Me and FI are season ticket holders but planning on staying on disney property in Dec (Pop Century). Do we qualify for the Disney Dining Plan. I heard its a great way to save money, and I love the nicer dining options.

You have to book a package with at least one day park tickets if I remember correctly. It is good for the lenth of your stay and costs around 40 per person per day. Just call Disney reservations and they should be able to tell you what is required. I think its an great deal if you use the table service meals wisely.

You would have to fork over the $$ for the tickets, but you don't have to use them. Many AP holders save the 1 day tickets to put towards their next AP purchase.

You would have to give up any AP discount you might be getting on the room. Depending on where you stay, giving up that discount could eat up the savings you'd get from the DDP. But you usually can use other discounts for the room, like AAA.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Well they don't have many passholder deals on rooms around Christmas, haha. And I have AAA so will try to get one through them I guess... Will call and ask when we book and go from there... That's a good idea to use the pass and upgrade for nextyear. Thanks!

How does that work? We booked a 1 day ticket with our dining package as well since we already had 5 day hoppers left from a previous visit. I figured we would have to use the one day tickets first. Can we not use them and then get the same dollar credit towards our next passes 1-2 years later?

You could rent points from a DVC member.

For a DVC point reservation, you may (or a member you're renting from may) add the dining plan without the ticket purchase requirement.

No, you are not required to use the one day ticket first. You can save it for another time.

Gotcha! I saw December and thought early December, but definitely no AP deals for the end of the month.

What you do is use your room key (with the 1 day ticket on it) for room access, emh, DDP credits, charging, etc. You use your old 5 day hoppers or AP's for park access and FP's. As long as you don't use the ticket for admission, it's supposed to be good forever, and you can upgrade it to a MYW ticket or AP anytime. If you're worried about accidentally using the ticket, I've heard you can have them removed from your room key and put onto a paper ticket at your resort. The only catch is you can only put 1 ticket towards the purchase of another. For example, if you are an AP holder and go several times a year, each time doing the MYW package to get the DDP, and end up with a bunch of 1 day base tickets, you can only upgrade one of them at a time to an AP. Does that make sense? HTH!

I think this time we will cash in the ticket at the beginning of our stay (I heard they will give a paper ticket) and use them as a gift to my Grandma so they can join us!!! Thanks! Will call Disney and double check... :)
