Dealbreakers- which attraction being down for refurbishment would make you reconsider visiting?

Mine would be none. We go when we can go and if something is down it's down. Rescheduling isn't an option. When we went one year BTMRR was closed. Next time I couldn't go because I was pregnant. We got to go the next time. So we went three times just to be on the safe side. Lol!

It took us until our last trip for IASW to not be down and we just got to ride BTMRR for the first time on our last trip.

My husband was not much of a fan of IASW (and, truthfully, I'm not a big one, either), though, so I doubt we'll be riding that one much in the future, lol.
We got stuck on it for an hour and a half and then had to be evacuated. Up and down a million stairs. All while 34 weeks pregnant. I have no desire to go back on IASW for a long long time.

Oh my gosh, I don't blame you!

No ride closures would deter us from visiting. We have been on trips when Indy was down, another time, BTMR was down etc. We just focus on the what is available and enjoy the parks.

Many others would be a disappointment, but not a deal-breaker (Radiator Springs Racers, Big Thunder Mountain).

This made me wonder, has Radiator Springs Racers been down for a refurb since it opened? Has it closed even for a week or so? Or has it been open non-stop (except frequent breakdowns) since opening? I know Mater's has had it's floor redone already (twice I think). I don't remember ever hearing that RSR was down for refurb.

There isn't any one ride that would keep me from coming. I have been several times when Space was down. That is always a bummer. And Matterhorn is often closed. Old ride needs a lot of TLC I guess. So even though we've had APs twice, we have visited with it closed more than open. That's sad too. But no closure has kept us from coming. I expect attractions to be closed whenever we visit. It's more a question of how many will be closed. Less is better.

I feel sad for some families who always have the same rides closed during their trips. I think this sometimes happens when they always visit at the same time of year. If you visit in the summer then crowds are high but few rides are ever closed. If you visit during other times of the year you have repeat refurbs that happen around the same time every year. In that case families should try to visit at another time of year the next time they visit if at all possible.

For us, there's not a "dealbreaker." I mean, we're sad the train is going to be down, as we love riding it a few times a day. But, we've been there when BTMRR was down, when Matterhorn was down, when Space Mtn was down, when Small World is down.... I always figure it just gives us a reason to go back!

None. I have gone to the parks pregnant or with kids the last 3 trips I have taken. I have missed most of my favorite rides. I am getting used to it.

As someone else mentioned, we plan well far in advance. We have kids 4 and 3 and knew full well that the Rivers attractions would be closed. But I feel bad for my kids that when we go in April, Autopia, the Monorail, Jungle Cruise, Pixar Parade, and for me the Matterhorn and Grizzly will be closed. It will be difficult telling my kids they can't go on those rides, especially the train and monorail for my 3 year old boy. Nothing is a deal breaker for us, but considering the ages of our kids, I don't mind missing some top attraction ride, but they really like "kids" rides and attractions.

There are several rides that are deal breakers for us. The trip just isn't the same without them and we'll simply reschedule to get a better experience. These include POTC, BTMRR, HM & JC.
But more importantly there's also a value factor for us. If more than 2~3 E ticket rides are to be down we simply feel like we're being cheated a bit and will reschedule. The problem is most of the time Disney will not announce a third (or forth) main attraction will be down until it's so close to to it's renovation time that it's too late for guests to change plans.

No matter what we will still go but like others it hurts a bit when potc and HM are closed. Last trip in September we were going mon-thur only to find out potc was closing that Monday for the week we were there go figure. Needles to say we left a day early and added Sunday to the trip just so we could ride it lol

Our trip dates are always flexible, so it's easy for us to say "Oh that's going to be down? Let's move the trip a few weeks/months."

In Disneyland, I would move dates for Radiator Springs Racers because I haven't seen it yet, and probably Pirates.

There is no single ride that would be a deal breaker for me, however I'd be disappointed if POTC or HM were closed (and that has happened for me on past trips). The JC was closed on our last trip and it was definitely missed.

I think the only reason I'd change plans would be if an entire land was closed or three or more E-tickets were down for refurb at the same time.

The biggest deal breaker is the Matterhorn. I would cancel the trip and not think twice about it.

I'm bummed about Grizzly River Run but nothing else closed end of April, early May is worth me sulking over. I'll never plan a trip for the same time of year again though.

For me the answer is none. I would never cancel or reschedule just because one or two attractions are down. It's still magical for me just being there!! I love Disneyland!!

POTR, Splash, Peter Pan, or Pooh being down would all make me reschedule. And not an attraction, but I would reschedule if Blue Bayou was closed.

That's where we are--both in terms of planning and the announcement being too late. Our April trip is largely because DH is giving a paper at the DLH and it's a great opportunity tag along (and take advantage of one free plane fare and a couple of free nights at DLH, plus the conference rate for the other two nights). However, had we known about all the additional attractions they decided to close for Star Wars construction, we might have reconsidered. As it was, we'd already told the kids months earlier. However, I seriously doubt I'd go again until Star Wars land is open, and only then if some of the rides that my kids have missed will also be open. The long and short of it is that it's a huge expense for us to get out to DL, so value very much plays into it. (If we lived in CA and didn't have to add in plane fare and days off work or school and lodging and meals, I'm sure we'd not care nearly as much.)
