Dealing with friends that well are.... in a word... Cheap

My example of being cheap.
Got an email offering two pairs of Michael Strahan blue jeans for $70.
The last pair of Levi's I bought at Walmart were $12. Only bought them because they were out of my size in the $7 Walmart brand.
Did you need more than one pair at the time? Cuz $24 for 2 pair seems more than fair.

Also, never knew that Michael Strahan had a jeans line??

When I was working I always liked to have a clean pair or two in the dresser.
I didn't know Michael Strahan had a jeans line until today. They apparently were only at JCPENNEY but Men's Warehouse now carries them too. https://wwd.com/menswear-news/mens-retail-business/michael-strahan-expands-into-jeans-1202888268/

I don’t mind if people are cheap, but I do mind if people mooch. I used to have a friend I adored but she was such an incredible moocher that I had to create distance. She was always asking me to watch her son and then she would tell me that she made sure he didn’t eat before coming to my house because I had such great food in our pantry 😐. There were many other things she did but i hate to spell them all out here!

I had a neighbor who mooched like that. She was a SAHM and I worked outside of the home, but at night, so I was home in the daytime as well. She was always conveniently running late with errands when our kids would get off the school bus, so she’d call me to ask if I could grab her kids and take them to my house until she got home (which of course meant feeding them snacks as well. She had three kids). I got hip to that quick and stopped answering the phone 🤣😂. No problem if it’s occasional, but when it becomes routine, then yeah I have issues with that.

Heh, lost one of my college buddies to similar issues. He wouldn’t tip no matter what restaurant we went to and wouldn’t let us make up for his shortage. In college he said he couldn’t afford it, after college, he said waiter’s/waitress are paid with hourly pay and don’t need his tip to survive. He slowly got dropped out as everyone would stop inviting him over a year or two as no one wanted to deal with the embarrassment of it all.

Oh do tell!

I had an friend who would order water with “lots” of lemon. He would then take the sugar packs and make lemon aid. After a few times of that I never ate out with him again.

My sisters, cousins, and I did that on vacations when we were kids. At one point our parents decided we could only order water or milk, not soda (they said it was to be healthy, but it was really them being cheap), so that was our way of getting around it. That rule didn't last long.

yeah...want is up with that....I am always rinsing out those heavy duty freezer bags with the zip closures that are stronger than most plastic containers that store in the fridge. great for storing produce, sealing bags of 3/4 consumed chips, snacks or they make their way out to the garage......but nooooo...wife gives me the stink eye when they are drying in the rack.

I agree. Those are one of the few disposable things I think should be reused whenever possible.

I also remember helping my FIL with spring clean up in his yard. I brought along a box of heavy duty trash bags, but he shoos them away and digs out the plastic bags he saved from last years mulch. They were a PITA to use, and after that time DW talked him into using my store-bought trash bags.

And I was often forced (at knifepoint ;)) to drink warm, flat, Shop-Rite brand Diet Ginger Ale while over his house. Or nasty "PC-Italian Red" wine.

Does Walmart sell regular Levi's? I think I saw one of their lower tier lines there. But they were way more than $12. Maybe $22. Even Walmart's brand are more than $7 in my area.

I usually buy Wrangler jeans at Walmart, for about $18.

I love Wrangler's actually. To me, not only are they cheaper than the "nicer" brands, they fit really well and are very durable. The only trick is finding my size, but I think they're great jeans, especially for rugged use, as jeans were meant for.

The only problem with jeans is that you're not supposed to ever wash them.
