Just wondering if the resorts have any provisions for a child who wets the bed. Since DVC trips don't get housekeeping daily, I don't ming washing the sheets etc myself, but do they have plastic bed protectors or something to protect the bed itself?

Just wondering how other parents dealt with the situation.

I don't think they supply anything but they do have washers and dryers in the buildings.

Maybe you could take along a few of those blue pads used at hospitals/nursing homes. Chuckies, I think they're called? You can leave them on top of the fitted sheet to save you some laundry or place it between the fitted sheet & mattress if laying directly on top of the pad isn't comfortable for your child. The sheets would need to be washed in the event of an accident in the latter case, but at least the mattress would then be protected.

There was an accident that mousekeeping fixed for us, 100%. It was the first stay...the DGC had never slept away from their own home, they were worried that they weren't going to go back to their real home.

I didn't know if we would be charged, (we weren't) whatever, it was something we just never anticipated.

When we had toddlers, we asked for a plastic shower curtain liner and placed it under the fitted sheet. Housekeeping supplied this for us. Hope this helps.

I work in a nsg home and they are called underpads (they are reusable). I too have a bed wetter and you can also purchase disposable ones at Sams in bulk or Walmart may have smaller quantities.

Call and ask.

Years ago when we dealt with this (had kids who generally were fine, but had an accident at Disney), they cleaned it up for us, no fuss, no charge, in the middle of the night. However, they were able to provide us a waterproof pad to protect the mattress from a "future incursion" - which didn't happen, this was really a one off thing.

When we stayed at HHI in October, I called housekeeping and inquired about a pad. They said they had one and would bring it right up. When they arrived, the CM said they were currently out of pads but they brought up a clear, plastic shower liner. We put that on the mattress under the sheet and it worked just fine.

Depending on how often this happens and how old and willing your child is, I recommend pull-ups or Good-nites for bigger kids. Washing sheets on vacations feels like work!

And for even bigger kids, there are Depends.

I have a bed wetter who wets the bed due to a birth defect that affects his bladder and kidneys. I have two waterproof "overlay pads". I got them at the bedwetting store online. They are great and the perfect size and you can put them on top of the sheet as they are not uncomfortable to sleep on as the top is cotton. They also don't cause then to sweat like a shower curtain and other things can sometimes do. I bring both of them with me so I only have to wash every other night if he happens to wet 2 nights in a row. If you want more info let me know!

It's a herediary thing with my son. he's 11 and does this on a nightly basis and wears depends. Past trips I've just thrown the sheets in the washer, but I was just wondering if there were other options.

My son just turned 13 and still wets the bed. Have you checked out the bedwetting store? It has a lot of really great things.

I really hope folks are doing more than throwing the sheets in the washer.. Other Members have to sleep on those beds.
Kudos to those of you who bring the proper waterproof equipment.

My 7 year old will often be unable to stay dry overnight. She uses Goodnights pull ups. I can't imagine putting her in any bed, never mind one that isn't her own, knowing she might have an accident and soil the bed! Yuck!

My son was a bedwetter. It was an easy fix. Walmart, kohls and target all sell plastic bed covers, they are very inexpensive also (I think 8-20 buck range). We purchased 2 that fit a full size mattress and they had plastic strips at each corner to hold in place.
Worked like a charm. fully washable, didn't take up a bit of space. Loved them.

Never ever soiled the mattress. they are wonderful

my 7yr old DS is a bedwetter and we use waterproof pads on the beds. It's a known problem and so we come prepared to deal with it and protect the mattress.

I never thought to bring a shower curtain liner. I may bring one of those too next time. The pads on top of the sheets protect not just the sheets/bed but his little brother. ;)

When our dd had this problem, we just packed the blue pads we use on her bed at home. She didn't soak past them, so it worked out fine.
