DD's High School Class Ring

DD got her's last year from Balfour. That's where mine and DH's came from as well.


Call me a cheapskate - but we got whatever the fake silver is called - some Balfour name - and it looks great. Considering I don't know ANYONE who wears their high school ring much past their freshman year of college - and DD doesn't even wear her's everyday now - we are all quite happy with that choice. Obviously it's up to the individual - but I think it's a big waste of money to buy a $400 and up high school ring.

DS is a freshman. When do most people buy class rings for high school? Seems like maybe we should be thinking of this, since he won't want to wear it much after graduating. I'm also interested in prices of different brands.

I don't remember who made my high school ring. It's been too long. I do remember that it is gold. It's been sitting in my jewelry box for years.

I was engaged when I graduated from college. I didn't feel a need to get a college ring, because I had my engagement ring. We were buying a house and I had other plans for my money at the time.

We got Jules ring this fall from Zales. They were almost half the price of the one you could order from school.

She got a blue stone(school colors are gold and blue), music instruments on one side, a knight on the other, 2004 and her name. It looks great & was only $150!

DH and I both have rings. His is the fake gold from Jostens. Mine was real white gold (right before the price went up--cost $60 in 1978!)
Sophomore year is the year where I teach. Jostens has the school set up but other options are available at jewelers.
In all honesty, hardly any of my students get them. When I was in HS everyone got one, but it's not that big of a deal now. My kids will have to make do with the fake stuff too!
I had a gold college ring (my reward for making it in 4 years) but I can't find it!
