While my wife and I love DVC, we would like to join another timeshare that would allow us to travel around the country( and a bit further like Carribean) a bit more. DVC is just not points economical to do so. Any suggestions as to which timeshares to look at or starting places to do research? Thanks a lot.

if you can afford a Marriott - they are all over the place.

Worldmark is also another one that is in several places.

Fairfield is also -but I don't like their sales pitch...yes I know you will buy resales - but these people are hard to avoid.

In addition to DVC, we have a timeshare with Marriott Vacation Club and love it. We have exchanged for places all over, including Hawaii, Aruba, and France. I highly recommend them. Their units are spacious, stocked, and clean.

Look into Starwood as well - Harborside at Atlantis and Westin St, John are hard to beat. Go the resale route - if you buy at one of the "mandatory" resorts (which include most of the westins, sheraton vistana villages, harborside and st. john) you can join the starwood vacation network and exchange your week into points to go to any of the other starwood properties (westin and Sheraton, along with harborside). We bought a resale at Sheraton Mt. Vista - unfortunately not a mandatory resort so we can't exchange it into the vacation network - haven't been to the resort yet, so I'm no expert but I've heard a lot of good things in my research. Go to the tug discussion boards and read up on marriott and "hotel based timeshare" discussions....
