DD's school under lockdown

Just got an automated call. There was an armed robbery at a bank across from the school this afternoon. The guy got away and ran towards the school. Cops are everywhere around the school.

I hate this.

I'm so sorry! This happened in our school system earlier this fall. Luckily it was far away from my DD's school, but they locked-down all the schools in the district. No outdoor recess.

Are the buildings in your district already locked during the day? We have to be buzzed in the doors of our school buildings only after showing picture ID to the camera.

I hate that some people do things like this, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I'm glad the schools are being proactive to safeguard my child.

Yes the doors are locked anyway. I think the extra lockdown just means no recess or visitors coming in.

About 1:15pm this afternoon. My friend lives in Box Hill and said it's crawling with cops. My development is the next one up. I'm also nervous about a criminal prowling around.

I just have alot of nervous energy. So I'm hopping all around the dis trying to occupy my time. School lets out at 4pm. Then she'll be home.

That's what happened here. No one was allowed in and the kids were not allowed outside. They never found the guy here, but they did let the kids get on the bus to go home on time.

Hugs to you. I went through this when I was in first grade, before lockdowns were even thought of by most schools. If their school is like ours, the kids probably aren't very aware of what is going on. They did a great job of not scaring us.

I hope your daughter's school is like that and are keeping the kids calm. I'm sure it's just a precaution, better safe than sorry. Please let us know how it turns out.

But it's funny because this morning I got an automated call saying they had water problems at the school. They had to bring in bottled water and hand washing stations. Now this happens. Not a good day for the school Thank goodness it's Friday.
