Deadliest Catch Season 7 OFFICIAL thread!

So we did a MERGE just like on SURVIVOR … hahaha!!! THANKS MODS!!! Now we all can TALK Deadliest Catch on one thread!!! :dance3:

GREAT season premier. Boy, I missed these guys. I just love DC. The first scene with the good byes to Phil … :sad1:

I thought as well the Capt of the Sea Brooke was great but he has had his demons to deal with and that may have softened him a bit … as he lost a crew member overboard … that must have been devastating. :sad2:

And the Ramblin' Rose … interesting group of fellas.

Anyway, our boys are back and everyone is looking good. So glad to see Jake 'clean'! He is doing it for Phil and esp for himself.

That COAST GUARD rescue was amazing. I love watching things like that on how they operate. Although, the 'swimmer' as they called him smashed into one of those containers as he was landing on the ship … ouch.

The previews for the coming season look interesting and full of drama!!!!!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

If I remember correctly, the boat was owned by Cornelia Marie and her husband. I think when her husband passed away, Phil bought half the boat. Cornelia Marie owns the other half. I believe Phil was a deck hand on the CM before becoming the Captain.

Found this:
History
The Cornelia Marie was built in 1989 in Bayou La Batre, Alabama on commission from original owner Ralph Collins; she was one of the last boats built by Horton Boats. Named after Ralph's wife, co-owner Cornelia Marie Collins, she is 128 feet (39 m) long, 28 feet (8.5 m) wide, and carries 28,500 U.S. gallons (23,700 imp gal; 108,000 L) of fuel and 3,000 U.S. gallons (2,500 imp gal; 11,000 L) of fresh water.[1][2] The Cornelia Marie fishes for King, Tanner, and Opilio crab, and also does Salmon and Herring tendering. She features an aquamarine and white paint scheme with yellow banners bearing the ship's name.

Ralph and Cornelia Marie divorced, and Cornelia Marie took ownership of the boat. She eventually sold partial share to captain Phil Harris. His share is currently in possession of his estate.

I was really impressed with the 2 new captains (Ramblin' Rose and Seabrooke), they're young and ambitious and both have lots of responsibility.

I was also surprised Josh smoking again. After his dad dies he was trying to quit. So sad. I was also glad not to see the 2 young captains NOT smoking. Let's hope it stays that way.

I wish they would have brought Murray is it? to captain the CM. He was respected by the boys

Didn't catch the premiere the other day. I will have to be on the lookout for the repeat.

In regards to Jake Anderson and his missing father, I found this from back on March 29, 2011.

KIRO Radio staff

A local deckhand from the popular Discovery Channel show "Deadliest Catch," says there's renewed hope in finding answers about his father, who has been missing since last January.

Anacortes police plan to give a polygraph test to a witness who may have new information.

"I really believe that this person that last saw him did something with him. There are reports from people that he's bragging about murdering my dad," Keith Anderson's son, Jake, told KING-5.

Anderson said he thinks foul play is involved.

Keith Anderson, 63, was reported missing Jan 6, 2010. His truck was found a couple of weeks later on a remote logging road near Darrington.

A $10,000 reward is being offered to anyone who has information that leads to Anderson's whereabouts.

My family and I met Edgar last year when we went to Disneyland in CA. He and Sig were there for a cooking demonstration of some sort (lots of chefs were there). But he and his family were just touring California Adventure that day, and I recognized him. He was so nice and let us take pics with him and talk to him for a moment. He is very skinny! He should try to fatten up a little before crab season!

Dh and I got to meet Sig and Edgar at WDW about 2 years ago at Epcot/Norway (inside of the store). They were there for a meet & greet and were signing autographs/merchandise. They had a bunch of Deadliest Catch/Northwestern stuff for sale. The line of people waiting to meet them was very very long - we waited over an hour to meet them. My poor dh - I'm the real fan in our house. But Sig and Edgar were so nice! The Disney photopass guy was there and he took a whole series of photos of us with the guys! It was great! My dh also took some photos of just me with the guys with our camera.

I had a couple of questions I was going to ask them but when it was my turn, I told them I was so nervous. Sig yelled out "don't be nervous, come on over here and show us some love!" They both put their arms around me and I totally forgot my questions! :rotfl:

Here is a link to their Epcot visit that same day. They had these shirts on - we were at the front of the line but the video just misses us:

Cornelia Marie owned more than 50% (maybe just 51 or 52%?) when Phil was alive, so I don't think it's even-steven now, unless Phil bought another share or two or the boys did before he died.

Things will get ever so much worse with that boat in the next few weeks ;) I side with Derrick. He told them flat out that he was going to run the boat his way and they said they were fine with that. As they've said many times, there can only be one captain on the boat. Edgar and Norm own the Northwestern, too, but Sig is the captain, period. Andy and Johnathan trade off being captain and live by the other's decisions when they're not in the chair. It's just the way things go.

Try to imagine a scenario where Jake Anderson takes off for two hours without explanation and comes back and when Sig asks where he's been, snarls "don't start with me!" I think we can all imagine the consequences.

Unfortunately, Derrick's stuck with "owners" on his boat who look like they're shaping up to be similar to the "owner's boy" from a previous season who called his Daddy to have his captain fired. I feel bad for the Harris boys, but it only goes so far.

True. However, I was very shocked ,ticked when Derrick was yelling at the younger son and saying Phil isn't here, he is blanking dead. or something to that affect. that was just disrespectful.

He was yelling at Steve, the engineer, who had gone off without telling him, let alone getting permission. Jake and Josh were in the galley (if the reaction shot is to be trusted, they didn't have much of a reaction beyond "wow, these guys are really going at it, and we're staying out of it")

He limited his anger at Jake to just questioning why he'd been gone a lot longer than he said he'd be. Then he started on Steve, who got back in his face, immediately. While they were outside, Jake tried to get between them a bit, then decided to get out of it. The rest was all Steve and Derrick.

Hmm…I don't remember that either. I thought his anger was all towards Steve the engineer. Jake was standing by then as they screamed at each other. It appeared that Jake was trying to give Steve some small piece of paper. But I still would like to know why they were gone for 2.5 hours.

My bad it was the engineer, I had missed who he was talking to and thought it was the younger son, however, what he said was honestly disrespectful about Phil. it would be one thing to say I am the captain now, but saying Phil isn't here, he is blanking dead, not cool.

I agree that it was strange that they were gone for so long, but I think that he was trying to establish he's in charge of the boat. I thought Steve had said something about Phil would have, just before he made the comment about Phil being dead. I can appreciate that he was pretty mad but I agree that the comment was incredibly disrespectful, especially since Josh and Jake were right there. I would also have thought that he would have wanted more details about where exactly they had been for so long. His primary concern, IMO, should be making sure that Jake is still sober. What Josh said about Jake being responsible for other people's lives is the most important thing. I think about Jake being on board last season, knowing he was messed up part of the time and am amazed that nothing bad happened on deck. Drugs and a crab fishing boat just don't mix... drugs and anything don't really mix but I can see where that would be a really bad deal.

Hey all, bumping this guy back up.

I've not seen this week's episode because DH watched the season premiere the other night and I've just not had the time to get in this week's episode, but feel free to chat about it.

I don't mind spoilers. :thumbsup2

I have not watched this week's epi either as DH is on a business trip and when he returns Friday, we will get all caught up on our shows over the weekend! :thumbsup2

I love spoilers also. I did see brothers, Jake and Josh Harris on TMZ yesterday. They were in town (LA) as Jake Anderson and Jake Harris were talking to Dr. Drew about their addictions.

JAKE HARRIS AND JAKE ANDERSON APPEAR ON DR. DREW ABOUT THEIR ADDICTION - DEADLIEST CATCH

http://ohrant.blogspot.com/2011/04/jake-harris-and-josh-anderson-appear-on.html

The TMZ staff was talking in their studio after a short interview with the Harris Bros. and they said that the guys told them they DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT shower the entire time they are on the vessel, something like 60 days. They simply have NO time, is what the guys said.

Come to think of it, I have never seen in all the years ever watching DC a crew member in a towel just coming out of a shower … oh my. The TMZ staff commented between NO showers and crabbing, it must be pretty ripe on those ships.

Don't they get wet enough with the sea spray? :confused3

There's footage somewhere (not sure if it made the show or just the Discovery website) of Sig telling Matt he didn't have time for a shower. Matt took one anyway, so Sig shut the water off, and Matt came out all soaped up.

But they seem to be more civilized on that boat compared to a lot of the other floating frat houses. They have actual meals regularly, as opposed to just microwaving hot pockets. Maybe because the senior guys are married and accustomed to more civilization in their non -fishing months?

Ok, so last week's episode was a stinker, but I'm watching Sig, Andy, and Jonathon on Rachel Ray right now.

Guess this is their pennance for the off-season fight!

I was driving and they were replaying an interview with Andy and Johnathan Hillstrand and Sig. They were pretty blunt about the fact that the 'new kids on the block' (the 2 new young captains) have not made any friends with all their trash talk of the older captains.

They were also joking about the fame...how they can walk into any bar in the country and have their drinks paid for....how they have now been bale to save for thier kids college cause they no longer buy themselves alcohol!!!!

I was a bit disapointed that even after losing Phil, NONE of them have quit smoking....very sad.

The way the show plays things out is that the guys are friends outside of fishing, but it seems that wasn't really the case until they started filming, then they all got to know each other. Apparently Sig's father (or was it Andy and Johnathans? I don't remember) was friendly with Phil as they have pleasure boats that were docked next to one another so they did know of each other, but since they started filming the older guys, with the exception of Keith, have become friendly.

I must say, I was not a fan of Johnathan and his attitude, until last season, he really seemed to step in and help with the boys when Phil was in the hospital and after he died.

Doesn't really surprise me that they would have that attitude. :sad2:

Me too, especially since it was a promise made! I can see Jake still smoking while he is in recovery. Cutting both vices cold turkey could send him spiraling out of control again. Josh has no excuse.

Keith has his own cross to bear. I did notice after his big boat fight that he mention how he hates himself when he becomes a tyrrant. Maybe he saw himself on the show and realized how he was coming across. Or maybe his kids told him he was a jerk. IDK. I have noticed a huge change in his attitude over the last couple seasons.

I must say, I was not a fan of Johnathan and his attitude, until last season, he really seemed to step in and help with the boys when Phil was in the hospital and after he died.
I was glad for the boys that Jonathon was there. He left his own boat for some R&R and made the choice to be there for the Harris clan. I gained a lot of respect for him there!
