My DD, 19, met her boyfriend at a retreat for young adults with life threatening illnesses. Her BF is 20 years old and currently going through chemo for his second bout with cancer. The chemo he is receiving now is just for "palliative" care. I feel so bad for him & his family. He lives in another state and DD is living with his family right now. Please send any extra prayers out to him and his family as they go through this terrible time. I know this will be tough on DD, but his parents say that she is the only thing that has made him happy in months. I have been praying for a miracle!

I will include you all in my prayers:angel: I am also hoping and praying for a miracle!

I'm sorry. My prayers are with him. I finished chemo 4 months ago for Osteosarcoma, a "cousin" of Ewing's. Terrible stuff that chemo, very agressive for bone cancers.

My heart goes out to them , as my daughter ( Imabrat ) pointed out she just finished chemo for Osteosarcoma four months ago , Ewing's is like a "first cousin" to osteosarcoma , my heart goes out to him and the family.

imabrat, thanks for the good wishes from a survivor! Glad to hear that you are finished with your treatment. I can't imagine what you have been through, good to see you here on the DIS boards!

Mskanga, as the mom of a chronically ill DD I know how tough it can be for you. From what DD tells me about her boyfriend's illness, it sounds as if bone cancer is very painful. Watching your "baby" go through that must be horrible. DH had chemo and it was a tough road, I am happy to hear that things are going well for your DD. Thank you for the support!

Last week was tough on everyone because he was told that the chemo is no longer working. All treatment from here on is experimental, also DD is having a lot of trouble with her illness so we had to fly her home to see her doctor. She came home on Friday and saw the doctor on Monday. She has a number of appointments and tests scheduled during the next week. We are hoping to get her healthy soon so she can go back.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers!! Keep them coming, we need a miracle.

I would have given my life to spare my daughter from bone cancer treatment , it is not just the chemo they go through but the surgery and grueling physical therapy and I do not wish this to my worst enemy.
But on the bright side I will tell you that there are patients out there who do not respond to traditional chemo treatments but thank God there are clinical trials that are successful options even if they call it "paliative care" , as long as there's an option , there's hope.
My prayers go out to you and your daughter too and I hope that she recovers from whatever her condition is.

Sadly, he lost his battle last night. The past few months were very tough on him. I know he is at peace now, but it is so hard. Please keep DD & his family in your prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this news. The loss of a young person is a terrible thing. Thinking of you all during this sad time.:grouphug:

:grouphug: I'm so sorry. Keeping the family and your daughter in my prayers, tonight.

I am so sorry. I will continue to pray for your DD and his family as well as all of you too.

I am so sorry to hear that he lost his battle.. so young too. We need to find a cure for this horrible cancer, hopefully in my lifetime as I would love to see it..

Hugs to your daughter and to his family.....sorry.

I am so sorry to hear that he lost his battle , I hate cancer more than I could ever say.
My heart goes out to the family and friends.

Thanks for all the kind words. DD & I will be flying out tomorrow to attend the funeral in Georgia. I know that this will be the hardest weekend she has ever had to face. Please keep us in your prayers, as well as Devon's family. We will all need God's strength to get through this. Britt was supposed to be admitted to the hospital tomorrow for treatments for 1 of the illnesses she suffers from. Between that and Devon's death, she is in pretty rough shape, we really could use the prayers. Thank you.

I am thinking of you all, this is such a terrible thing for your young daughter to be facing. Loss is always so difficult but it is especially hard when it is our youth that are affected by illness and death.

Big Koala cuddles to you all.

Trish

I just read this post all the way thru. My prayers go out to his family & to your DD. He is in a better place. All his pain and suffering are gone. :grouphug:
