Dear DCL,

Yes, it's me again. I was one of the cancelled 11/30/2002 cruisers. Yes, how can you forget me. I was the one that rebooked the night before our flight and things didn't go very smooth. Yes, I was the one that you couldn't find our reservations for at The Swan Thanksgiving morning(remember I had a faxed confirmation), and I was the one you had leaving on Friday and not Saturday. Yes, you did go to great lengths to make our stay "Magical" but you were Ill prepaired. There were too many of us for you to handle in too short of a period of time. Yes, maybe some of my unhappiness was my own fault, brought on by dissappointment after a year of anticipation.
The reason for my letter is to thank you for returning my confidence in DCL. Yes, we did rebook for a carbon copy trip, two nights at WDW (Thanksgiving and Friday) and a 7 night Eastern. We arrived at POR at 11:30 (three and a half hours early) and our room was ready, and check-in took alll of 5 minutes. Great!!! Our bags arrived and were in our room and it was 83 degrees and sunny. We had two perfect day at WDW. We had a knock on our door at 8:00a.m. as promised and our bags were wisked off to the ship. The bus was on time and soon after we were crossing "that bridge" looking at that ship. The ship was beautiful, our stateroom was spotless (and stayed spotless thanks to xavier) the food was AWSOME, the drinks were cold and the sun was warm. The servers went out of their way to make us happy, as did every one of the CMs we came in contact with. The shore excursions were excellent and the shows were above and beyond excellent!! The seas were a little rough on day but the CMs did there best to make everyone forget about the motion.
So, Dear DCL, thank you for bribing me back with my 50% off and thanks for putting up with me the time before. Remember the last sentence in my "letter" to you last year? "Which DCL are you, the one were dreams come true or where nightmare vacations are made?" You truely are where dreams come true.

Thank You,

Ron

P.S. The reason why no mention was made about Castaway Cay is because I'm sure that place is part of EDEN and DCL just uses it. There is no way a place that perfect can be a part of the planet!!!

Wow, that was really nice! :) Not too often a person sits down to write a letter like that.

I'm so glad your trip this year was so wonderful!! :sunny:

I'm so hapy that this time whent 100% much better than last time!

Thanks Guys.................actually, I'm working on a more in depth letter to DCL but, I thought that after all the complaining I put most of you thru at the beginning of this year this was a way to say "thanks" to DCL on these boards.

I am glad things went better for you. We have a third Magical cruise booked for May and will be staying at the Swan for 2 nights before we sail on Saturday. We are thinking about taking Disney transportation from airport to hotel to ship back to airport. The Disney bus is scheduled for pickup at the Swan around noon on Saturday. We have always arrived at the port around 11:00 a.m. for the other 2 cruises. Was the line long to board the ship when you arrived from the Disney hotel? Were you able to get reservations at Palo? It seems that Disney transportation will be the easiest and the Swan has a character breakfast on Sat mornings that would be fun to go to before we board the ship... Any insight would be appreciated!!! Thanks!:earsgirl:

You make me so proud!!!!!

I think that your letter was the most perfect way to say it all! I know that the challenges you and others faced during that horrible time either made or broke you down - YOU ROSE TO THE OCCASION!!!!!

Hallelujah!

Rae

Rae519.....I knew it wouldn't be long before you for this thread. Thanks....see I AM a changed person.

As for DANDD............please don't take this the wrong way......these boards ARE for learning. If you can at all switch to a WDW resort DO IT. The Swan and Dolphin ARE NOT WDW resorts!!!!!! No KTTW cards!!!! That means double check-in. Once at the hotel and once on the ship.......Please don't tell me you are at the Swan because you were offered an "upgrade". They are beautiful hotels but, not owned by Disney. Here are a few things not at the SwanUnlike Disney-

Unlike other Disney resorts, charging privileges don't extend beyond the Swan and Dolphin. All purchases and dining expenses at both the Swan and the Dolphin can be charged to your pre-arranged account. There are no Disney toiletries in the guestroom and no Mickey wake-up calls. They do have great oatmeal bath bars! NO refillable mugs. Hey, Swandolphin this is definitely a HINT! No relocation help if splitting stay between Swan/Dolphin and a Disney owned resort. Also, you can not use Disney Dollars to pay for hotel stay.

Sweetie, this is the YOU that you always were. It's just that this was a great disappointment after a very long awaited time and no, it wasn't handled very well by DCL/DVC for many.

So really you didn't change, you just got back to the person you really truly are! WONDERFUL!

Many, many hugs!!!!!

Suzanne, you are what Kodak memories are made from!

Lovely picture!!

Merry Christmas ladies!

By the way, Michael is 8.....want to consider an arranged marriage for your daughter??????? He's interested!!!

Brianna is already in love (for the past 1 1/2) with another little boy in her class. She's already arranging the marriage. :faint:

Thanks!

Lampskies:

I've stayed at the Swan before and actually do like it (I also understand that it is not a "Disney" resort).... One nice thing is that we are arriving on Thursday around 6:30 p.m. and we could walk over to Boardwalk to see Epcot fireworks that night before heading to MK on Friday... One thing I did not consider is that if you stay at Disney resort you do not have to check in at the port... Is this correct for a 7 day cruise (not the 3/4 land sea package)? I did not realize this.... Also, we are lucky that ds does not drink soda so no need for refillable mugs! However, I am still interested in how long the line was for boarding the ship when you arrived at terminal and were you were able to get reservations at Palo? It is my understanding that most of the busses pick up at the hotels around noon so you arrive at port around 1:15 or so.... Thanks for your help! I've been trying to find out more info from people that do the 7 day cruise with their "own" land package! Thanks! :earsgirl:

HE's struck out twice this week, poor kid. His first love became engaged!! Well, life goes on!

Have a wonderful time on your cruise - maybe we can get together in April -

HAPPY TRAILS!

Rae

We'll diffiantly try to make it over that way in April to meet up with you. Bri has a fieldtrip sometime in April, so I've been waiting for her teacher to put out the date and then I plan on taking a day or two off (don't tell anyone shhhh! ) to make a long weekend out that way. I'll let you know here shortly!

Hey Lampskies~ I agree with Rae~ you're not a changed person, you're the person we all knew was there. To be honest, at one point, I would not even read your posts, as the same case with she who shall not be named....

However, my opinion of you has changed, so I hope you will think that makes me a better person too.
Sorry, I can be brutal sometimes, but I also make up for that tenfold and can be very nice. (Oh, what BD could have done with that remark!)

Happy Holidays

WELL said - we all become better people when we see what others have gone through and benefitted from. You know, my Pop used to say that maybe there was a reason for whatever "challenge" came before us (once we were running late for an meeting and he later found out that had we been on time we could have been in a major traffic accident).
Not trying to be a Drama Queen here about this stuff, but things happen for a reason - maybe it tests a person or puts a potentially dangerous situation in perspective.
Heck no that doesn't make us any happier when we get thwarted but when we survive and meet the challenge - we improve and so does those around us (Jeanny, O' Wise One).

And speaking of BD - I miss him very much on these threads.
He really was a sweet, wonderful and very funny man who added a lot to our threads and his humor has not been replaced.
Likewise to others who have been "dismissed" - and unlike some who we wished would have gone away sooner!!!

Ohh, Jeanny - you brutal - come on now! I want to see that!!!
And if you are, then please put an identifier on your post so we can see what that is like from you!

Lampskies - HUGS!

Rae

DANDD..........we added two nights prior to our 7 night Eastern and stayed at POR. Yes, our KTTW card was the SAME for POR and the ship. And yes, no check-in on the ship. We left POR at 12:30 and arrived at port at about 1:30. The line was about 10 mins. long. They picked our luggage up in our room at 8 a.m. (I can't remember if the Swan offered that service)
Jeanny......It is wierd that I actually found these threads from a link on cruise critic. I was so _____off that I just wanted the whole world to know how screwed up things were. Disagreement and dialogue IS what makes this great country work. I never took anything personal. I have NEVER been a "I love the mouse" person. We do the couple of days at WDW only to avoid being delayed in Chicago by weather. As a matter of fact, some of my friends give me a hard time........imagine a guy 6'2 255 talking in a high pitched Mickey voice (yes, after a few cocktails) My buddy calls me the night before we are leaving THIS time and says (in the mickey voice) "Hey Ron, this is Mickey, I see you are comming here even after what I did to you this year. I tried to get that ship sick again.....but I couldn't because of that dumb dry dock......can't we just call a truice??" I couldn't stop laughing.

Ohh my, you mean I have been in debate with a 6'2 - 255lb guy?
Ohhh Lordy, I am just lucky I didn't get my butt kicked during those "sick days"!

Laughed at your friend's joke - nice to have friends who can make you laugh.

Happy holidays and thanks!
