Dear Dog Owners

I don't get it... I've camped all over. There are dogs at every campground all over. The thought of a campground limiting dogs seems odd... (Btw I have a dog who's an excellent camper and he's always walked and I always carry a do-bag)

Guess I don't understand - "The thought of a campground limiting dogs seems odd..." Disney's FW is 'very' pet friendly!

Well they have "pet loops" so in theory some loops aren't - correct?

Only in theory.

In reality non-pet loops are "overflow" pet loops if there are too many pet reservations. So it is reasonably possible to encounter pets (and their owners) in any loop.

Disney is not going to turn away a paying customer. :sad2:

Yes, you are correct. There are some loops that are set aside for those without pets that prefer not to have dogs around them. I would say it is a very fair way to meet the needs of all their guests. Yes, occasionally there have been dogs in the 100-200 loops where we camp, but the issues have been resolved efficiently. Everyone does not enjoy hearing dogs barking when they are enjoying the quiet sounds around them, and all pet owners are not considerate of their neighbors, even though most are.

Not to imply that pet owners DO enjoy hearing dogs barking!

A dog barking is like a child whining (or screaming). It's their way to communicate something that they want or need. So this discussion about "Pets" could also be said about Children. Can I get a "Child Free" loop? Okay I am just kidding about the child free loop, but the premise is the same, there are some excellent pet owners as well as excellent parents (Dare I say "Child Owners" <grin> ) just as there are terrible ones. I just hope I meet more of the Excellent Owners (Parents) and fewer of the, well..... Less than excellent Owners (and Parents).

I would hazard to say that as a dog lover, a barking/whining dog bothers me more than if I didn't love them. It is really unsettling to me to hear a dog upset for hours, you know that they are trying to communicate that they are stressed and want/need something.

The last few years we are finding more and more of the resort type campgrounds are indeed restricting some sites to *No Pets*! Sadly It is because some campers do not control their pets, keep them quiet and pick up after them.

Totally Agree!

It is important to note that there are no sound barriers between pet loops and non-pet loops. The sound of barking carries easily throught the trees. So camping in many pet-free loops offers no guarantee that you will experience a "bark-free" zone at the Fort or any other campground.
