seeing the dogs and choose to stay in the pet loops. Bring them along, they're family, but be courteous to others.
Thanks!

The sad part is that the people who need to read this message probably won't.

The whole concept can be extended beyond pets to just common (and descent) courtesy which is disappearing quite rapidly in our society today. Fortunately not all of us have lost it (at least most of the time) and hopefully we can work on our children to bring them up properly to respect others. I do try and do my part as I hope others do too.

P.S. I am also a pet owner and I agree with what you said about caring for your pet and being responsible.

This is why I'm going to start taking my cat with us when we go camping. He's 20# of loving, purring, gentleness towards people. He uses the litterbox. He doesn't bark. He does, however, despise dogs and typically attacks unknown dogs on site. So if you do hear him, it probably will actually be the dog he's sampling that you will hear screaming.

...but only very briefly...

...bless him.

Now, I know where you're coming from and understand why. Most people do take care to keep their dogs from bothering neighbors, but there are those people who could care less about how their pets bother others. They are also usually the same people who hope somebody says something about their loud dog, or their unruly child so that they can have an opportunity to look "big and bad" (mostly stupid). They live with the thinking that since they paid the same as you they can do as they please.

Disney does more to ruin people's vacations by sometimes allowing these things to happen because they don't act on complaints. Well known fact that they want people to have the best vacation ever by NOT telling them they can't do something.

Unfortunately, threads about pets seem to usually spiral out of control, or at least they used to. So, we understand, we feel your frustration, and all you can do is file a complaint and hope they pull out in the morning.

We just came back from the Fort, staying in the 2100 cabin loop. Dogs across the canal..a little yippy one and a quitter larger dog. Also saw dogs at other loops. I thought you could only have dogs in the pet loop?

All loops, technically, can be a "Pet Loop" it just depends upon the needs at the time of booking. While I believe some are typically (and always) designated as pet loops, if there is a larger demand for pet loops during a particular time, then they will "Expand" the loops that can have pets.

That being said, I also believe that pets are allowed in all loops for things like "Walking" and visiting, but of course it would be expected that an owner would be present with the pet (Squirrels not withstanding Tiggerdad)

The squirrels tolerate us, not the other way around. I consider them an extension of myself...

This, totally this.

It super bothers me that the acts (or lack of acts) of others reflect poorly on me as a dog owner. So much so that I often bag up poop that doesn't belong to us at campgrounds and dog parks. I'm sure it is really easy to assume that the big piles of poop belong to the pair of black labs that get walked often...so I do my best to keep those assumptions at bay. (And yes, I also hang up clothing at stores that has fallen off the hangers and I refill toilet paper rolls that have been left empty in public...drives me crazy that people can't pick up after themselves or their pets or offspring.)

God be with the original poster. I posted something similar back in June and got trashed up and down.

This subject always generates mixed feelings. Seen it come up many times, always with the same end result.

I suppose it's like anything else in the world. There are always people who are FOR something and there are always people OPPOSED to that same thing. The problem often revolves around those who are more "Vocal" about it (regardless of which side you fall on).

How is it a problem to be vocal?

Sure, it's like preaching to the choir and those who take offense are probably offenders, doesn't bother me one single bit. Just because it's been rehashed over and over, doesn't mean it's not worth saying again.

Funny, I was standing in a line yesterday and a young woman was reading on her phone and remarked to her companion, "Someone's complaining about a yappy dog!" Probably pure coincidence.
Like a previous poster, we too pick up after other's dogs.

Thanks for all taking the time to reply.

Dogs barking outside at a camp ground I'm definitly eh about. It sucks when you end up next to one but theg are outside so what can one reasonably expect.

The left behind poop on the other hand is one of my biggest dog pet peeves. I can't tell you how much of it I have to dodge in the city even though it is required by law to pick it up here. There are sole clearly sick dogs in our neighborhood based on the messes left behind by them and I for one do not want my dog or myself catching whatever it is.

I wasn't saying it's a problem to be vocal, just that the problem generally revolves around those who are (and typically more so than others) vocal. Essentially like you say, that those who take offense are usually the offenders (and try to defend their positions).

I think though, like many arguments, all those involved think they are right (and want to defend their position). I suppose this is normal though, although I find it difficult to accept most arguments as to why one cannot clean up after their pets.

Not by me you weren't!! :goodvibes

We have family members that think dog owners have 90% rights and non dog (pet) owners have 10% (at best) :confused3

Not too pleasant to be at FW to enjoy the quiet peaceful atmosphere of nature and having a non stop yappy dog completely covering any other sounds. Even attended dogs bark occasionally, understandably, but no one should have to endure constant barking.

In the past, have only had a couple issues that warranted a call and they were handled promptly and efficiently. I 'will' be 'vocal' rather than fume in silence and have my stay ruined.

Thankfully, most pet owners are courteous and responsible, but there can always be the entitled ones that feel the rules are not for them.

I keep a box of latex gloves in my truck box. They come in handy for dirty jobs such as oil checks, draining my waste tanks, and returning dog poop back to the steps of the camper the dog came from.

Just trying to help.
